How Do I Embroider on Knits?

One of the most challenging fabrics to embroider on is knit. The stretch that makes this fabric so comfortable to wear also makes embroidery a challenge.

You don’t use a ball point needle on knits??? Also, what can you use on the back side so the embroidery won’t scratch/irritate the skin?
