- We take a group of vintage flat fender jeeps from the 1940s and 50s on the 8 out of 10 rated trail Risky Biz on Sand Mountain near Hurricane, Utah. Tis includes a really scary rollover of one of the Willys Jeeps.
Thanks to Jeff Petrowich, Peter (call me Cowboy) Vollers, Ernie Ongaro, Alan Koller and Jesse Coombs for providing videos for this compilation.
Wow, that was one intense ride! The rollover had me on the edge of my seat. Thanks to all the drivers for sharing their videos, it really made me feel like I was there. Can't wait to see more adventures like this!
Thank you sir.
Glad your friend was OK. Great video, been on that trail it's not easy !
Thank you.
Your commentary is great on these videos.
@@nrspence8258 Thanks Nate. I try to be informative, but let the jeeps and trails be the main show. It takes a bit of time to do the voiceover narration so it’s good to know that at least some people think it’s worth it. Thanks for watching.
Woo wee great footage of Ernie’s rollover. Blessed to make it through uninjured.
@@nrspence8258Yes, very blessed.
While I'm very glad Ernie is okay, that scene could have gone very bad, and is enough for me to always want a full cage if I'm ever doing any steep technical climbing stuff like this in a flatfender or any Jeep. Now, I don't have a cage in my XJ as I just drive light trails in the woods, with small rocky sections and some mud or going camping, but I know XJ's have no structure of rollover protection as I've seen the roofs of them pancake on a rollover. I know the half cage is the traditional and period correct look for the flatfender, and it does offer some moderate protection, but knowing there's modern safety equipment available to anyone, that could be implemented in these older rigs and done in a way that doesn't make them look too modern, that could prevent a very bad day happening as a result of keeping with the old style just for the looks, or "tradition". To me, going out on the trail knowing there's a risk of rollover, and knowing I could've prepped the vehicle with safety improvements, but not taking those preventative measures for my personal safety just to keep with a traditional look, well, I think that would be a pretty poor way to go...
Ernie is working on just that right now ! Keeping it contoured like the factory canvas top hoops, with a forward section for real protection. "BamBam" and "Brutus" are great examples of sturdy cages that are integrated into the design of the Jeep.
Another fantastic video. Far better than the big production company videos.
Thank you. The production company is my friends letting me have all the videos they shoot and a cheap editing program on my PC. Thanks for watching.
Awesome as always, love watching all your jeeps going through the rocks with out having 4o + inch tires. It makes it a lot more challenging. Glad he was OK, be safe and hope to see you next year in 2026 at EJS.
@@billsummerhill5550 Thank you.
Love your videos. Seeing the old Jeeps do what they do best. I am amazed at the skill of everyone there. Those trails do not look easy.
Thanks 👍
Glad yous are all good, and can get the rig back out there, 😮can't wait for the next one, thanks for sharing, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Thanks Don.
Stan your flop was awesome 😂, as was the recovery !! Ernie visited the other day and gave me a preview of his back flip...Whew... Brought back memories of one I did in Moab decades ago, which convinced me to be intensely focused on not back flipping or endo - ing !! Flops to the side are not such a big deal. Aesome video !!
Thanks Timm.
Great video Stan! I am constantly amazed at the obstacles you and others in your group tackle. I am also so thankful that Ernie is OK and that Two Step will be back on the trail.
@@ErikCords thanks!
Awesome, a new video to feed my flat fender addition! Great video Stan, thanks for sharing. I’m definitely going to watch it again over the weekend in case I missed any bit the first time. The wide angle view shows the amazing countryside in the background and gives a perspective of how small your Jeeps are compared to the obstacles!!! We are having a heat wave in Australia at the moment with most days around 40 degrees Celsius so I haven’t been working on my CJ5 , but your videos keep me excited to keep working on it. ❤GPN
Great video Stan. Don’t regret adding a roll bar. Saved your buddies life. Those trails look tough. I’m good with just some classic dirt trails.
Ernie a eu beaucoup de chance ! ! Je suis rassuré pour lui que tout aille bien ! En tout cas , vous êtes dans une belle région, avec de magnifiques paysages ..et surtout avec le beau temps ! ! Belle vidéo..et avec les commentaires en plus ....J'adore !! ! !👍
Thank you!
Your little flop was pretty funny Stan.
Pretty dumb.
@@Grampas-jeeplooks like hard work, no wonder your Jeep wanted to have a layover nap.
Great trail! Glad everyone is ok.
Thank you.
I’m glad you are Ok 👍
Great video Stan Glad Erine is ok . I like that you will show inside the jeep and outside going up in the same spot . I think your freind should have drove around insteed of you guys stacking rocks and winching . Thanks Stan
@@plainnpretty Thank you.
That last flip was terrible to watch , I’m so glad no one was seriously hurt!
crazy, so glad he was not hurt, that could have ended so bad.
Thanks.
Another great video Stan.
Glad you enjoyed it
That passed an hour on real well!
After the backflip I was expecting Matts Offroad Recovery to be coming along :D
Glad he was OK!....and you too!
Did I hear john Waynes voice spotting?
Proper Jeeps!
Thanks for watching.
Ernie! 🙏
Whew!
I seen a video of flat fenders, a blue flat fender with no roll bar and two older dudes . I made a comment how dumb that is and was trashed about freedom, what does freedom have to do with common sense. I would refuse to let anyone wheel in my group without a roll bar, you can thank me later, in this case, the mans life was spared because he was smart. My FJ40 and Toyota truck both have full interior roll cages. So glad he is ok and eager to get on the trail again and damn, what a nice shop.
@@kenjohnson4423 Thanks for watching.

"When you do something stupid you have to prove that you weren't so stupid by trying more stupid stuff" needs to be on a shirt.
Hah! Thanks for checking in.
Its a damn shame no one is pairing the Philippines body kits with drive train for sale in the U.S., or even importing the complete repros from the Philippines.
Great video ,by the way, thanks for posting it.😊
They are.
