    I wouldn't mind watching you restart if update bugs start being a bother.
    Edit: both. Early dungeon maze like, until first boss, then becoming more straight after. I do see that the map grid is limited. Maybe dev will add other floors one day.
    Edit 2: gear upgrades similar to Majesty: Kingdom Sim?

    I don't know if Aavak figured it out by now or does so in this episode - but I figured out, why chests aren't making any money.
    IMPORTANT: Yes, you lose all money that is still in chests at the end of a day. You don't get the money just by filling your chests during the day.
    What you need to do - and what I think the game should tell you to do, not just have it as a tooltip during loading - is LOCK the chests. You can only do this before starting a day and each chest you lock basically has a "soul"-maintenance. When locking a chest, it still fills with gold from defeated monsters; but heores can't empty it and at the end of a day all gold in *locked* chests is yours to keep.
    Simply said:
    - Unlocked chest can be looted by heroes, making them happy and giving them spending money for vending machines.
    - Locked chests accumulate all the money from defeated monsters but heores can't loot these chests, making the heroes unhappy.

      Gold really isn't an issue, or shouldn't be, after a while. Once you have placed most of the monsters you were able to summon it's gonna take a while before you unlock more and have a need to expand. Expanding to more rooms is definitely the priciest part of the game. Once you get to that point you're just passing days for the research and accumulating gold.

      @@gerritvalkering1068 Gold is the *only* issue in this game.
      Prestige goes up more or less on its own.
      Tickets are maxed out as you get to mid-game.
      Souls are a bit scarce but you don't really need them to expand.
      The thing that really slows your expansion is lack of gold. If you can get more gold for just slowing prestige increase a bit, that is certainly worth it.
      I do feel a thing as important as being able to lock chests should have been in the tutorial though!

    I think Bicclo needs their own spider nest room since they helped you in the beginning.
    Big dimly lit room, slow spawner for a strengthened Bicclo, a few fast spawners for weaker spiders. A campfire in the middle for ambushes.
    And a ghost chamber ensamble playing spooky spider music on the strings silently following the heroes in the dark, raising the tension and weakening the nerves.

    I think the best thing to do is wait until the campsites are definitely fixed, then move to a larger and harder dungeon with more of a plan in mind (Such as Cave, Inferno, Fancy, Forest sections, maybe each with a boss/miniboss room?)

      I think once the camp sites are fixed, I'd make it 1 rest area for every 4-5 rooms. I'd also localize all the vending machines into them. I think it would help get the heroes moving less erratically through the dungeon.

      @@Aavak Just thought of this. It would also make sense (though optional) to have the camping spots be sort of nexii for the dungeon, with branching paths leading off of one before converging to another. In this way you could also have doors to multiple “areas” (the aforementioned self contained sections) branch off of a single rest stop, while still directing dungeon traffic without too much crisscross between them.

    I generally prefer seeing a single run keep going as long as possible, but in this case, it feels like you might be able to do much cooler things if you restart, especially if you could get a larger map, and be able to go much longer and larger.

    Loving the series, I do think that starting a new dungeon would be nice but, if you do return to the current one, I believe that the boss room chests are causing the hero AI to break in some wierd way that causes them to loot one chest and then stand around which then causes them to be killed by the spawns

    At some point I would just delete everything and plan the dungeon anew, starting with an easy solo part, leading to a crossing with one way into a medium solo part and the other way into a hard group party starting with the grouping table room.

    You could probably put a DOOR in the BACK of the PARTY Table room as a bit of a "shortcut" to the boss for PARTYS.
    Edit: You COULD put the Grouping Table/Tables in the ENTRENCE so your Heros form groups more often. Like Convert The Entrance to a Party Room, then have 2 or 3 Branching paths to get thought the dungeon. Makes sense to me with the space we have to work with. Also, probably could put 1 or 2 monsters in the "potion" rooms just as a small boost to Entertainment value AND to "encourage" the adventures buy the potions since they will probably want to spend their freshly acquired LOOT.

      That's what I did and it works wonders. Pretty much only parties running about. with the odd ones left over. Can't force them to only come in a number divisible by 4 and the game doesn't seem to like to make a group of anything but four. My entrance is just for grouping up and reviving now. The next room is a fight, and the room after that is for buying potions (guaranteeing everyone has the money for it). Not having the potion machines in the room with the monsters means they are more likely to have left it before the next group comes, or before a monster respawns. I don't think they get much, if any, satisfaction from fighting the same group of monsters multiple times. Maybe someone else can check on that?

    Considering that the premise of the game is about making the heroes happy and only killing some of them, it has been weird how killing over half of the heroes and having terrible satisfaction has no real consequences. If that is because the difficulty is too low, then I support having a new run with a much higher difficulty.

      can confirm it's mostly the difficulty. The higher difficulty makes it really hard to gain a good reputation early on as they're just, well, not satisfied with two rooms and three monsters or somesuch. Think gaining + 0.03 rating per day. Unhappy people are also more likely to just go and leave, and will lower your rating when they do.

    I vote new dungeon - an embiggened and entoughened experience worthy of the underworld. With three wings representing the realms, carefully themed. And a pub with grouping tables as an entrance room.

    I think a linear dungeon with harder and harder areas would be great. There can still be a few branching paths for each area, but they converge before the boss/miniboss and then move onward.

    Continue until this build has all 3 bosses, I think, so saving up to 5000 gold will be needful at least.
    A few sanity checks when you continue...
    1. You should add up the rewards of killing each monster in a room and have at least enough chests in that room to store that amount. I'm specifically thinking about the boss room as the boss itself would need 6 ancient chests to hold all it's reward, but I'm betting there are other rooms, like with the drake, that do not have enough chest storage for all the rewards available in 1 round of total monster wipe.
    2. The entrance does not have to be at the initial room, you could have the entrance be the hall between the initial room and the hell hound room. If so, you could then add a long room filled with respawners, enough for the 40+ visitors to get a chance to use it( before the sum total uses runs out). This would let the few respawned hero's that want to leave get out quickly and the one's that want to try again the same path back to the start.
    3. I don't believe I saw you ever unlock any of the dungeon enhancement's available on the screen where you can change the entry fee. While I've only seen a few, I suspect there are a lot of interesting enhancements to take advantage of and you should have access to all three slots by this stage.
    4. Taking some time to upgrade your existing monsters( then adding enough gold storage to cover their rewards) across the map may be needful as the hero's are now all level 2 or higher themselves.
    Enjoying the game with you and looking forward to more late game play and testing.

    I think I was wrong with my guess yesterday about the green 'waiting' paths intersecting causing the sites not to be used. It was probably just a bug the dev hasn't had a chance to get around to fixing yet. Darn. As to a restart? I am on the fence. It'd mean seeing more of this game, which is cool, but don't want the shiny/new/fun factor to wear off for you to redo what you've already played before.

    For what it's worth, this series has been one of the very few I actually "watched" lately. Usually I tend to skip around a lot but this kept me consistently entertained for the whole time.
    Meaning, I'd love to watch more. Either as a new dungeon that incorporates all the lessons from this one or maybe as a less meta themed one.

    I do think we should restart. Not just because it might fix bugs but also because the game as it is right now is 'too easy' in the sense that you can get to the 5 stars too fast (though I'm unsure how much bigger this dungeon gets so I might be looking at it wrong). But definitely a bigger map!

    i think you should make a quick episode focusing on learning how to increase happiness and decreases unhappiness. then use that in the next dungeon.

    I think that you should do one more episode to find out what other things that you can research, and then the episode after take that knowledge and better optimise a harder harder and larger dungeon.

    i would love to see a new dungeon but i would love if you can do it a bit later in the future where the dev have some time to iron out all the details first. Loved the core concept of the game but it felt unpolished

    Heya Aavak,
    it's the middle of the night and I just had a spark of madness.
    Don't worry not of the eldritch or infernal type, but rather of the culinary type.
    Hear me out.
    Bockstandard pizzadough, but fancyfied.
    You get different types of Frischkäse ( Don't know the english name for it) and slather them on the dough.
    Roll it out on a baking sheet, apply the Frischkäse in a line lengthwise.
    Then fold the dough towards you, over the Frischkäse.
    After that apply a different kind of Frischkäse ( ideal a more flavour neutral type. ) and fold the dough away from you.
    Rinse and repeat with the other kinds of Frischkäse.
    Once you have no dough to fold left, roll a snail out of the dough and roll it out again. Flatten the formed layers.
    Then top the pizza to your liking.
    I hope you try it out one time and tell me how'd you like it.
    I call it my Damaskus-Pizza, because I had that idea after I played a blacksmith in my D&D group. Who made a Damaskus-steel-sword.
    I used bellpepper-, indian-, chive-, tomato-, herbs- and Meerrettich ( Sorry )-Frischkäse.

    If you do keep up with this dungeon, I suggest putting the fancy door from the Large Energy Potion room on the wall that puts them toward the Baby Drake fight. Funnel more heroes into the fights on that side of the dungeon and make it *slightly* less likely that the heroes will go with little trouble from Entrance -> Boss without visiting much else. Also, a boss gauntlet sounds cool, but it also sounds like it'd bottleneck the groups as they just kinda shuffle back and forth between boss rooms until they eventually die. Spreading out the bosses seems like it'd incentivize the foot traffic more.
    Also-also, it feels like the second combat room you made (I think it has a giant bat in it?) is one of the least frequented directions in the dungeon due to there being more lucrative paths away from it. Perhaps that should be one of your most leveled mobs, just for interest to the AI.

    Given the high frequency of updates, maybe keep playing this dungeon for 1 or 2 more videos, then move to a bigger one when there’s bigger and better updates implemented?

      This is a solid plan, especially if it takes a day or two to fully fix the campsite issue; that one is really holding us back.

    I’d love to see a mode similar to how two point hospital is where you 5 star then go to the next ‘dungeon’ map where difficulty changes or you get a new challenge to face. Similar to those tycoon mobile games. In regards here yeah restart and let’s try again with a new difficulty :D

    But maybe give it a few days to see if they can fix some of those more annoying bugs that have been an issue in your playthrough.

    From when I played recently, campsites now get re-used properly. There may be some other issues as I still get warnings about not enough resting places, when every third room has two (advanced) camping grounds. That may just be because they very much prefer free energy restoration over having to pay for it.
    The larger maps give you lots of room for different decently sized rooms, and you can use 'corridors' to place potion dispensers, blacksmiths, and other vendors. That stops people from hanging around for too long in a room. You don't have extra monster slots, so you really do just have extra space. And you need to use the extra space, because every room adds a smaller amount to your rating than the same room on the smaller map, as far as I could tell. It does give more space for decorating as you like.
    Styling the rooms you have to the monsters is a fun thing. I made a small storage room off to the side with barrels and stuff for a rat & spider combo, and a sort of fire temple for the hell shaman. I kinda wish there was a 'pond' from the forest decorations though.
    You mentioned earlier that it was hard to balance for groups, I actually found it easier as I could always just add 2 monsters to a room and be confident I'd get a kill or two at the boss as they got worn down enough. It didn't matter that they weren't being killed by the monsters, much, they were buying plenty of potions (especially the tanks). And that's why I have the boss, right? To finish the job.

    Okay, after watching three episodes, I think this looks like a very fun game, but it desperately needs to be rebalanced:
    - Heroes die all the time but still are WAY too happy about it. Prestige also seems to go up automatically.
    - Heroes get no rest but they still stay in the dungeon till they die.
    - Researches currently cost around 21 visitors when you get around 50 daily, so it's meaningless. They could just as well say you get one research a day.
    - The game spawning daily quests that cannot be completed yet is needlessly frustrating on one hand. On the other the rewards being capped out mid-game is very unsatisfying.
    - If you consider reaching 5 stars beating the game, you achieve that before getting even half the researches unlocked and with about 25% of the available area used.

    If you start a new run, a higher difficulty would be nice - just to see how that would look like. At the current level I don't think it is possible to lose.
    Also the different types of monsters practically scream for a Naxxramas style redesign later on when you have unlocked all the kinds of monsters and decorations: Have the dungeons split into differently themed branches, all with only one type of monsters/decorations!

    I think I would like to see a new dungeon, maybe one planned less organically and more intentionally. I feel like those solo adventurers that disregard the party table just got zapped out of existence in first 2-3 rooms. I think making the first room a place where they can buy potions - and later get smithed - and team up before going any further is the way to go, as it allows you to scale the difficulty in a way that isn't discriminatory towards any heroes. I also feel like you've rushed a bit with adding more and more rooms, instead of upgrading the difficulty of older rooms. While I do understand that going that way made it so your dungeon was more prestigious faster, it also made earlier rooms completely inconsequential. I think more frequent rebuilding of entire dungeon, together with retiring some monsters to the rural farm where they live happily ever after, could lead to more interesting choices and designs. That's not a critique of your playstyle by the way, but rather ideas based on what I think I've got as a viewer watching you fumble around in this learning the ropes.
    Also I see no point in camp sites. Just make the energy potion dispensers free if you want to use them in this way. They look good, but since they break and they're not really that useful even when they work, I think it's better to just abandon them altogether.
    As for the design of the dungeon, I feel the classic approach isn't the best bang for your buck. Rather, I think the boss room/rooms should be accessible early and maybe positioned centrally, possibly with multiple entrances. It was the most valuable room you had, but only a small portion of heroes actually got there, and when they did, they were already out of supplies. How about bosses for once PROTECT their brethren instead of throwing waves and waves of meat at heroes before having to face them themselves? If a burglar came to your house, would you have cats fight in your stead, or would you rather protect your cats with all your might? Be the dungeon boss they deserve to serve, not one they're doomed to serve.

    When i got that message i went on an upgrading spree that ended with me distroying the party table, whipping 2 days worth of people then promptly crashing the game due to to many monsters and heros haha

    I would vote against a new run unless the bugs are overwhelming simply due to the one research per day restriction. I suppose the 'end day' mechanic is a way to speed up research by giving up income.
    Regarding dungeon design, I prefer themed branches off of the starter areas leading to boss rooms but the current map might get a bit cramped.

    Need more rest spots? Must be a TTRPG. I swear, the number of times people have insisted on trying to have a long rest in D&D or the equivalent thereof in the middle of some form of dungeon is logically ridiculous. :D

      Also, I suggest starting a new one, mixing it up somehow. Whether difficult setting or any other method, I think it'll need to be different somehow.

    Room one should have your party table in it. This give you a high chance of parties forming. By having your party table in the second room, your chances of them forming a party drop conciderably.

      Indeed, as I've explained, that is in fact my goal, though tuning it to the right frequency is taking a bit of effort. But I don't want max groups.

    When they say they "wish there were more monsters" that's due to how many rooms don't have fights. The designers didn't apparently plan for people making rooms without fights and it seems to just upset the adventurers.

      No mods, you can watch from the start of the playthrough (this is episode 3 after all) to see how I progress. Though there have been a few patches since I started, so that will likely have affected game balance a bit?

    I cant figure out rest areas, i place them in side rooms and in main rooms with fighting and in "Shop" rooms and no one uses them and i constantly see the complaint of people are tired

      There seems to be a bug, though it has largely (from what I can see) been fixed with the basic camp-site, but is still very much present with the upgraded camp-site, where heroes seem to ignore the latter even when desperately tired.
