Watching the exchanges between Noval and Roger and Carlos from 2:22 brought tears to my eyes. I followed the rivalry at the US Open in 2008 and I perfectly understand what this means. Great days we had in the sport. I will cry the day Novak retires and I am a very devoted Federer fan

With Djokovic, it happens now what I always thought would happen: contested and in some quarters unpopular during the prime of his career, wildly popular at the end of his career, especially now where he does not win everything anymore. It has also to do with him - he has become much more self assured and relaxed, and just sends out positive vibes - remindsme a bit of Jimmy Connor in his late use. And of course with the fact that he is the last man standing from tennis’s golden generation. People just don’t want this era to go, and with Djokovic it will go for good. As for the hosts, Shanghai is a fantastic city, one of the great cities of the world. And China is one of the world‘s greatest country, and the Chinese are among the finest people you will find. It’s just a pity that politics is stopping us from growing closer to one another. A more open, freer and peaceful China would be such a gift to the world.
