Everything about this bike is right up my alley; sad to see so much hate online by people who haven't even seen it - let alone ride it - and are complaining about lack of power when in reality their skills only allow them to do highway pulls and not much more. I do however admit that the bike is a bit pricey...
The concept of the bike is great, I've been waiting for it for at least a couple of years but it's way overpriced for the components used on it... Cheap brakes and lot of electronic functions as optional... And the Demo-mode for me is the final deal-breaker, you can't ask to people to pay extra for stuff already installed in bike!!! Sorry KTM, I've always been a fan of yours and I've owned several KTMs, but this time your marketing people got it wrong...
Sure wish the SMT was available in the US.... There are lots of mtn curves in the Shenandoah valley in Virginia. Keep me posted on availability, think that beast was created for me😂
I agree with everything but LOUD?! It's 88 dB and even with Akrapovic slip-on it's not more.. So that's actually my only regret on this bike, there is no sound.. I don't need it crazy loud, but when there is db limit of 95 db here in some parts of Austria, having it at 88 seems a bit over the top silent.. So selling it as LOUD is way out of what it actually is.. It's a bit like saying the cornering ABS/TC knows what kind of grip level is on dry/wet/gravel street like mentioned here - which clearly is also not correct... It's ok to make the product as cool as possible, but you should still stick to the truth at least in the core of it..
Supermoto Touring = more touring capability than the Duke 890R and the 690 SMCR + more aggressive cornering capability than the 890 Adventure. There's absolutely nothing to confuse about the bike.
@Phạm Mạnh it's an oxymoron. Touring on a supermoto is not fun. No wind screen, fairings, or luggage bags. Touring implies big miles on highways. You ever ridden a supermoto on the highway for long stretches? Not fun.
@@wowIloveusernames You can put luggage on the SMT, surely the wind protection isn't the best but it's better than both the Duke and the SMC, and i can bet that i can get longer miles on the SMT than the Duke or the SMCR. Like i said, it's the mix of both worlds, having fun around corners and can go decent miles. Nothing to confuse about 😕
Besides, you should have a doctor check your eyes again. This surely does have windscreen but not a tall windscreen just like the BMW F700/750GS. You can order a custom windscreen like here in Vietnam or from well-reputed brands like Puig, Givi, Touratech,...
I always knew KTM officials were a bit crazy, otherwise they wouldn't build those kind of bikes. But Demo-Mode? Like, have you lost your minds? Paying extra money for hardware thats already built-in. Big No for me. Either include the features originally, or leave it out completely. You can't even argue with huge develoment costs, the software for QS+ and cruise control can be programmed by an intern in about a week. I know what I'm talking about. What's next, subscription based ABS? Sounds more like cringe corporate greed. I have been a fan of KTM for many years, I even own two of them. But I surely won't consider buying another one.
Sounds more like keeping down manufacturing costs and passing down those savings to the customers via a lower base price, which would've been higher with everything included as standard, which would've been unwelcome for customers who don't want the additional features. Demo mode lets the customers experience the additional features and decide which (if any) they want to keep. It's a win/win situation. If you'd rather have them all standard, then just pay for the whole package and the bike initially, and there won't be any difference. Pretend the base price is higher, and everything is included. Stop whining about being given options in addition to a lower base price or wanting everything for free at a lower base price. Otherwise everyone would be whining that the features aren't there at all or the base price is too high compared to the competition. And if there were separate versions with and without the hardware for additional features, they both would be more expensive due to higher manufacturing costs, and supply/demand would be more complicated since then you also need a good market analysis of how many of each version to make. And then people would whine that a certain dealer is out of the ones with additional hardware and they want ones with everything or vice versa. Retrofitting the hardware would be incredibly expensive in comparison and you'd end up with a lot of extra labor and parts shipped all over the place. Basically the alternative is not a good deal for anyone. It's not just about the r&d cost which cannot be done by an intern a week anyway thanks to various calibrations of various levels of settings, engineering changes in the development process, and the feedback from test riders etc. Don't forget the cost of hardware itself which you basically get for free until you pay for the software unlock.
I like the KTMs, I own the 790 ADV 2020 and the 1290 SAS 2022, but what makes me angry is that we are already the fourth time that the 790 has been repaired for the loss of coolant, but the leaks continue. Holy God do you want to solve it or should I take that fucking scrap to the factory? I'm reaaly tired...
I get that KTM has a platform (790/890) and it is a marketing oportunity to ressurect this kind of bike. But to my honest opinion it is aestethically bad designed. How will it reflect to sales...we'll have to wait and see. But from my buyer's standing ground it is not even close to the legendary 990sm/smt. The true hooligan bike. Now you can delete my comment since the truth has been told 😅
So KTM is saying is that you should buy this bike and then go out and treat the road as a race track and be cutting corners. It's encouraging riders to be reckless and a danger to them selves and others in which the way to ride this bike. If you wanted to say it can do all this and more than you should of filmed it on a race track and not guy talking and showing how to ride reckless on the road. The way you showed hi rude should of been on the track, not road. 🙄
😂 it's called marketing And what if the race track Of choice was Monaco or the Isle of man TT When the road is closed, it can be officially a race track
ITS GREAT THAT YOU BRING BACK TO LIFE SUCH A LEGENDARY MOTORCYCLE🔥

Just bought it. Amazing smt
I love it!!!!❤ Greetings from the Netherlands dukerider

Cam failure is an issue with these models.
I spot Geoff May on that EBR ahead of that KTM haha, my two favorite brands
Chris is jut such an adorable chap...
I apreciate all his results
Sure wish the SMT was available in the US....
There are lots of mtn curves in the Shenandoah valley in Virginia.
Keep me posted on availability, think that beast was created for me😂
Coming to U.S. in 2024. Deposits being taken now at KTM dealers!
Checks all my req'd boxes. Deposit put down!!! Can't wait!!!
Is there preload on the rear shock? LCR said no, not sure if there are differences in different countries.
We just need 1290 SMT or Super adventure 1290 s pikes peak version with 17 inch front wheel
We already have the Super Duke GT, what else do you need?
Will there be an "R" version?
please bring the 890 series to India , especially this one !
Great explanation Chis!
Great job on getting the information out there! If you’re looking for a cinematic experience videographer- let me know. I know a guy 😉
When launch in India
Compression dampening on the shock would have been nice.
I would love to try this bike. Will there be demo bikes at the US dealers?
When will this bike be available w/ the street demo tour??
GOOD JOB
Amazing
Lets hope Husky produce the T part of this and give it a 20 litre tank and a decent screen
Why no smr
bring it to the usa ill buy one
Wonderful!
Some won't agree but i wish there was a 390 version for a more affordable option
How much is this bike? Does anyone know
Prochain retour , la 990 superduke ? Et j’espère bientôt la nouvelle 1290 superduke r
Temecula?
Nice
Moto muito fix. Mas na minha opinião faltam hp e binário 😉

I still dont get how they are calling this a touring bike. The 890 adventure is a touring bike. This is an 890r and 690 smc r had a baby.

@@wowIloveusernamesAll right, lemme get this straight: This SMT is a better sport tourer.
Besides, you should have a doctor check your eyes again. This surely does have windscreen but not a tall windscreen just like the BMW F700/750GS. You can order a custom windscreen like here in Vietnam or from well-reputed brands like Puig, Givi, Touratech,...
Now just release it in the US
Much rather have a 1290 SMT but okay.
Bring it to the US of A or I quit KTM after my 690 SMC R. Or better bring me an R version, or just make it a 1290.
I always knew KTM officials were a bit crazy, otherwise they wouldn't build those kind of bikes.
But Demo-Mode?

Is it a CFmoto engine? I think it looks ugly and I have a 790 adv R!
We need rc890
So it is heavier, less powerfull than the Duke 890R while being more expensive and uglier as well.
🤔🤔🤔
This film would be so much better without that shit music.
Thank you for bringing the SMT back!
Resurrect the rc8!!!!!!!!
The bike in great, the price isn't.
390 smt maybe ?...
