Tony Hawk may just be the most humble person alive, the guy has like 20+ games with his name and he is not the protagonist in any of them, also his tweets about how no one knows how he looks in real life are hilarious
Growing up with the PS1 is the reason why i saw how actually amazing Rodney Mullen's skills were and still are. Can't wait for your next reviews on the series, specially about the PS1 versions. Cheers from Brazil, mate.🍻
I spent half my childhood with THPS 2 and 3. And recently when I got the 1+2 remaster I felt like a kid again, what an amazing experience. Definitely recommend the game to everyone.
The music is definitely memorable in the early Tony Hawk games. I couldn’t remember the names of 2 of the songs from THPS2, but the sound was very memorable to 8 year old me. Years later I was able to find out that it was guerrilla radio and the other a powerman 5000 song, worlds collide.
Rage Against the Machine - Guerrilla Radio, Powerman 5000 - When Worlds Collide, Goldfinger - Superman, Millencolin - No Cigar, Swinging Utters - Five Lessons Learned, Hotel - Trivago... Still pretty Badass to this Day! And the Remaster 1+2 added pretty good tracks to the old mix: Zebrahead - All my Friends are Nobody's, DZ Deathrays - IN-TO-IT, Junkbunny - Sedona, Token - Flamingo! And a couple more...!
You managed to 100% complete THPS4 on PS1? That is beyond impressive mate, hats off to you, easily the hardest/most frustrating in the series. Can't wait to see the rest of the series as they come out.
It's fascinating that the developers actually hired skaters to help them capture the tricks and the way a real life skater would fall or do a certain type of trick if timed perfectly i honestly love the tony hawk games
man, nostalgia is powerful- thank you for these. the 2000s had such an aspect of approachable street sports culture that kinda went away later on. I'm almost 30- and I remember extreme sports, street racing, cheap car culture, underground hip hop all being accessible and well-liked throughout the culture. games like this and need for speed underground/midnight club introduced me to a lot of music that i still love- as well as car culture and skate culture (although i can't skate for shit)
Hey colourshed. I guess I’ve been a long time subscriber but never thought of saying thank you for your work. Your videos are great! Thank you man. Cheers!
I get what you mean about tearing up because of memories of the past, happens to me a lot, one of my favorite games and I never skateboarded in real life.
This one really took me back. It's so wild how it still looks decent even today. The animations were pretty fluid for a playstation game. The 1 and 2 remake is surprisingly fantastic too. It was so cool to see a piece of my childhood brought back to life. Thank you for this one. It reminded me where i came from.
Oh hell yes, please tell me you’re planning on doing the whole series! This is the best upload of the week, I’m putting it on right now! I have work in the morning, but you have saved my night, Spenny.
This Game introduced me to Tony Hawk never heard of him till I got this Game back in the Day man Still One of my Favorite Skateboarding Games. Hope you get the Second One sometime down the line!
I love almost all the TH games! After playing the remasters, I had to grab a playstation and get the original games again. I love the old 2000s low res polygon charm, and it hit me hard with the lack of tricks on the very first game. The remaster is also really good and worth getting if you enjoy playing. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm trying to score 30,000 on the Mall level lol.
I bought the remaster late last year. I loved the hell out of it. It took me 3 to 4 hours to beat. I'd love to see a remaster of the rest of the series.
This game will forever have a special place in my heart. As a 12 year old black kid from South London, this game introduced me into rock music and skateboarding, two elements that changed my life forever. Thanks THPS
What an amazing look back, thank you. I'm definitely excited for the inevitable Underground review, you have no idea how much. Also Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX review maybe? :O
Thank you based algorithm for bringing me this video at 4 am while trying to sleep, now I will fall asleep with a smile on my face thanks to the nostalgia and good memories Great video dude, earned a subscribe from me!
Oh, man, this video. I love THPS since I was a kid, but I think this was the first RUclips analysis that almost broke me and made me want to cry. This feels as special to ColourShed as it does to me. It's heavy. Also, man, it's an unspoken rule of the true Tony Hawk player that a competition is only truly beat with only two runs and a gold medal.
Sir, I grew up with this series. I was 16 in 1999, I remember quite well when this game dropped. The first time i played it was in a marajuana smoke filled living room with my neighbor and his friend. We smoked and gamed for hours and it was my first time doing both at the same time, it was the beginning of my love of gaming whilst smoking. Now, when I game I don't smoke anymore because my almost 2 year old son likes to watch me game. And while I liked to smoke while killing clickers and raiders in the last of us or sniping dudes in Sniper Elite 3, I like having my own little audience even more. I feel saddness at the passing of those rowdy days of old sometimes (especially in the small hours of the night and early morning)but I am also glad at what surviving those days brought me.
I had the good fortune to visit neversoft for work back in the mid 2000's, they still had a big skate ramp in there and everyone was very cool. I'd honestly try reaching out to the devs for interview if you do a THPS2 video. I wouldn't be surprised if some would be happy to talk
Great game, great video. Reminds me of middle school. And I'm still bumping The Ernies' album, Meson Ray, to this day. haha Thanks for the stroll down memory lane. I never played any past THPS 4 so I'm definitely looking forward to your next videos on the series.
You can't go wrong with THPS. It's such a memorable game almost anyone that is 25-35 years old nowadays not only knows the game but most likely influenced him in a lot of ways. This review is for me a very nostalgic and valuable one. please go with THPS2 on PS1, My favorite of the series.
Here in Germany, this Game was also EPIC at the Time. I was not so good at it, but playing a Course had some Freedom in it, like an Open World Game. I would say it was one of the games that made the PS1 so special.
Love the games to death. I never really got into skateboarding myself due to various reasons, but I always loved the culture and watching skatevideos and such since I first played the game. I still know all the tricks and combos, most gaps and could pull a 3 million combo on the new jersey level any time, but those 500 billion point combos? Feels kind of tryhardy to me, but eh.
All the Tony Hawk games and the other Tony hawk-esque games like it are awesome, like SSX, grind session, and many others, I enjoy these type of games quite a lot!
We had a top skater in our pizza/arcade place. I think that's the first time I ever knew about skating. difficult but so much fun. Started to skate a year or so before tony hawk 1 came out.
I had the first two titles for Dreamcast, but haven't played them since about 2003. Speaking of superficial, I admit I probably should've put more time into both games and demonstrated more patience & commitment, but I did have fun when I picked up and played them.
I loved the TH series growing up. I think THPS 4 would have to be the game I spent the most time on. Hoping you get to 2,3,4, Underground 1/2, and American Wasteland
THPS games - the best type of "social gaming" for when you get a few friends together in a split screen, have some weed and just relax, while trying to catch your breath, because your constant laughter is dragging you closer and closer to death. Fun times.
I never finished Tony Hawk's Underground as a child, but I had a blast playing it. It would be awesome if they remaster the Underground games because like many others I don't have an older TV to hook up my playstation 2.
Quick question: given that you're now playing PS2 games on an emulator for the sake of better image quality, will you be doing the same for PS1 games? Especially now that there are emulators that get rid of the texture warping the PS1 is notorious for
I remember playing Tony Hawk's Underground 2 on the PC, that was my introduction to the series It was a ripped bootleg version without the soundtrack or the sound of the cutscenes, but I still enjoyed it somehow I wish there was a way to get the regular version with the music and play it as it was... Intended to be played ... By the way, remember that Australian movie "Deck Dogz" from 2005? It was locally titled as "Meeting Tony Hawk" in my country and it still airs on TV from time to time I think it's on RUclips in 8 parts and in glorious 360p quality
I always played Demo's of Tony Hawk games back then. Did not had very much money back then. Had alot if fun. My very 1st and last Tony Hawk game was Under Ground 2 Remix for the PSP. Great game. Lots of stuff to do in the game. Got stuck on a level, could not get passed the level. Years later of not playing the game, I could not do anything in the game because I forgot all of the moves I learned. I completely gave up after that.
Hey, ColourShed! If you're going to continue with the late 1990's to early 2000's gaming scene, I highly recommend trying out the SSX franchise. They both revolve around an existing sport and are a bit absurd in their environments respectively. I think people wouldn't mind a review on it.

I have a feeling your Tony Hawk videos will be as popular as your GTA videos.

Yoooooo, I'm currently playing Persona 1 right now.

I'm hoping you do the bad ones too. This is one of my favorite channels, and this is one of my favorite series. Keep on doing what you're doing.
