Composite Functions Exam question - Unknown Function - Simultaneous Equations - IB AA SL & HL Maths

In this exam question on composite functions we see how to use simultaneous equations to find an unknown function.
We have to find two unknown coefficients a and b and we're given two bits of information f[g(3)]=8 and g[f(-1)]=-3, which we use to find two equations involving a and b.
We then use simultaneous equations to find them.
