    Lovely video on the Martlet! One of my favorite notes on the plane was that FAA and USN pilots preferred the 4x.50 armament to the 6x.50 armament due to the lower aircraft weight and additional ammunition available for the former.

      For those of you who may not know, initially in the British Fleet Air Arm service the plane was called the 'Martlet'.

    Another suggestion for videos; how about having players send you their battle recordings of noteworthy battles that you can then review and provide pointers and tips on those battles? That would likely be very popular. I see no one else doing this so you would again be providing even more unique and valuable content. :)

      I think that wouldn't only help others, but also me! Unfortunately, even though I think this is a great idea, I don't think I have the time currently to review the replays of others. That's one for the future. Thank you for the suggestion!

    Here is a video suggestion for you; how about videos on the current, "Coming Storm", missions and prizes starting for the Boeing P26 Peashooter, the P-47's, up to the Republic F-84F Thunderstreak? The, "Coming Storm", missions and prizes continue until November 22. I suspect many players would appreciate videos about the mission and planes for them. :) With eight .50 cal. machine guns, I am finding the P-47's to be great boom and zoom planes.

    "One thing I learned is this: Never allow yourself to hate people because of the actions of a few. Hatred and bigotry destroyed my nation and millions died. I would hope that most people did not hate Germans because of the Nazis, or Americans because of slaves. Never hate, it only eats you alive. Keep an open mind and always look for the good in people. You may be surprised at what you find". -- Erich Hartmann of the W.W.II German Luftwaffe who racked up a world record 352 planes shot down. He was not only a great pilot, but more importantly a great man. A man of principle, honor and integrity. He made the comment above after having been imprisoned by the Russians for *ten years* after W.W.II was over. They imprisoned him to try and force him to be a spy for them against the West. Erich refused to cooperate with them and he stood by his principles. After ten years they finally gave up and released him to go back home to his waiting wife, who was clearly a great lady in her own right to stand by her husband for ten long years. While Erich was in prison, his daughter whom he had never met, passed away. He went through all that evil and cruelty, yet he was not bitter, he did not seek vengeance, he just spoke out against hatred. What a great man indeed! The world could learn a lot from Erich Hartmann.

    Interestingly, the recent buff to American .50 calibre machine guns brings the F4F to a rating of 15 for armament. This now means the plane is a well rounded average of 2nd in class across all metrics.

  • @markbrandon5236
    @markbrandon5236 2 года назад +1

    I wonder for every crazy good battles you get in this plane how many dozens of bad/losing battles you have to suffer through. The 2nd flight was a rarity indeed. I guess if your opposition is very bad (Ju 87g pilot was awful) you can make any plane look great.
    Yes, I've had battles where the center was too well defended by a good player (in my case it was a Zero) such that after 2 tries we (I was flighted up) gave up. I went to one garrison, my partner went to the other, we captured and defended them for the duration to win the battle.

    I still have this plane....miserable experience for me, though I did pull a HoS and a couple other medals in it on a map very similar to this one (or maybe it was this one). Basically wound up defending the airbase most of the game. Flown well, it is a capable aircraft, though not one I'd consider a carry plane. Most people have a hard time with this one, because its such a jack of trades (and master of none). I'll go back to it some day to try and get the w/r up (currently 43.14% w/ 51 battles).

      The F4F Wildcat has beautiful machine guns with an incredibly high rate of fire and it takes a lot to get them to overheat. With only 51 battles, don't be hard on yourself, or the plane. :) There is much to learn and watching The Noble Q's videos will help you. You'll get there. Patience. :)

    • @TheNobleQ
      @TheNobleQ  2 года назад +2

      I hope my video is of some help. I think this is a challenging plane, particularly for newer players, since to get the most out of it you need to be tactically on point throughout a battle and even then, if the enemy is capable, you will be prevented at least some of the time from doing what this plane does best. The first, "typical", battle is very much the norm for what I can do in it and if you're not there yet, that's what you should aim at achieving. The second battle is about the ability to recognise exceptional circumstances and to exploit them, in this case producing an exceptional result. When those battles come along you smile and thank the gods. :)

      The XP-54 isn't as prevalent as it once was, but other powerful planes are causing a similar problem, such as the P-61.

    If I was an opposition pilot flying in my Bf 109e or Spitfire V you wouldn't have lasted long in the center (and obviously wouldn't use that battle to showcase the F4F). Just goes to show that any plane can look great if there is no competition to worry about.
