Melanoma is so pernicious that she passed just a few weeks yet in this video she seems so lucid and together. I really feel for her husband and children. Such a nice woman and such a sad outcome.
I don't know if am being over thinking but I blame and I think the NIH failed her😢and the fact that she was off her treatment for over 40 days😢I blame the NIH

I so agree. Lost my mother from leukemia when she was 62. She fought to live for three hard years. Sarah is so young and truly brave. I think my mom and Sarah have met one another now. No more pain. In peace forever more beautiful young lady. I'll be kind and make good choices and remember Sarah every day.

Dearest Sweet Sarah, I am at a loss for words, for a few reasons. Most importantly, for fear that I am going to say something that takes away from what you are feeling. There is so much - too much - that you are trying to process right now. So, in this moment, I want you to know that I have listened to everything you shared. I have heard you. I see the deep sadness, fear and uncertainty in your eyes, and hear it in your voice/words. I also heard that you are not giving up. I hear you. I see you. I'm so sorry Sarah. I also see that word innumerable on my scan reports, but mine has to do with w incurable kidney disease and there's so many cysts all over the kidneys they can't count them all. You're not alone, even if we're not there in person, We're with you in thought. ❤

Hello. I am a stage 4 throat cancer survivor. It has been 13 years since my diagnosis, and I am still here. I will be honest with you; things are going to get bad. Just keep things simple and understand you have a new job. Your job is to fight this; nothing else. Also, stay in touch with your personal support group. This is your family and friends. Their support is invaluable. Finally, keep one thought in mind every morning when you wake up; "today I will be better". Try to think this thought even when at the end of the day you don't feel better. The positivity will make your body fight harder. Stay strong!

Sara, as I recall you were told by NIH that they could not proceed with the clinical trial because they did not have enough information about the neurological episode that occurred just before your trip. Have you received any clarification from your doctors here on what was going on with you neurologically at that time? Would NIH reconsider you for the clinical trial if they had that additional information? Your PET scan reveals progression, but as many have said here, that is likely due to the hiatus in your treatment. And that kind of progression is what NIH appeared to be looking for initially to qualify you for the study. So if they are provided (and satisfied) with a more detailed and conclusive explanation of what was going on in your brain before your trip, they might still accept you into the trial.
I really hope they can accept her into the trial. I would hate for her to miss out after she stopped her treatment to allow for the cancer to progress for the trial. Severe emotional stress can cause seizures. She might not even have any neurological issues at all. But then again, I don’t know all the details.
Praying for you and your family. Cut yourself some slack. Give yourself as much time as you need to process everything. Don't feel like you have to have all the answers today. The trip, your health, your family concerns are all stresses on your body. More than enough to make you feel out if it. Make sure to take one step at a time and enjoy moments with your family. This is the same pep talk I give myself. My treatment is not working and can relate to the worry of what is next. Sometimes I wish I did not understand test results. Will continue to pray for your family

try to stay strong Sarah, nothing is set in stone. only last week my sister was on end of life care but this week she has had a turnaround and now might be going home soon so miracles can happen. keep fighting for what you want. god bless you and i will keep my fingers crossed for you xx
You were told to go off treatment in order to qualify for the study. As a result, you experienced shingles and a possible seizure which were both more than likely related to your lack of treatment. They should have known that something was going to happen if you weren’t receiving treatment. Now, they can’t continue with the study and your condition has worsened! Wow! Unbelievable! They should have started the study immediately considering that these things happened due to them advising you to stop treatment.
It was our decision to stop treatment to join the study, not theirs. If you need to blame anything blame the cancer. Don’t blame the humans who are trying their best. -josh
I'm so sorry you came home from your trip to this news. I hope you can get a full explanation of these scans from your doctor.

Sarah, first of all, it would be unheard of for anyone to not be tired and somewhat preoccupied or out of it after all the events of the past week. Remind yourself to give yourself a break here- you are doing everything you can to recover. Second, I have to believe your doctors and their colleagues are exploring every potential treatment available to you and will have a plan forward. Third, I am sending my angels to watch over and guide you and your family. You keep on seeking and exploring options and doing all you can to build up your reserves and find wellness.

When I watched this, as has happened a few times before, I just want to get in my car and come and hold you tight. Your authentic journey just continues to reach me in a profound way. You certainly are dealing with so much. I light an extra candle each Sunday for you, your family, and your care team but more then that, you are never out of my prayers. So much love in your family so now just bask in it and get assertive with your care team.

Are you still off your regular treatment in the hopes of participating in the NIH trial? And you must also wait another 5 weeks to get an MRI of your brain to clarify what happened a few weeks ago? So that would mean no treatment for months while you wait? It is extremely frustrating, as just a person in the world who is rooting for you, for what appears to be a lack of urgency on the part of certain doctors. It seems like you should either resume the regular treatment options asap, or get the neuro stuff settled asap so you know where you stand with NIH. Being forced to wait around, with no treatment, for an extended time period just isn't acceptable especially given these new PET scan results. This sounds similar to when you went to your family doctor, while pregnant, with the concerning lump in your neck and they were like "oh...no biggie....probably just a swollen lymph node, knowing that you had been in remission for melanoma! You were too kind. That was an unacceptably dumb response to your concern! And you had to ignore that advice and go over their head. Seems like you are in a similar place now. I feel like I'm ranting, but I guess I would encourage you to push someone harder to figure out the fastest route possible to resume various treatment options. Waiting another 5 weeks for that MRI before you can proceed with anything seems unfair.

I pray that once you meet with your medical team that they will have another course of treatment they will try especially if the trial does not work out for you. Remain steadfast in your cancer journey because you never know - the next treatment may give you better results.
We know the good Lord has performed miracles and is the almighty healer. I pray that He will give you the strength needed to fight this terrible battle with cancer.

I'm so sorry the results of the PET Scan was so difficult. I don't know why all this is happening and I wish I could take it all away. But I do know, the Lord had you and your family cupped in the palm of His loving and merciful hand. He sees everything, He knows your sadness and your fears. Although it may seem impossible to believe, somehow He will work this out. You have so many rayer warriors on your side. Please rest and let Him hold you and give you comfort and peace. Well, that news sucks rocks!!! If all THAT info didn't make you eligible for trial therapies, what would?! You had mentioned in a different vlog saying that it should be your choice if you do a trial or not...and I agree. You are the strongest woman I know right now, I admire you and even though you are in pain and grieving ... you are thinking of what to do and thinking of your family and what you feel you need to do. Sending prayers and hugs that things go well for you.
