SS Sir, In our Indian Music, the training for Sruti are: 1. All attentive listening to Tambura. 2. Attentive listening to instruments-Veena and Violin (before the Violin, Venu). 3. All attentive listening of Shadja and Panchama two Svarams only. 4. Tuning the Tambura and other instrument of learning. 5. Playing the Tambura and other instrument of learning intently listening and Fine tuning. 6. Seek Guru's approval by demonstration of both Sruti and Apa Sruti.
The training enables near perfect sruti alignment of voice or instrument of learning over a period of Sadhana. This attainment establishes the Self-confidence. Tendency of partial closure of ear to limit the distractions of sounds exhibits lack of Self-confidence.

Vidushi Spoorthi Rao deserves special praise for her rendition of Pada "Enna Rakshiso" Subhapantuvarali raga tuned. Rest were often sung popular Padas.
I suggest to Vidushi to avoid tendency of closing the ear for checking sruti alignment. Also practice to perform closing the eyes while performing as it is a gayaka dosha. Blessings.
