I’ve owned the mackie thump15 for over 5 years and played them in 94 degrees heat for over 4 hours & they have never over heated. I’ve played them in the rain and they just kept on playing.
a trusted opinion in loudspeakers (minus your clear bias against Yorkville) i appreciated this review, but those speakers aren't for me.. Anytime i see colour on DJ gear it gives me a cheap feeling about it..
I own the DRM series. Performance wise they are great! The only thing I don’t like, is the design. They only have one carrying handle. For speakers that heavy, two handles would’ve been better. But, overall I got my money’s worth. 👍🏾
SPL sound pressure should be measured at a distance of 1 meter, 3.3 feet, such as the sensitivity of the speakers. in theory, every extra meter of distance you lose 3 decibels
I HAVE THE 12 INCH MACKIE THUMPS AND THEY SOUND GREAT CLEAN SOUND... I CHOOSE THE MACKIE THUMPS OVER JBL NOT BECAUSE OF THE PRICE BUT FOR THE GREAT SOUND QUALITY THAT MACKIE OFFER 👍👍👍
This is a real cool equipment. The power SPL it can reach its peak is 133db. Over all the input and features all are excellent. this is where RCF lacks. RCF's leading edge is its FIR phase technology. i'd say I rate mackie SRT 9.2 out 10 and RCF 915 9.5 out of 10. The only deciding factor for me will be the budget
I think that they are super speakers. I think if anyone has an EV ZLX 15P, these speakers are the way they should go, if they wana to buy new speakers. And I like them more than JBL speakers, because the price and the function of these speakers! Btw: very good video, Barr.
If using Bluetooth I noticed the thump boosted series couldn't get the same volume as the xlr in. Maybe double-check the spl with a hardline? Great video as always!
@@brucegarethgeorge Could be. I was using a Note 20 Ultra with Bluetooth volume at max on the device as well as the speaker's input channel and master. Same phone with an xlr to 3.5mm adapter produced much higher levels.
Would love to hear how the SR18s sound when paired off with the SRT215. I own RCFs and Yorkies but they are older so these newer models may produce more output and features of half the price of my HD32s. Side note - since they can do things like BT inputs wouldn't it be nice to offer an RF connection for wireless signaling? Like allow all of these speakers to connect to an audio mesh system where the main hub could simply be a router of some sort? Ignore me...I thought you were taking DJ's wish lists! this is some wording about the apps: "With the SRT Connect™ app available for iOS and Android® devices, you get complete control over everything and then some for up to 2 speakers simultaneously. Quickly access levels, EQ, meters, and configuration. Plus, you can save memory presets to streamline setup at your next gig." So Im guessing it cannot do simultaneous control for 3+ speakers...including subs? Horrible limitation for such a good, simple feature.
Mackie would have to send me a free set too if they wanted to change my opinion of their speakers. Only then will I stop giving my story in the comments of RUclips Mackie reviews. I started out with Mackie Thump 15A primarily due to the price point. They served my purpose well until... it took a whole nine months to lose one of them. The sub had a dead short. Now, before anyone claims clipping/overdriving, know I was very conservative with them. I splurged and replaced the 1300W Mackie 15s with 2000W QSC K12.2s. The QSC cost twice as much but everything about them proved to be twice as good. I went ahead and ordered a new woofer to fix the Mackie, but that was only to sell them.
The SRM V class speakers I'm hearing are better than the QSC. Bold claim for sure but people that have bought them seem to think so. I'm honestly stuck between the SRT and SRM V class. SRT class is supposed to damn good. Bit is damn good, good enough? I want to hear thumping bass and clarity, that I will think it's just impossible. I think the V class will do that.
120-125db is crazy rezult for majority respectabile speaker 133db even on RCF 745 or HDM45 are a very short term in very specific condition. But the quality of sound is most metter After having many of top series speakers like RCF 745 and HDM45, FBT Himaxx 60a, Montarbo Spot, DB Technologies ingenia, Opera, Dynacord Vl series, EV ETX, ELX etc I come to idea that speaker coil size, amplifier tons of watts and other specs are just marketing. There are some speaker with 10" or duble 10" that easily beat 15" speaker. The best way to chouse is to listen by your own ears, side by side one speaker that you intend to buy, with one that are most respected in yor industry (like RCF 745 or JBL srx815) Then you make your calcs (price, power, quality, design etc) and take decision
That looks like theidentical woofer used in the thump 15a. Same shallow cone.. are we to believe Mackie threw a few more watts into this cabinet and used the same drivers?
Srm 1 best sound ever from Mackie. Tried other new models from now and forget it. No definition no low bass. Maybe..this new Srt will get Mackie on the top sales again.
Hi DJ rollout,I have Mackie 450 Mack mixer Mack 18 sub , want to add some 15 " speaker. The Mack 650 I heard the Maki 650 keep cutting off scared to buy them. I listen to the harbinger 15 "4000 series 2500w they sound good. Will different speaker mess up my sounds. Don't like buying speakers I can't hear first but my Mackie 450 sound very good and the new harbinger 4000 series sound very good what should I do
1600w amp is fine if there are 2 circuits within range. Most venues will offer 1 circuit for a total of 2400 watts in perfect conditions (120v on 20amp line). So 2 stacks of a sub and top puts you WAY over 2400 watts...Even if you run them at half their peak capacity, you’re way over on a circuit meant to run a max of 2400 watts. Good luck not throwing that breaker! There’s a lot to be said about efficiency, which these cabinets clearly are not.
They ain’t putting out 1600watt I use qsc k12.2 2000watt speakers with 1000w subs I run one side with my DJ controller 2 laptops 12 channel mixer 2 mic’s. Never blew a breaker.

I like the light and stuff on it i guess im opposite of you because i think it makes it feel professional and stands out
Niceeeez!!! JBL WATCH OUT. This looks like a great value with out the overpricing.
How does this compare to the Mackie SRM SERIES? I think there is a $100 difference per speaker. Thoughts?

interested in the thump 215xt but someone recently told me that farting in a can is better than mackie speakers. Am lost.

I suspect the bass will improve once the speaker is fully run in.
Thank you for your review. How do I now when the Mackei SRM210 V-class is clipping? Where is the clipping indicator?
For $800 get premium QSCs
These Mackie got 70w power amplifier inside them. I don't know how these will last long.
