    I wanna give applause and respect to Qinwen for a really good display in this tournament, nothing to be ashamed of losing to Sabalenka, I did kinda expect it, had a little Stake bet on Aryna just because of how strong of a player she is. Now I wanna give a huge congratulations to Sabalenka for winning this tourney for the third consecutive time, she is my favorite player right now for sure. And for anyone saying woman tennis is boring, watch this game! and be quiet 😁

      Don't think that's the case here. At this point, Saba is a better player, as Pegula said, Saba is the best player on hardcourt at this moment. Zheng needs to continue to improve her game, that's all.

    • @notapplicable4283
      @notapplicable4283 8 часов назад +3

      I think Zheng's mental game is actually part of strength, she's very good at problem solving and fighting from behind. Her issue came mostly from a game perspective. The deadly first serve fell apart in the third set, otherwise she could have maybe gotten it to 4-4 and used the momentum to cross the finish line. Her return game this year in general is not good, in fact, her return games won stat is less than 40% and lower than her 2023 stat. You just can't beat Sabalenka, who is probably the most aggressive player in the WTA right now, without a strong defensive game (like Coco in her first set in the semi finals or Muchova at the China Open, where they were able to handle her power and get the ball back while keeping her from getting into a dominant rhythm).
      If she can work with a serve specialist to make the 1st serve more consistent, develop a stronger 2nd serve (Sabalenka herself worked with a specialist for just a few months to fix her serve) and improve her return game, she should be able to hang with anyone in the WTA.

    • @user-hm8nb5jr3w
      @user-hm8nb5jr3w 8 часов назад

      @@notapplicable4283 Zheng's first serve win rate is the best in WTA, two years in a row. Her first serve fell apart in the 3rd set today mostly because Saba's return was too good, giving pressure to the server. Zheng didn't have a problem with her 1st serve when playing, say Paolini. In my view, She can't serve the same to Saba vs playing with Paolini. Zheng needs to develop more variety when her first serve is less better and finds a way around when her opponent's returns are good.

    Qinwen needs to improve her serve consistency by 10%, and get back her 2023 return game where she similarly won about 10% more return games, and then this mountain can be overcome. The only way to get past Aryna is solid defense that can knock off her rhythm and pace like Muchova or first set Coco from yesterday.

    So now Sabalenka is 806 points ahead in WTA Race which will be the same I guess as WTA ranking at the end of the year. If she goes and win Tokio, she'll get another 500 points making the gap 1306 points in WTA Race with 1500 points to get in Rijad BUT every match in group there gives at least 125 points. So Sabalenka just needs to go on court on 2 matches no matter the score to end year as Nr 1! ..
    Knowing that she lost Nr 1 spot last year in WTA Finals I guess she'll go to Tokio to be certain before RIjad and secured at Nr 1 spot. Off course she doesn't have to win In Tokio but I guess is a fair chance of it.
    If Aryna doesn't go to Tokio and will play only in Rijad then to be sure at Nr 1 spot she would need to win 3 group matches as I see point system. Getting a final in Rijad no matter what was done in the group (1,2,3 wins in the group) secures also the TOP spot.
