  • Clips from my impromptu storm chase immediately after work on 5/9/2016. Sorry for the quality and shaky video. I was equipped with only my cell phone for this encounter.

Once that wall cloud Starts having that curtain type texture. Tornado is imminent. You can set your watch to it. .

Very nice catch!. I was at work on the northeast side of town when this happened. They canceled the watch and about a half our later, this happened.

I had a gut feeling about this storm so I scrambled out too and got it from the opposite side.

Thanks! For this one I just used my cell phone. I have an okay camera but if I had gone home to get it I would have missed this one.

Has Lincoln ever had a tornado touch down?

Yes it did in this video I think ❣️🌟

Yes Lincoln has had tornadoes touch down within city limits before. The Omaha tornado of 1975 was really bad that killed 100 people. As for Lincoln I think only 5 people have been killed by a tornado since 1950.

@@johnventurino1915 +John: The Omaha '75 Tornado didn't kill anywhere NEAR 100 people. I think it was 5 or 6 maybe. Now, perhaps you meant injuries. OR....the Easter 1913 Omaha Tornado killed over 100 people. On that same day many southeast Nebr. towns got badly hit...one of them being Seward, Nebr. I think Plattsmouth got hit hard too. There were up to 8 separate tornadoes during that outbreak....it was horrible.

+Kandi...yes, Lincoln has taken tornado hits. But nothing (yet) as bad as other Nebraska cities. I'm a Lincoln native (living in Arizona) and a hard-core storm chaser for over 35 years. The "Hallam Tornado" as it's known, a little town just south of Lincoln....had at one time the USA's WIDEST TORNADO in history on May 22nd, 2004....about 2.5 miles wide. Some witnesses to it swear that it was up to THREE MILES WIDE...judging by the mile markers near farms out there. In 2013, the new all-time widest tornado (supposedly) was at El Reno, Oklahoma in 2013. I chased that storm. They claim it was 2.6 miles wide.
