This review says Carnival Freedom 2024 but it looks like the video came out a year ago. Carnival Freedom has been to dry dock and has had quite a few upgrades. Maybe you should change your title of the video to reflect the right date. I have seen reviews of the Freedom and it doesn't mention anything that you have mentioned. I will make my own decision in 3 weeks when I sail on the Freedom March 2024.
Can you please share your review with me once you get off your cruise in March?
@@ShamikahJones We had a great time on the ship. Food was very good and it didn't look worn. It is a little small for my liking but it was a lot of fun. Beds were very comfortable. The only thing Carnival needs to work on is the disembarkation process. That was a shit show.
Great review. We’re sailing on the freedom November 2024. Hopefully some of the cons will be taken care of but we’re super mellow about things. This will be our third cruise with carnival and we always have fun.
Yeah carnival is a great cruise line, overall we enjoyed our time in the freedom you will definitely have fun!
I’m trying to book a cruise in 2024, and the Freedom is the only one that fits what we want. I heard its is supposed to be dry docked in 2023, so hopefully they fix these issues before we sail out.
We still had a good time on the Freedom, any cruise is better than being at home !
@@BoatBreakersNJ true but we have first time cruisers who I know will be anal especially about the sewage smell, so we don’t want to scare them off since we all decided to start doing yearly cruises. Went on the paradise earlier this year and we didn’t have a smell problem.
@@supermex7275 Hopefully it was just a loose bolt and they got the problem fixed! Let us know how your cruise went, very curious to know about your experience.
My daughter and I are looking at 2024 on Carnival Freedom. I think all cruise lines can have issues. Just got back in Sept and was on Grand Princess, had toilet issues, food was meh, just an old ship. Still had fun though and that’s what’s important.
Yes, the bed and especially the linens! Good, Lord I wanted to take tthe bed and the linnen home with me!
That’s what I’m saying Vanessa! I also found out you can buy their linens and comforters online now.
I just got off a 4 day on the Freedom. I am sorry to say but the staff is by and large rude. I assume it is because they are overworked but nonetheless, I did not expect to wait in such long lines only to be begrudgingly served and assisted. The boat and facilities are what you would expect for that price, but the long lines caused because the boat is so full and there is not enough crew, make it tough to take.
Was there a smell?
We went on the Freedom at the end of January 2024. It was our first cruise so no frame of reference. There was still a slight sewage smell but it seemed to only be in the cabin hallways. That same broken window is still there, yes some of the lines were really disappointing. We still had fun and would do it again, really wanting to try a newer ship next time.
That’s crazy that they still haven’t fixed that window! This is definitely a cheaper ship to sail on, if you’re looking for something nicer the vista class or XL class are incredible!
I was on the sunshine in March and it was so great so i hope the freedom is a great experience as well

Probably going to have to say the Mardi Gras because of all the food options and areas that you can entertain yourself.

@@BoatBreakersNJ I had a wonderful time. They must have taken care of the smells because I smelled nothing the entire time. I only wish the ship had the iconic Carnival Tail!

I went on Mardi Gras Sept 2021 , just a few months after restart after covid . I was disappointed. I had more fun in 2019 on the Fantasy. Bigger isn’t always better. We are booked on the Freedom in May 2023, it’s got to be better than Mardi Gras, LOL. The layout of MG was way to cramped, I like the older layout of the ships.
Totally agree Michelle, the XL class ships have so many things on board but it doesn’t feel like they have each venue enough room so they feel tight and small. Older ships are a favorite of mine too, enjoy the Freedom!🛳🛳
I am going on the freedom in November for five day Caribbean cruise so hopefully things have changed
We still had a good time, the ship just showed it’s age but hopefully everything will be great for you!
I’m going on the freedom from Barcelona in October. It’s supposed to go into dry dock for repairs and a new tail.

Good information mate! We sailed on the Carnival Liberty twice. April cruise this year there was no smell of sewage anywhere we walked on the ship. This last September cruise there was a smell of sewage which was confined to an area around the hallway near the customer service desk and their public restrooms nearby. Nowhere else did I smell it on the ship. There must be an explanation of what happening. My thought was passengers are dumping trash in the toilets causing them to vent the pressure of blocked sewage pipes. The weekend crowd tends to be more non-cruisers and boorish behavior is more likely if the cruise ticket price is rock bottom. I have found if you take a cruise (non-weekend) the very last week of April/first week of May or the 1st or 2nd week of December the cruise ship isn't as crowded at all. Most kids are in school including colleges. I am so looking forward to sailing on the Carnival Freedom! Thanks for doing this video!
We sailed on the liberty in July and it wasn’t terrible with the smell totally agree just a few places . But yes we sailed with some party crowd on the freedom but no where near what I’m used to seeing during summer or winter break with carnival. The ship has a ton of venues to keep you entertained, you’ll have a great time!
@@BoatBreakersNJ I’m certainly excited! I might have to have one of the bartenders at the Casino bar make me a Cuban Daiquiri and drink it in the Habana Bar to give that ship venue some Cuban street cred! 😂
@@TheRiverPirate13 wow I’ve never had a Cuban daiquiri on carnival, I’ll put that on the list for next time.
@@BoatBreakersNJ It is the cocktail author Ernest Hemingway drank all the time when he lived in Cuba for a time.
@@TheRiverPirate13 I’ve had daiquiris before, just not on carnival ! I’ve actually sailed on a cruise to Cuba in 2019, Havana was incredible.

You know your right about the lip sync battle I forgot all about that,that was fun and I heard about the hairy chest contest that they didn't want to do that no more cuz they wanted to be more kid friendly.....🤔 I really enjoyed that one😉
Yeaaaa! Stinks they got rid of some of them! Our friend won the lip sync last time we were on a ship pre-covid! Those were a lot of fun!!

You’re should stop cruising. The Carnival Freedom is a Wonderful ship. I wonder how you would had felt when the shower and the toilet was in the same place, and they actually had bunk beds. That’s was on the original Mardi Gras back in the days. Today people don’t go on cruises to relax anymore and to get away from the rat races. After the Pandemic is a lot of things change on all cruise lines.
Thanks for the feedback, again this is what we think and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Spend your money on the ships you want to go on, for us the Freedom fell short of what carnival usually does well.

The Freedom is over crowded, the food is awful. The beds when separate are NOT twin size. They are so small that you risk falling off the bed. The ship is dirty, the passengers are low class. Girl in a thong sitting basically bare assed on a chair with nothing between her and the fabric. On day one some guy reached in barehanded and grabbed cookies off the tray. Their was standing room only in all venues at all times. Very uncomfortable. The steak house was the only decent meal we had. Steak like shoe leather, a chicken breast smaller than the tines of a fork and dried out mystery meat on the buffet. It was an awful experience. Never again. The comedian we saw was not funny. Used the n word constantly and kept losing track of the joke.
Everyone has a preference on what they enjoy, thanks for sharing your thoughts !
you are there to enjoy the getaway not to judge the boat, you should have stayed home or spent more money on a luxury ship.
So many people complaining but you took the time to book the cruise.....
Some of these reviews are a waste or air time...
