42:00 I agree with that comment that once you figure out God's wrong, you start questioning everything else. I can from a fundamentalist literalist evangelical Christian background, and since de-converting, I have been taking issue by issue and asking why I believe what I've always believed.
Monogamy is the most recent issue I've re-evaluated, starting with exploring the origins and causes of jealousy and how it relates to monogamy (cause? effect? correlation?). I'm currently at the position that I think forcing it on all of society is misguided and incredibly harmful, resulting in failed relationships because most people think it's an "either-or," so they go with the new relationship energy which is like a drug and leave their partner for someone else, as just one example out of many.
Thinking jealously is the other person's fault for being so "disgusting" and "a horrible person" for being with or wanting to be with someone else intimately, and thus not drilling down to the root of the jealously and working through it. And domestic violence and homicide is a common result.
So yeah, I totally agree. Without a strict fundamentalist background, I might not have started questioning absolutely everything I've ever believed.

Is this meant to be a form of torture?
I think this relationship style is for people with intense interpersonal PTSD. The logically resulting misanthropy and fear of being alive is balanced with polyamory, an everyday obsession and mental project that has less negative side effects than religion, substance abuse etc. It lets many people decide to not euthanize ourselves and collaborate with people so we can have a better quality of life
How do you find it to be torturous?
This is the antithesis of a romance. Different strokes for different folks maybe!

Maybe you should address why you feel uncomfortable about the acknowledgment of a minority group which has historically faced centuries of genocide and racist violence?
