I went with a BM skimmer and I can't say it skims well. I've had it for about 10 months and its a very wet skim. I've adjusted the water level, the air intake..ect. I like the footprint and size but that's about it. Love the video!
i started out this hobbie with the magus skimmers as they were affordable and i cant knock thier preformance cost ratio but ill be honest as the years have gone on ive gotten to use vertex and deltecs and for some reason they just skim so much better, they magus has served me well in the past but ill never go back theres just something about the quality of skim from the vertex and deltec that is worth the extra money, the only negative ive found with the deltecs and vertex thou which i never got with the magus and another reason i thing the vertex and deltec do skim stronger is that ive noticed a drop in potasium which is a param i never had a issue with using the magus
Agreed. It's hard to explain to beginners though to go with the better, more expensive skimmers. And wanted to choose something budget friendly that does work. We may switch out down the line to show the difference.
+reef roid Deltec skimmers are great but cost 3 times as much. We run a TC 3070S on our 800 g and love it. We are trying to keep this build more budget friendly. The Curve 5 has been working very well to date.
I'm having major issues running the curve 5 in this sump. I cant seem to get the bubble/water level high enough in the skimmer to get it to skim anything. I've adjusted everything and have taken it apart and cleaned it 3 times (it's only 2 weeks old). Any ideas?
