      Can I make suggestions?
      Look at "The Warning".
Start with "survive" (at TedX) and then "21st century blood" (the official video).
      Then look for "Motion Device".
Start with "thick skin", "Alive" and "doves and snakes".
The new generation is in town!

This is the first Black Sabbath album not to have Bill Ward on drums. Bill was a jazz drummer from back in the '60s, and in early Sabbath the jazz is clearly there. But he left after Heaven and Hell, so Sabbath picked up Vinnie Appice, younger brother of the legendary Carmine Appice.
Vinnie has a distinctively heavy and slow rhythm. I think it works with Sabbath.

"Shadow of the Wind" is probably the song in which Dio showcases his attitude and badassery incredibly. Also, "I", "Fear" and "Bible Black". "Falling off the Edge of the World" and "Die Young"....pure gems. You absolutely NEED to check them out!

Such a masterful song!! Dio was and always will be one of the Best voices, if not THE best voice, in Metal!! He was such a force in his records and his live performances. Truly honored to have witnessed such heavy metal majesty!! Thank you Vin and Sori for reacting to a gem of Sabbath era Dio. I would also recommend Judas Priest 'Touch of Evil', Testament 'Native Blood' and Candlemass 'Well of Souls'. 😉😊

One RJD song that I have loved since first day issue of "Dream Evil" is "All the Fools Sailed Away". It's never mentioned in any "best of" or "favorite" list, but I really think Vin will dig both the lyricism and the vocal strength. As a fan, and an old man that's been listening to Ronnie since Rainbow (and backtracking to Elf), you just can't go wrong with anything he has touched (pretending that Lock Up the Wolves never existed, of course). Also incredible off this same album is "Voodoo" and Children of the Sea from Heaven and Hell. Rock on.

The Southern Cross is a small conspicuous constellation in the S hemisphere lying in the Milky Way near Centaurus. The four brightest stars form a cross, the longer arm of which points to the south celestial pole. Used by Sailors to determine direction long before GPS :D lol

It's amazing that Dio always make you pay extra attention to the vocals when be sings. Such a great range and a amazing storyteller. I think Joey Belladona from Anthrax have been very influenced by his vocal style. You hear it very clearly on the latest two records. You should do In the End by Anthrax. It's a tribute to Dio and Dimebag. Otherwise my regular request, Helloween - Keeper of the seven keys 🎃

You should check out Dio - Magica full album That's a masterpiece and a concept album. Said Dio: "Magica is the saga of Blessing, a netherworld invaded by dark forces that vaporise people into pure, evil energy. The planet’s saviours are master, apprentice heroes Eriel and Challis, who must recite a spell from the sacred book of Magica to defeat their foe, Shadowcast. The album is written from the villain’s viewpoint. (...) I took on the evil perspective because I’ve always written from the anti-perspective. Most people don’t think in those terms so you are freer to create. I left the ending ambivalent because evil always exists, good doesn’t always triumph and that’s the universal balance."

And that song also has epic buildups and also features Brian May from Queen on guitar solo.

As follows is the best explanation I've read concerning the epic track:
General CommentThis is possibly the most underrated Black Sabbath song ever. It's also possibly their most epic song ever. I think the song is about not conforming and being your true self.
    "If there isn't light ..."
I think the first verse means that no matter what, what we say or do will always reflect how we feel and what we believe to some extent. And that other people can see what's inside us by our actions. To some extent, we can't wear a mask of conformity and "coolness" all the time.
    "Fade away..."
Fade away from the false happiness of being "cool" and be yourself. Society puts so many useless limits on us, and we need to get around those and show the world who we really are.
    "On a small world..."
This part is describing a paradise. As soon as one good thing ends "the summer falls," another begins "there's a rainbow..." This paradise is actually an emotional and mental one. It is the happiness we feel when we our ourselves.
    "If an echo doesn't..."
If when we are ourselves and are rejected, then we are disappointed, of course. However, our disappointment won't obstruct us, because few people will even notice it unless you bring it up.
    "And it's the sign..."
The Southern Cross is a constellation seen only in the Southern Hemisphere, which is sought by people from the Northern Hemisphere who can't see it back home. It is barely visible to the naked eye, but it is still there. The Southern Cross is a metaphor for the true happiness that we feel when we are our real selves. We are the northerners, and we have to go quite a long way just to find it, and even then we have to look hard for it. But, like all the stars in general, it is definitely worth looking for. The stars are actually quite beautiful. Just like true happiness.
    "From the book..."
Young people are the strongest because they haven't been corrupted by the horrors of life and society. Young people are more likely to be able to be themselves because society isn't completely done warping us into machines. This has been said by many other people, but none of them are remembered specifically for saying that. Society is trying to crush their voices about non-conformity.
    "Reach above your dreams..."
We need to look outside our own selfish desires and help the people who need our help the most.
    "Don't live for pleasure..."
This, like the "fade away" part, tells us not to fit in, but to live life to the fullest and be yourself whenever you can.
    "Eight miles high..."
This is a warning. What goes up must come down. And if you forced other people down on your way up (which it seems is implied here), then no one will want to help stop your fall. They would probably prefer to laugh at you in your agony.

Trying to decipher RJD’s lyrics is a Herculean task. He writes what he feels, what words flow together, not necessarily what makes sense. Usually there’s something mystical about it. He’s mentioned that this song is about the constellation - I don’t remember where I heard it.

As others have stated, the Southern Cross is a constellation in the southern hemisphere now called crux however what is not commonly known is that around the 4th millennium BCE it was seen in the northern hemisphere as far north as Britain in the summer but due to the procession of the equinox it slowly "faded away" lowering from sight in the northern latitudes and completely disappeared from sight by around 400 CE. Read the lyrics again keeping this in mind and it becomes a tale of fantasy, a story of hope that the sign will return and when it does not return they "sail away" to reunite with their lost sign and the strong meaning it had for them. Ancient peoples were always looking to the sky for guidance, when to plant when to harvest and when to war and so on. In the line when it is states "give a knife to those who die" is a reference to an ancient belief that giving someone a knife would forever sever the relationship. There are more gems in this song but the main point is that it is mostly a fantasy tale. I think Geezer wrote the bands lyrics and most likely this song. RIP RJD.

Please have a go at Canadian pagan doom metal band Blood Ceremony, its really folky and heavy the lady who sings has a wonderful voice and her flute playing is excellent, The guitar work is very reminiscent of black sabbath. The best songs to review are Drawing down the moon, Lord Summerisle (i think its a direct reference to the classic vintage British horror film The Wickerman) and Daughter of the Sun. Alos try the Luciferian Light orchestra another really good female fronted metal band from northern Europe, their song Church of Carmel is a beautiful classic
