    I have never owned a 1996 Toyota Camry but found this fascinating to watch regardless, due to the engineering involved!

      @@rudybishop9089 Thank you kindly. Aggitated horse in the gearbox could be just old fluid and crudded filter too? I do hope you find a fix, before your car enters a rodeo!

    Então, os rolamentos eu concordo que tem que ser prensados , eu falo do eixo interno que o sr coloca com a mão e entra com facilidade

      It has to be pressed in also. When I stuck it in there it was not all the way down.

    Hat's off, sir!
    That work looks incredibly difficult, lots of small parts, need to know the proper order of each component...
    Well, that's not the oil flush, eh?
    Thank you again, of course, I am not sure I'm gonna do it myself, maybe when I have a pension haha.

      You have either used the wrong gasket or there is a ball in the wrong spot in the valve body.

    Thank you for posting these transmission repair videos. They really give excellent insight in to what is involved in a rebuild. I do have one question which I hope you can help me with.
    I have an issue with the A541E in a 95 Camry V6 with 250K miles. Transmission fluid has had partial changes every 60K miles and shifts and operates perfectly with one exception. After last drain and refill, began to get occasional P0770 lockup code on hard acceleration at highway speed. Converter goes into normal lockup, but notice some slippage under increased load. Slippage seems more evident when fully warmed up.
    At this mileage 250K, would you expect the stator shaft bushing to be worn enough to cause this problem or are there other more likely possibilities ?

    • @CurmudgeonTransmission
      @CurmudgeonTransmission  3 месяца назад

      Could be the stator bushing, lock up relay valve sleeve in the upper valve body or just the clutch in the torque converter. With that kind of mileage it's probably getting close to rebuild time anyways. I would definitely put both stator bushings in it even if they looked good. I recommend Precision of New Hampton for the torque converter. Don't use anything but a Transtec kit for the rebuild kit.

      @@CurmudgeonTransmission Thanks for the advice and recommendations. Do you need a blind puller to remove the stator bushings, or can they just be driven out?

    • @CurmudgeonTransmission
      @CurmudgeonTransmission  3 месяца назад

      You can use either a blind hole puller or a bushing cutter.

      No it has to be pressed in and out. I don't have a camera at the press. That is why you did not see me pressing it in. But I did talk about it.

    Possible to convert a541e trans into lsd type ?
    Would you know who makes and sells performance clutch packs for the a541e ?

      The factory made a viscous coupling diff. for it. It does take different axle stubs for it, so you will need those as well. There are companies that sell them as well. Raybestos makes hi-energy clutches for them as well. You can get them from WIT or Transtar. Links are in the description. Thanks for watching. gripperlsd.com/product-category/toyota/

    Great vid. I have a question about a leak I have. It appears to be coming from the piece you're installing at time 1:41:00. If that's where the driver's side axle goes in, then it appears my leak is coming from that. Does it have a gasket in between where it mates with the tranny? I notice it appears to have a seal inside. My seal may be leaking and the tranny fluid may be coming out where the axle goes in.
    Do you have any part numbers or where I can get this gasket and seal, or does it have to come from a kit?
    I just cleaned the area and I'm trying to trace where the fluid originates. But knowing the seal and/ or gasket would help. Thanks.

      Thanks. There is no gasket. It only uses silicone between the housing and the case. 87077A from WIT. Dealer 90311-50011.

      @@CurmudgeonTransmission Thanks for the part number, I accidentally ordered the RH. It's corrected now. I ordered the Aisin sealant equivalent to Toyota's sealant.

      Another question about the LH bearing retainer at 1:41:00. Could a source of a tranny oil leak be from the retainer's loss of FIPG adhesiveness? If it can, then I'll take the LH retainer off. It appears that I can do this with the tranny installed. Are these 6 bolts accessible with the transmission on the car? I'll start work on the car sometime today. Thanks again.

    • @byrongolden1
      @byrongolden1 5 месяцев назад

      Ok, cancel the question. I removed the LH bearing retainer anyway to install the seal which was a lot easier. I applied the Aisin AB1281B, equivalent to the Toyota FIPG part number. It's good for tranny, differential covers, etc. All good. Your video prompted me to correctly find out my own answers to my questions.

      I believe it came in with no forward. Rubber seals are getting hard more than likely. You can try putting a couple cap fulls of brake fluid and it "may" get you by for awhile.

The engine is full of life, 275,000 miles. ive been procrastinating calling the wrecking yard. its been in the family since 98. im the third owner. Ive done all the major maintanance requirements myself. However, the tranny is out of my league, and Im in no position to pay somebody to fix it.
