I was not psychologically ready to hear that Divergent was published 10 years ago….. I was 14….. I’m 24 now 😩😩😩 this series opened up a new world to me and made me write my own stories🥺💕
I did tho, it’s called denial, I forgot the real ending and made my mind believe that they got married, had kids and lived happily. Cause if I didn’t, I’d be emotionally scarred for life
I'm a 68 year old man, and I just finished rereading the Divergent series for about the 3rd time, and I still love it! What I would love to ask Veronica Roth is, how did you let them screw the 3rd movie up so horribly? The 1st movie was great, the 2nd veered away from the books a bit, but was still recognizable. But the film version of Allegiant? It looked nothing like the book! They changed the story so much, it was hardly recognizable. The fact that all three films had different screenwriters certainly didn't help. Maybe in a few years, somebody will make a new Divergent series of films, and follow the brilliant story that Veronica Roth gave us!
I cried for over an hour and a half after hearing the ending.(I was listening to an audiobook) I might have to reread the series because I haven't read it in over a year and a half. I'm probably going to cry again at the end, but it's okay. I just felt so connected to the characters. I love that series and it's one of the best ones I've read.
I'm very late to the Divergent experience and I finished the audiobook yesterday. The controversial ending is proof of what a good writer Veronica Roth is. However, this is just my opinion, I enjoy fiction that has a happy ending, it's a great mental escape from reality. Tobias's grief was so tangible, again only a good writer can bring the reader in to experience the emotions of the character in a deep way. I suppose this is the beauty of writing and art it sparks conversation and emotions in us that we need to process through. Tris was an inspiring character.
Very interesting the answer of how to change the story. For some reason something stood out to me that I really liked the character of Caleb Prior more than Tris Prior. And I had always thought that it would have made for a much better story if Caleb was the Divergent. With Tris character still joining Dauntless, but more as the character following Kate Winslet. Or if you like the protagonist to represent the writer, Tris still being the Divergent, but joining Erudite. With Caleb joining Dauntless.
Veronica I am reading the series currently I can’t bring myself to read allegiant I think too many people have given me spoilers because I’m so attached to the character trace and it makes me very emotional but I was very lucky that all your books were available to me in braille and I think I thought re-read lots of the scenes especially the fairest wheel seen the zip line seem on the ferris wheel seen and even the films were really really good and I really like the “use the fact that selflessness and bravery on all that different
It’s 12 years for me and being from the city I loved reading a book placed in it… man this book holds a great place in my heart 🤎 can’t believe I was 13 reading this epic adventure!
Like others I can't believe it's been 10 years either. I very much enjoyed the books and the movies. Not being a writer myself, I just don't understand why some of these wonderful books have to have such dark endings. Is this supposed to be imitating real life or something. Whatever happened to happy endings? (I heard a rumor that I don't really believe, that the writer did not want another happy ending book like The hunger games ❤️Is this now considered too boring? Maybe it's because I'm no longer a young adult but I am tired of all these wonderful stories I read(even if they're written for young adults) having to have some kind of tragic or disappointing ending. Do these wonderful writers feel like they have to do something new, something different than happy ever after? I know the author said that she did not feel there could be any other type of ending and after all she is the writer. And I also know that some of the greatest books ever written have sad endings. It still makes me so sad I can only reread the first book of the series, diversion.
I didn't mind the ending to Allegiant after I did some thinking, it was sad yes, but at its core it's what the entire series is about and as the readers we're supposed to understand
All books cannot end with that happy romantic ending that we expected from say the hunger games series on the Twilight series and it took me awhile to accept it too but I think for a lot of people we could see it coming uterus is somebody who constantly even if she sacrifices herself has done stuff for the good of others and I think Veronica made a very beautiful ending even if we did do you know cry bucket falls
Hi..can you help me please...like...I'm a new reader and I wanted to know which one comes first...I got "four a divergent collection" so is it the first book??? Or....am I wrong??
It’s pretty cringe how much of a self insert teen fantasy this entire series is. OMG NOBODY UNDERSTAND HER AND SHE IS SPECIAL AND UNIQUE. JUST LIKE MEE!
I had never heard of Allegiant. Just watched the movie on Amazon. I could tell that this was fiction that was written by a woman when I watching the movie, so I wanted to find out more. It's weird, men and women really have different needs in a story. Broadly, I don't think this appeals to men interested in science fiction. Nothing wrong with film per se, just feels overly feminine, very similar feel to Hunger Games.
can’t believe divergent came out 10 years ago!🤯 i feel so old😂🥲😭
Tris and Tobias definitely gives me nostalgic feels every single time I think about them!

Сочувствую.
That ending destroyed me and I am still not over it. It was the first time I sobbed at a book ending.
Same! ugly cry!
LITERALLY SAME. I CRIED FOR THREE DAYS
I don’t think anyone can get over it.
I did tho, it’s called denial, I forgot the real ending and made my mind believe that they got married, had kids and lived happily. Cause if I didn’t, I’d be emotionally scarred for life
And then there's this book we can be mended in which Tobias and Cristina star dating😢🤢🤮

Thanks for making and sharing this interview! Even after 10 years, Divergent is still one of the most adventurous and emotional dystopic series 💖
So thrilling!

Just read it for the first time. still wallowing in self-pity. Thank you veronica, you are awesome.
Most definitely did not expect the end.
Can't believe it's been a decade 😭♥️
I read it when I was in elementary school transitioning into middle school. I feel so old right now
"Be brave" 🔥
I appreciate this reflective video. I still remember where I was when I read the ending. 🤫

I still remember seeing the dolls in the 2012 barbie magazine when I was a little. This also explains the chaos of insurgent

I’m sorry 10 years!?!???
So basically, I accidentally bought the books just in time for the 10th anniversary? Well, that's cool!!!
You did it right first time. Great writing and amazing concepts
This is spooky .. the past few days was thinking about the movie 😨

Dang! I just found this and never heard of it before and so awesome. Just binge watched the whole thing.
She seems so nice!
Inspiring!
I want to be a successful novelist! Having a successful career as a professional writer is my main goal in my life.
Don't write a trash book like Divergent and you'll have a long career.
After two years, I'm finally over Tris's death but I'm still not over Tobias and Christina
А я вообще о них не знал и вообще как то пофиг
You mean the moment they had after Tris died? What about it?
Excuse me WHAT

I would love to know if this purity war was something that happened globally or just in the US.
Amazing books
I am so happy there wasn't a love triangle.
Ps. I wasn't ready for this video lmao, 10 YEARS? I got into fanfiction because of Allegiant haha
Who would be the triangle? Tris Tobias and Christina?? 😢😮😅
I love she so passionate about it
Meu Deus! 10 ANOS!!
I finished dive4bent series 2 month ago i really liked it but when tris died i was freaked out
She actually talked about the love triangle in an Insurgent special edition.

I will never forgive Veronica for what she did .. my mental health was never the same since then

They said did it because she wanted it different from the hunger games
WHY DID THIS COMMENT MAKE ME CRY
This mentally broke me… don’t people read to get away from life…? UGHHHH
How do u not know the characters name who got with tris u wrote the books didn't u?! Like wtf
I really wish tris didn’t die or at least don’t let Tobias and Chris together, it is so wrong😞
Why u make the ending like that, 😐😫,,,,,I can't imagine this dreathfully, tris death,, ..,tobaise with Cristina....,

@@xenos2113 Divergent is the first book, and then Insurgent, then Allegiant, and Four is a prequel.
