I appreciate this video as it just gives the right amount of detail or intro to each stop and food. Moreover, the places around the area where it'll likely be less crowded than the main tourist hubs. Keep it up!!

Fukuoka is one of my favorite places to visit in Japan. I use it as a base for western Japan for day trips to Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Kagoshima, etc. since I don't like to change hotels for a 1 day trip. Great atmosphere, not a lot of tourists compared to places like Kyoto and Tokyo. Fukuoka also has my favorite yakitori restaurant Hachibei, a small chain of restaurants centered in Fukuoka. There's a branch in one of the walkway off Hakata station and a couple closer to Tenjin. One of their specialties is miso pork belly yakitori which is the best thing I've eaten eve. Grilled miso and pork belly, just a perfect combination.
The Kanmon Tunnel at around 18:50 was the subject of a Document 72 Hours show on NHK. Somewhat surprising that is was so empty on your visit since apparently a lot of people hike back and forth for exercise, and it's also somewhat of a local tourist attraction.
Surprisingly, I haven't made a visit to Dazaifu Tenmangu. It was on my list of things to do on my last trip, but there was very heavy rains so I changed my schedule to do indoor things. Definitely will visit my next trip.

Very nice! We lived in Nakasu, Fukuoka for many years. Mojiko is a bit odd, but nice. Not so many tourists go that way, Kitakyushu is industrial. Dazaifu is amazing, there are trees that are 1500 years old there. Many sweet shops there, sorry, but not for me, only three things in Japan I can not eat: mochi, ume and shiso leaves. Yes, good places to eat in the basement of Parco, there used to be a conveyer belt place too which was good and cheap, I do not know if it is still working. One eats very well in Fukuoka and it is a very relaxed city, in fact my favourite city in the world. I know it in and out, think I have been everywhere on my bicycle. Many actors, comedians, TV-people and others relocate to Fukuoka from Tokyo for cheaper cost of living, better food, less stress and less risk of the big earthquake. Easy to commute by plane or shinkansen. Btw, the shinkansen to Tokyo reaches 325 km/h. Fukuoka is also well placed to go to Korea, the Beetle fast boat takes 4 hours to Busan, a flight is 45 minutes. We went several times to Busan, a charming city and very cheap. The KTX can take one further up the country. Sorry you did not try the yatais, some have surprising seafood like big shells etc. Most are in Nakasu, but there are also some in Tenjin and on Showa-Dori. Arigato!

You really know your stuff. I think the mitarashi soft cream from Ebisu Soy Sauce in Futsukaichi is the best.

Which 9h hostel did you check into? Hakata branch? Or the one in the underground mall?
