Fighting the BBEG *First Nat-20* "For the last time, we did not order a giant trampoline" *Second Nat-20* "Wow, what are the odds that trap door leading me out here."
Makes me remember how a well build Divination Wizard in 3.5 could give you a -10 penalty on your next save once a day, cast disintegrate on you, and then as you roll natural 20 brags about how he predicted it all.
It's all fun and games until a halfling divination wizard rolls in with a Vorpal blade to decapitate the BBEG. Do not do this unless you want to draw the ire of the DM.
If the DM gives the party a Vorpal blade they lost all rights to call bull on the party. Just get a fighter with elven accuracy and haste and watch as they roll 12 dice a turn with only one needing to be a 20
ha i've got that lol. i didnt realise it until there were memes abt that race and subclass so I decided to embrace it and stick a lucky on there as well
The fact that divination wizard can force any creature to fail Is Amazing to me. Immagine fighting a boss, then you decide It Is over and force a fail on polymorf to turn him into a frog, then have your familiar drop him from 60m for 20d6 damage. Actually doable at lvl 7 lol. No Need to have success when you can force everyone else to fail. Can beat any class in the game as long as you get a 1, no joke, can also force legendary resistances from bosses
Halfling, divination wizard, with the lucky feat. “The dice must flow.” because the amount of things that you can affect with three rolls and pre-prepared dice numbers is crazy.
The character I’m playing in my current campaign is a Divination Wizard/Gunslinger Fighter with the lucky feat. At his heart, he’s a Gambler. I’ve worked hard to make him feel like an entirely unique class based completely around his luck and pre-cognition abilities. He’s trying to use his uncanny luck combined with divination magic to rewrite his own destiny, trying to locate and then learn how to control the Deck of Many Things. And he’s neutral evil. And the party doesn’t know that. Aren’t I naughty?
shoulda brought the rogue in to throw the dart. he misses and has a mental breakdown because he never misses, +5 DEX +6 proficiency reliable talent all for nothing. also sorc is right to turn them away, any smart div wizard would wait for a natural 20 portent and barge in to do the interview that day, guaranteeing them the job.
Divination wizards: You have good rolls and bad rolls stored up for important situations, you use them, and find out 5 minutes later something worse came that you needed those rolls for. This sums up the class perfectly
I was finishing my soup, and had the bowl up to my face when he said get out of my house right now IT TOOK ALL OF MY STRENGTH NOT TO BURST OUT LAUGHING.
Look, Sorcerer got me down bad. I can’t lie. I feel like the ending dialogue with him asking to crash at her place, and her response, were both extremely accurate to what would happen if I asked. 😭
Good rolls help yourself and party succeed, bad rolls go to enemies to make them fail I'm unsure I understand the joke here, is portent bad in a way I don't know of?
Divination are fucking amazeballs to play with (if they aren't jerks but that can be said of all classes) because they basically get to "future predict" where every time they long rest they roll 2 d20 (more at higher levels) and "store" those rolls. They can basically swap almost any other d20 roll made by enemies or players, with those "stored" rolls. Effectively they "see" the future every time they take a long rest. But playing with one means you can manipulate dice, like " oh no the bbeg just made a save, how about I swap that save with the 5 I have stored so he is almost assured to fail it" or alternatively give a player a 15 for one of their rolls. But this means its kinda like bardic inspiration except it can be used to negatively affect enemies. So its kinda like a mage bard combo class in its utility, where you are still a wizard with access to fireball and all those fun spells but also with the ability to help out party members with rolls and dice manipulate. Its like having a party support wizard. Only problem is this is basically all game mechanic and not really in character, so only the wizard kinda knows he's doing it.
Reminds me of my chaotic neutral divination wizard "dave burn", who was literally a 6 foot tall forest gnome. yes, the last name of "burn" was chosen specifically because he was a forest gnome.
Oh we need one for all the monks meeting especially sun soul and shadow monk Maybe make it a jojos reference or some other anime And a tavern brawl with all barbarians
I had a player who waited until he had a low number so that he could succeed at using Magic Jar on a gladiator. Suddenly he's a wizard with a massive amount of hit points.
The Party Diviner: "What will we find in the dungeon? Weal or Woe?" Me, the DM: (The DMG states that if both good and bad things can be found in the dungeon, a valid answer is:) "UNCLEAR" Rest of the Party: "It's ALWAYS unclear!"
I hate how defining the portent feature is for the div wizard, i just want a wizard with ritual caster (cleric) who can find out information about the enviorment, not to be seen as the dice accountant
Sorry, last video was exported wrong so it cut out most of it, here is the fixed one now!
Ah yes. That makes sense
The video was so accurate that we saw glimpses into the future video before it was fully released. It was not an error, but a big brain move.
Oof
I saw this video before it was cool.

I'm now imagining a divination wizard who sleeps in trying to roll both good and bad on the daily divination.

Vorpal Blade does not decapitate if the enemy has legendary actions, which the BBEG surely does

And you only have 2 dice per day, so he spend it all making he miss.
Also you must declare before the roll and be within 30ft of the target so portent isnt actually as OP as people think. Now Lucky feat is OP.
I see their recruiting to fight the baby
A yes the classic divWiz. I can give you any result. Once, a day, based on my dice rolls. Where are you going.

To be fair, the divination wizard is extremely powerful if used properly
he should had go halfling

Bad rolls are the best because you know that save that enemy has to make or be stunned for a round yeah sorry dm he rolled a 3
