- Now that Act 5 is complete, let's catch up with Furina in her personal story quest! Traveller and Paimon accept a commission from the Adventurer's Guild, and ask an old acquaintance for some assistance.

Seriously though, what was up with Paimon in this quest? LOL. Felt like she had done a 180 from previous quests where she showed empathy. Someone had made an interesting theory about her being from Celestia, hence her displeasure at Furina... Could be? What do you think?

I feel like Paimon is a character the writers try to use as a catalyst for whatever conversations they want to happen, for better or worse
Sometimes, she's quite insightful, causing someone to say "That's a great point" and elaborate on something, while other times, she's missing the point and causes people to explain what she's doing wrong
On paper, this is an okay way to use a character, but I feel like it ends up making Paimon feel inconsistent sometimes 🤔
Like, for instance, does she like the cafeteria at the Fortress of Meropide or doesn't she?
In one quest, she says she doesn't like it very much, but in another, she says she's gonna miss it, with the difference being the direction the writers seem to want the conversation to flow
Similarly, she's had many moments where she shows a level of empathy rivaled by very few, but then she has moments like when she told Yun Jin and Shenhe to "cut the chit-chat" during a deep conversation, or, well, the entire first part of Furina's story quest
I'd guess in this case, they wanted Furina to talk about her boundaries, and therefore someone had to try to pressure her boundaries, but they chose Paimon and the Traveler to do this for some reason, despite it not making sense for them to do this 🤔
It could also be different teams writing the stories, and consistency isn't quite matching up, we just don't know.
I know this quest is quite divisive for some- it didn't annoy me as much as it did some others, from what I've seen, there were just a couple of instances where I thought the interactions were a little... off. Hopefully it leads into a more assured Furina in her 2nd character story, would be nice to see! Especially with her love for performing rekindled.
i get what hoyo was going for with paimon and traveler pushing furina into acting again. they just didnt do it very well, and it came across as rude. Could have made the quest go much smoother if at the start it was furina herself that showed interest in performing again but was hesitant bc of what she went through. and it was up to us to help her out.
Agreed, cos while she did choose to assist the cause of her own accord, some of the interactions could have been phrased differently to get the same point across.
lol a lot of people have been saying both the traveller and paimon are being asses in this quest...
They honestly were. Felt super out of place, especially for Traveller who witnessed Furina's memories. 🤨
