Sadly, reboot in today's pool of creators and producers translates into retcon. JMS contemporary work has been immersed in that pool. The cancellation will help preserve the body of his work.
BSG wasn't to bad even if it was far removed from the original that I grew up with. but I did love the gritty war aspect of it. the fact that both sides were guilty of atrocities made it more real. however I did find that the writing let it down about midway through but good action and acting.
We might just have jumped the gun with this - considering the "quality" we get at the moment and the infusion of modern everything into series... I just wish we could get a overhaul of the visual effects and then a re-release. And I mean UE 5 quality .)
As much as i desire Babylon 5 return i absolutely HATE rebooting it. You should not use name of something in manner that invalidates all preceding accomplishments and B5 is in my personal view the best science fiction. if anything i'd continue, you know the type of continuation that uses precious characters in cameo roles on occasion, showcases the writer's skills. Hell i'd have it be during Vir' rule over Centauri, when some offspring of Lando fell deep into bottle, maybe the roles could be reversed - a politically savvy Cotto jr. and shame to his family name Mollari jr, would be perfect ambassadorial duo for some of the Interstellar Alliance's diplomatic effort? Show the love for amazing charatkers and stories of the past and build upon those solid foundations, i know that Legend of Rangers, movies and other spinoffs were not exactly something excstatic but at least it did not fall the way Trek did. And in attempt to avoid their fate embracing one's past is the key.
True but the options are dwindling and the point of a reboot is to be better than the original which means lots of money. That's not going to happen now .... logical conclusion no reboot. And sooner or later even JMS will wake up to that fact ,or he could ask Mr Elon Musk

@@GaryMacKenzie Eating humble pie isn't that hard my friend and I will do so LIVE if and when the time comes, you have my word. How ever I do know how the industry works it's like any business it's not about the show but about the money. The new CW CEO will look at how much they would need to spend to make it work, then how many people are going to watch it and from that conclude what the profits will be ...and with a fan base only in the thousands I can confidently say that a complete reboot will not happen on the CW channel we might get a low budget pilot to test the waters if we're lucky. but yes I could be wrong I don't mind if I am. like you say it is still possible.
I certainly hope that the reboot is dead. Every TV reboot has failed to be a complement of the original or its oun show. Let's stop all these reboots and do something new!

Instead of complimenting the original series which showed love between everybody on the show even when they had fights and arguments they decided to make it all out hate soap opera. Apollo said things to Adama that would have gotten him thrown in the brig for the entire journey. Instead of putting the series in today they projected it into the future I made all the robots man-made monsters. The original cylons were cybernetic organisms that were half lizard. That's why they are called cylons and not cyborgs. When they said they were going to redo Battlestar Galactica I was hoping they would stick to the novels. Show us things they couldn't show us on TV back in the seventies. Instead we got Terminator ripoffs, 24-hour clocks, 1940 radios to listen to the news, milk crates for milk crates, and every 20th century item you can think of and every 20th century soap opera storyline they could think of. The only storyline that was halfway decent, which they ruined later, was Boltar's storyline. Which also sucked because he wasn't conniving and twisted like the real Boltar. Then toward the end it was who's the cylon this episode? Then the series ended where all of humanity was a cylons and none of them knew it until the end. Oh yeah and Earth was destroyed. That's stupid. The whole series was pointless. On top of that to promote the series they did blasphemy by making their serious characters into the last supper of Michelangelo's. Now even though Michelangelo's last supper is not historically accurate it was still intended to honor Jesus and therefore can be considered blasphemy when you parody it. Because they made that girl cylon into Jesus and that is blasphemy! Then Disney / lucasfilm try to do the same thing with Star Wars. I am sick of all this blasphemy in entertainment.

As the last decent reboot or continuation was BSG can’t say I feel too bad
