How so? Berrics game of skate literally follow the same 3 rules that are applied everywhere worldwide for the past who knows how many years, not sure what you find so complicated about it.
Games of skate have to opened my mind to new possibilities. Especially when playing against someone way better than me. I’ll even ask for pointers before trying a new trick- it’s all about the fun, not the win.
The only rule for me really if I’m playing with a friend is like I’m gonna try to run through all the shit we can both do and I’m not gonna pull out a niche trick or some shit I know he sucks at unless we’re both on and have no more tricks
I think starting off with the basics is a good strategy, especially if you got first go. If you got your basic tricks on lock and there's a chance they could mess up and you could get them a easy letter and save your ill tricks for emergencies.
Front shoves and varial kickflips are what I’d use to make people get letters. My friends and I would usually start with the easy tricks we can land then progressively get harder as the game went along.
i remember when it was team p rod vs team malto and p rod got vexed with their double flip tricks and said something about them doing a bunch of circus tricks lol
My first and only switch heel was in a game of skate. I had skat. It didn’t pop. But I’ll always remember. My fakie double varial took the kid out. I Skated ages 6-14. Then briefly in college. Kid was an am. Highlight moment for sure. Nothing like learning a trick mid game
I think the only etiquette is not getting so arrogant and calling others out for no reason. It shouldn’t matter what kind of trick you do first or last.
Personally, I think it's up to the participants and their level of skill or current situation. For example, if I'm playing SKATE with a guy who is injured, I'd ask if there's anything he's not comfortable with, but if I was going against P-ROD, I'd just surrender to the sweet relief of death.
FACTS from Prod watching people at my local over the years you know whos good around town so you know what kind of game to expect from whomever youre playing some guys start with shoves some guys start with kick flips some guys start with nollie flips and tre flips but playing the better guys will force you to get better and out of your comfort zone. if you want to get better like most of us do then challenge yourself and your friends.... I think if it's a battle between you and a friend, get the gamed warmed up with ehat you and that person can land. Then start working in tricks that will challenge them, but aren't impossible. Now on the other hand, if it's with a random person, go for the throat.
Yeah this is why I always do a 2/3 GOS. Warming up is a necessity often times. I can't tell you how many times I went easier on a person only to LOSE because my dumbass took them for a fool when they bust out a pressure flip, a few variations or like a 540 flip after struggling to do anything nollie switch fakie or other basics. They will get me on some basics too, and not even because I Didn't try, I just stopped doing them, basically the Rust effect they spoke about... And it's not that I'm good, it's just that I often get asked to play with ppl more or less just starting out with a few tricks so I'm taking it easy. Its a caser flip in mid air. It's like a half kick flip. But then you wrap it around like you do with a casper flip but it's with pop. Not a stationary trick
My secret weapon for games of skate is heel flip variations. When my first two tricks are a heel flip and laser flip it makes my opponent assume I’m way more dialed than I am😂
Same. Seems 99% of ppl focus on kickflip variations and rarely practice heelflip tricks. I used to skate with a dude that could nail like every kickflip variation in all 4 stances, but could barely regular heelflip.
I usually go through all the tricks im confident ill land (kickflips, heelflips, shuvs, 180s etc) hoping opponents will mess those up to get as many "easy" letters as possible, then get into hardflips, inward heels etc. Playing against "strangers" i stick to "typical" popped tricks. Playing with a good friend i will definitely do some pressure flips, toe flips and bubble flips 🤣
When ever we play SKATE, there's always 1 rule... u can't repeat a trick per game. So let's say I do a fakie tre flip and it gives him a letter, the next game, I can't do a fakie tre flip. It HAS to be a different variation of a tre flip. That way it keeps whom ever is competing and winning from just busting out the tricks you KNOW you can get someone a letter on. ALSO, I MUCH prefer those reeealy hard games of SKATE. Because after a while, the homie keeps getting you a letter on tricks that you eventually show up with and go "ohhhh you didn't know I got that now huh?"
P rod is speaking from a level few of us will understand .. most games are played to warm up between friends.. yeah, we wanna win but you gotta run thru the basics a little.. kick flip first is mandatory .. all people like prod know how to do is compete ,that why he’s one of the greats. But most of us aren’t looking for that. We just wanna have fun with our friends and use skateboarding to get away from the seriousness of the world..
i dont disagree with paul but i think its just one way of looking at it lol...with my friends if i went for the throat every game they would just not wanna play me next time

It seems like some of the guys are viewing this from a point of view where u play skate to warm up. Like the first thing u do at the park. Which yea a few little tricks to start would be appreciated. But if ur playing skate in the middle of a session, then do whatever trick u want.
I dont like when people keep trying the same tricks over and over again and missing them. I always try a different trick if I miss one before i try it again. Kind of feels like if one try a laser flip and the other try a switch laserflip, the first one to land it will win, if that makes any sense
I like to start with intermediate tricks like 360 flip fs flips bs flips nollie flips and stuff because those tricks arnt insanely hard but they take skill to do and then after i do those i start getting into nollie 360 flips and full cab flips and stuff to get sum letters

A friend is only a friend if he pushes if not who wants to know someone like that. Well p rod quiet a lot of people have friendships base on a thing called friendship hence the name. Not everyone has to win in life to enjoy it but then what do I know am a loser, but only in your eyes
I mean there's technically no rules. However; theres too many who bend whatever exists in terms of rules/etiquette. Like if I do a Fakie Heel, and you do a Fakie Kickflip instead of a Heel, that doesn't fly. I've had dudes on me count either/or just because a fakie flip = kick/heel... naaah son specifics matter in a game like S.K.A.T.E.
I'm glad they had PRod to answer this question, because he is competitive I find it comical how a lot of emotional fucks have been crying about Battle of The Berrics In the comment section complaining that such and such shouldn't do this or that lol
I hate that there’s this mentality that you should go easy on opponents to not hurt their feelings or whatever. Imo the point of playing the game is to win so go for the win. The side benefit is that you will learn new tricks from playing the game. Even if you get smoke by someone in 2 minutes, who cares? it’s just a game at the end of the day. I’m taking peoples throats this summer.
P ROD keeping it real, as always. I'm tired of The Berrics' obviously staged Game Of Skate's that go from 0 to 100, giving the illusion to the audience that that's actually how every Game Of Skate goes down. I wanna see it how it is. I wanna see heads roll as soon as the 1st trick gets landed!
Umm your realize ppl go IRL to those things... Fuuuuuuuwk you mean "staged" ??? Lmfao... The ones they do stage, the obvious ones are MADE obvious but are you baselessly implying that the BATB games are staged when it's offical ones, not random unsanctioned events, which even then some of those aren't/the off the cuff ones.... Not sure if youre joking or not, conflating the ones that are or are just parroting other sh*t I've seen a few ppl say now without proof of. *I'd love to stand corrected. Ppl tend to take it EASY and then get warmed up on a personal decision level, not because it's staged and they really wanna break out a fucking blizzard flip... Like are the audience just PAID to react and all that shit....do you think they can predict how to land, when to land, and all that other shit you CANT when it comes to skating....If so fake why the hell are actual contestants NERVOUS and or proud of going as far as they do... *it's almost like it's strategic, as long as youre on offense you CAN'T get letters so throw shit out and it really is the LITTLE shit often times that puts up a few or even a lot of letters, but risking it out the gate lands you on DEFENSE where now youre in that spot and all you miss is a letter. Not everyone is there early and warming up and the first letters are warm up. Also we look at these beast for what they are but that does NOT mean they don't get the jitters and a number of other factors.
Humanity went from vikings and barbarian warlords to "I don't want to hurt someone's feelings by doing a 360 flip for the first trick in a game of skate" in the blink of an eye. Everyone is so soft now 🤦♂️
Imagine citing some of the most insane monstrous R*ping creatures like we outta be like that or some shit and or it's BAD we deviated from that when you CORRECTED what youre implying... *Hell many of us are arguably and worse with the drone strikes and ease of access to cause harm... *Anyways that's piss poor essentialism of Humanity 1. 2. No one at ALL said they are trying not to hurt someone's feelings... How the fuck was that ya'll take away, he said they are WARMING up, this is a normal thing 1. 2. not everyone is on PAULS level, at some point he too started with those tricks... Plus it is skating, a kickflip IS someones worse trick and vise versa.... I guess he used the word etiquette so yall spinning it as if he's implying there are rules or HAS TO BE... Basically all he did was ask is it cuntish or not to start off going hard or not... *I hope you allow no complies and freestyle tricks or else if you don't it sounds like you have ETIQUETTE standards one can call it...
Saw an episode once where Kelly remembered loads of trendy shoes from the 90s, but apart from that he really doesn’t contribute anything substantial or entertaining.

A friend is only a friend if he pushes if not who wants to know someone like that. Well p rod quiet a lot of people have friendships base on a thing called friendship hence the name. Not everyone has to win in life to enjoy it but then what do I know am a loser, but only in your eyes
wow Prod handsome as ever
I mean, I get where he is coming from. But asking Paul this question is like asking MJ if he usually takes it easy in the first quarter...
I'm glad they had PRod to answer this question, because he is competitive
I find it comical how a lot of emotional fucks have been crying about Battle of The Berrics
In the comment section complaining that such and such shouldn't do this or that lol
Bring back the pressure flip in a big way. Let’s see it into rail tricks.
Ever heard of nate sherwood
Prod forgets not everyone's trying to go pro 😂 some of us are old dusty bones who need to go to work in the morning
We need an update hahaha did he beat his friends in SKATE after this? haha
We have yet to play, but I'll keep you posted. I'm gonna fucking land a pressure flip. MARK MY WORDS.
P-Rod's right. Feeding off each other drives you. Shark Ethic.
Having a stance
lol it'd be funny to play games of skate where u start with the hardest tricks and then at the end everyone's just doing ollies and shuvits lol
Lmao not everyone is as good as you guys. A front 180 is such a normal trick in any game of skate I play
As long as you don’t start pulling pogo and premo bs I’m fine with the basic rules lol
Defo not staged bro haha
Sorry to break ir to ya buddy. But they just that good
Just don't do it at a skatepark. You can skate flat anywhere so get tf out of the way.
Not being Sean Davis is having SKATE etiquette. They make fun of that game EVERY game now talking about wrapping your impossible
wait who's on the phone?
That'd be me. What's up? :)
@@rudyramirez125 just curious : )
Get 2 birds stoned at once
What about malto shit
bro. prod doesnt need warm up. thats the difference
everything you guys are saying are nothing but facts
you dont do an ollie in a game of skate
Humanity went from vikings and barbarian warlords to "I don't want to hurt someone's feelings by doing a 360 flip for the first trick in a game of skate" in the blink of an eye. Everyone is so soft now 🤦♂️
Lol but I guarantee you there were some dudes out there just trying to throw a rock farther than their homies or some shit everyday
wow dude so deep
we live in a society
My guess is Mota listened to this
if ur not a pro or skating with pros call your damn tricks out!!! lol
idk man
Yeah, let's all wear hats inside. Ok
You forgot your hat, didn't you?
Lmao dude it’s skateboarding, not the military
New around here, bud?
Lmaooooooo this ain't the fucking 1940s bro
Bro they are not attending mass at church you know?
Saw an episode once where Kelly remembered loads of trendy shoes from the 90s, but apart from that he really doesn’t contribute anything substantial or entertaining.
Kelly who?
I heard all the old timey skaters are weak to pressure flips... None of the local thrashers can pull them off either... I intend to master them myself.
It’s wired that this is a topic.
Everyone is so paranoid about offending the wrong person nowadays
@@EsotericOccultist fr bruh, having “skate etiquette” like huh ? i gotta start off with easy tricks to be polite in a game of skate and follow a certain rule to help with your feelings ? like
@@EsotericOccultist Wait do you think this is ACTUALLY serious because they gave a name like that to it???? Ummm where is that ANYWHERE enforced.. looks like you just got offended over something that isn't Lmfao. And it's literally POSING the question, not implying that there IS one... *And yes I'm being a stickycunt, I know youre not actually offended to be clear.
I mean outside of being honest, fully rotating, and a few other things, but NO, there is NOT and never has been a actual set rules list. *NOW if im warmed up and I know my opponent isn't then YEAH im not gonna be a drycunt and start with a ghetto Bird... Mainly because I can't do them 🥴🥴
People always say Nyjah is a dbag, I get way more dbag vibes from PRod tbh lol
this clip was informative and helpful, thanks so If you join a contest + game off's you should do your beast and battle, if you wanted to go far and do weird do it but with style please for entertainment + interesting purposes
Start with a standard bag...
End with specialty.
Dude so real I love this one
