Thank you for answering my query in a practical way. You are awesome man 😍. Also i got this from jeep customer care if you are interested to read it: “The all-new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe models carry the Rock-Trac 4x4 system that includes a two-speed transfer case with a 4:1 low-range gear ratio, full-time 4x4, front and rear next-generation Dana 44 axles, Tru-Lok electric front- and rear-axle lockers. The Wrangler Rubicon 4xe has an impressive crawl ratio of 77.2:1, which makes scaling any obstacle easy. Wrangler Rubicon models also offer improved articulation and total suspension travel with help from a front axle, electronic sway-bar disconnect. Together, these components contribute to the maximum off-road prowess Wrangler Rubicon is known for. The Wrangler 4xe includes Selec-Speed Control with Hill-ascent and Hill-descent Control. This allows drivers to control vehicle speed up and down steep, rugged grades with the transmission shift lever.”
What a great capability! My '94 Toyota LJ72 has a hand throttle idle control for this, but with the manual we sometimes have to avoid the clutch or risk rolling away. It seems way safer with your automatic!
I'd actually never thought about hill control in reverse, and it's nice to know it works before getting out there and needing it. The first time I ended up on a steep, narrow, and ultimately impassable trail was in my first jeep, manual JKU..backing a manual down the side of that mountain a full half mile with no place to turn around shaved years off my life, this definitely would have made it a whole lot easier.

Hill decent is what the jk model had. The icon was going down the Hill. This is crawl control and sets the speed whether you're on a hill or flat terrain
Attention-Stand by for a Public Service Announcement. While your technically advanced Jeep will continue without input from your feet, you will still have to apply effort to steering to avoid unnecessary leaves, branches, trees, cliffs, and meteorites. Stay aware my friends, it's not a tesla with autopilot.
I would be very interested to see how the speed select works on loose surfaces such as gravel when the vehicle starts to slide. Does it disengage and the driver must take control or is it capable of bringing the vehicle to a safe stop?
there was a neat spot still left of route 66 the old ford model T's type cars had to climb hill in reverse or could not drive up the hill. fuel pump deal I think.
I feel that it would have idled up those hills regardless of being in hill descent mode? Would have been interesting to bump it up to 5mph to test that, but we know that in 4lo and especially with all that electric torque, you’d definitely crawl up things regardless. After further research, I stand corrected. Your 21 4xe has Select-Speed control, which is different from hill descent control. In earlier JL’s there was only HDC, which could not apply throttle.
Hey Brandon, great video! I noticed that your backup camera guide lines were missing. I have a manual transmission 2018 JLUR (same roof!) and the guide lines disappear periodically (sometimes the buttons along the bottom of the screen don’t work either). Do you have any information on these gremlins? Thanks!
I’m curious as to how your gas range with a full tank of gas is at 338 miles? I just bought a Sahara 4xe 2 weeks ago and with a full tank my gas range was at like 218. I will say when I bought it my MPG average was like 14.9 and now it’s 22.9 and I still have over half a tank of gas left. So do you think when I fill up gas my range would increase by then?
I God would like to see 2nd parking brake handle added, so we(never drove or been in jeep full truth) jeeper get 1 park brake right side & 1 park brake left rear side partial or full engage bronco digital tight turn effect for fraction of price. Also non locker jeeps like Sahara can hve poor man's 2 park brake cheater lockers if u partially engage them.
Hi Brandon. Can you tell me what level 2 charger to order for my upcoming 4xe. I called my dealer, and Mopar, and I'm not getting anywhere. I found them on Mopar site but $649.00 seems a bit pricey since Amazon has many around $300. Can you make any suggestions for a level 2 charger. Much appreciated. Love your videos but you already know that. :)

Dude I luv your vids 👍. My wife’s 4xe should be here in 2wks. You have definitely made us smarter.
Awesome!!
And again you answered a question no one knew. Thank you again!👍👍 Awesome channel my friend!
Thanks again!
Finally a legitimate need for those pesky backup lines! 😂 I had no idea Selec-Speed worked in reverse. So cool!
It was awesome!!

You're my go to site. First time jeep buyer..I'll be following your videos ...well done

You are correct.
@@BrandonHaneline the kids ca.ll it duck mode. The icon looks like a duck
Technical term is Selec-Speed Control (SSC) p.299 in owner’s manual.
@@briangeffert7628I wish you weren't so awkward bud
It’s the Marlin Crawler built into stock Jeeps. Nice!
So we do have crawl control
I just used it extensively in 2 days of crawling at Jeep Jamboree. It was awesome.
Thats awsome. Ive havent used mine yet but I never thought about reverse.
Yep works the same.

neat, thanks for this video. I'm interested in porting openpilot to our new Wrangler 4xe that is expected here in Utah next month!
Can’t wait to try it with my 4xe
Just found that button. Thx for the lesson 👍
Thanks Brandon!

I like any thing that makes cars safer push button or tech or 2nd park brake cheap add simple fix better.
That be nice to see some off road ..any plan ?

Descent means going downward. You did reverse going upward.
😊 Jeep actually calls it select-speed rather than descent control.
OMG scratches!!! That's a no no!
😅
The trees🤣🤣🤣
Smarter!

amzn.to/3qAh5m1 this on has a blue tooth and has WiFi. This is a good one. But pricy.
amzn.to/2SydV5G is cheaper but no WiFi or app control.
This is the one I have. amzn.to/3x9lzm7
Speed it up 4 low will climb a tree at a idle. My truck in 4 low will idle up a hill with a 10k trailer on the back
A bit nit picky but degrees not percent. They are different, 45 degrees is 100%. Otherwise another fine video.
Just curious, would the 100% actually be the 90 degrees (mathematically)? 😁😁😁
This is Select-Speed Control. Vehicles with Hill Descent Control will not do this. The symbol is slightly different.
Jeep should be in neutral when shifting into low range not drive.
And rolling at 2-3mph according to the owners manual.
