I always knew I would edit with this Song. But never knew it would be with this wonderful down to earth relatable character but oh well. (I can´t believe I edited seriously with a sports anime. But mind you folks Haikyuu is the only expectation! Haikyuu is different!) I also wish I had Oikawas work attitude but I´m a lazy fuck. In that department I´m more like Kenma…always just wanna do gaming :”D

This Song has me image myself as evil Queen (which, excuse your folks, I am.) who did some evil shit and angst and dramatic stuff happens. Because I´m a selfish bitch people then hate me so well they kinda revolt and then there´s Natsu who fights against me (that hurts btw) so well ofc he wins and punches some sense into me. Well after that people still really hate me and I´m doing miserable because well…my throne got taken away from me and yes lots of suffering and angst but Natsu kinda sticks by my side and helps me to become a better queen then. raaubus honestly I have no idea what I was thinking. Six months later and I wish I never had to hear that again.
I don't think there's a character in Haikyuu that doesn't work hard. Hinata didn't even have a volleyball team to play in. Sugawara and Inuoka lost their places on their team as regulars. Shirabu had to apply to Shiratorizawa as a normal student to join the volleyball, and even Goshiki, a "natural ace" works so hard to live up to the title of Shiratorizawa's ace. But I think Oikawa is one of the few Haikyuu characters who despite working so so so hard and despite having so many talents, he falls short in achieving his dreams. I really think out of all the setters, Oikawa has it all. He's analytical and can easily pick out the strengths and weaknesses of his own team and others. He can really understand people, and then he has the actual skills to adapt to each person. Despite his goofy and flamboyant personality, he's incredibly calm when things go wrong. He's an amazing captain, leader, setter, and the list can go on and on. But he's like the embodiment of the idea that hard work doesn't always reward which is absolutely devastating. Yet he still tries. I think Oikawa was the first to realize and quickly see how Kageyama would surpass him. At 13 or 14 years old, Oikawa basically was shown how his high school volleyball career was going to look like even before entering high school. I can't even imagine how that must have felt, and I don't blame Oikawa for being filled with so much hatred and frustration. It was like life had told him in advance that his dreams weren't going to happen.
But personally, I think nationals should not be the defining factor of whether or not Oikawa is a good volleyball player. I'm glad that during the conversation with Ushijima, Oikawa knows that his volleyball career isn't over and then during the walk home with Iwa-chan, Iwaizumi reaffirms that Oikawa will do great things in the future.
Oikawa is an amazing setter, and whether he's drawn in the manga or not, he will continue to be. At least in my heart :)
Asahi never really got a flashback time thing but during the match with a Dateko he got flashbacks during the last time he played Dateko of him getting blocked over and over again. Then he quit playing volleyball after that. But when he broke the iron wall I felt like he has waited for the moment to come just to land a spike going against the iron wall and after he did. I realized how hard it was for him just to land a spike so I feel like he's the who worked on one thing so hard just to do it.

Tracking back to what u said abt Oikawa in the second last part, that’s the whole point. He doesn’t think he’s good enough even though he worked so hard to the point where he had to get a knee brace bc of pain, even though he has three years to go to nationals he didn’t win, even though time and time again, he has the chance to go to the top volleyball school. He doesn’t. What’s even more of a blow towards him, is that going to nationals had always been his n iwa’s dream, so he never gave up.

He worked very hard and he is my favourite character but trust me, there is nothing for natural prodigy in setting. Height may be one for spiking but setting is pure effort and intelligence and Oikawa just feels that way. In my opinion it's his thoughts which hold him back and not his setting. With Ishikima as his spiker, he would have definetely understood how good he is and that's what Ushijima wanted as well.
Oikawa Tooru is indeed a relatable character.. His only passion was volleyball.. He wanted to be great at it.. What's wrong with that? He didn't have raw talent and that's why he *honestly* worked hard.. He had his insecurities and I love how Iwaizumi was there to support him get him past it.. Remember how he said that he isn't as good as Tobio and Iwaizumi got mad? XD But he still has his pride of being a setter.. He might not be talented but he isn't losing.. I love how he says to Ushiwaka: "Don't you ever forget my worthless pride". I *_love_* how prideful he is.. He works harder than anyone and he takes pride in it.. He might come off as arrogant but he doesn't look down on anyone..

In Oikawa's debut, I thought he'd be just another show off shōnen character. But my concept changed soon. He's one of my favourite characters ever. And this song suits him. It's actually so sad how he hides all of his insecurities. I relate to him just too much.

His hard work, his dedication, his tears, his sweat and his failures all brought him to that point, where he can stand tall and face off the people who had once defeated him. He didn’t manage to make it to the Nationals after this time, but his team mates still all support him and he managed to become an amazing player of the Argentina team, he finally made it

What I love about sports animes, is that every opposing team has their own backstory, that makes all the characters likeable
This is why Iwaizumi and Oikawa are my favorite characters. They’re such hardworking boys and they put in so much effort into what they do. Especially Oikawa. On the outside, he may seem like a jackass playboy who gets everything he wants from just looking at someone. But in all actuality, he’s insecure. He’s insecure about the fact that his first year kouhai is better than them, when Oikawa had trained hard all of his life. He pushes himself over the limit to get better than Kageyama, which is how he he sprained his leg. His girlfriend broke up with him because he was too into volleyball. Honestly, it hurts how he’s able to keep up that perfect facade for everyone else. Just makes me wanna give him a big hug 🥺

In terms of anime, I just want to say that I will wait for him to retain the Crown. It only belongs to him. He will always be the Great King for me regardless of who the best setter in Haikyuu is. I fail to care about that. Oikawa's philosophy of playing is why he deserves being called the King. The way he understands each player and tries to do the best for them. I remember when he said to Kindaichi, 'If you have any problem, come and ask me.' He did the same, albeit pettily, for Kageyama too. Kageyama did have a problem and he did bring it to Oikawa's notice and Oikawa gave him the best advice, which he implemented till the end even when he got rattled by the goody two shoes comment of Atsumu. Oikawa may not be technically the sharpest but the way he goes about everything is why I respect him.

Oikawa is king because "a king isnt born he is made". He wasn't gifted extraordinary skills like others but still he is one of the most feared and wanted players in haikyuu!
When oikawa was first introduced in haikyuu, he seems like the kind of popular playboy athlete with a ton of fangirls whenever he's on court...but the truth side of him is when he's on court alone.He works really hard to get to the top spot even if it means to neglect his own condition and get rid of ppl around him (p/s kageyama and his girlfriend)...all he wanted was to simply be THE BEST even if he doesn't have raw talents like kageyama and ushijima... I never really hated oikawa and in fact i admired his character the most because even if he wasn't born with raw talents like the others, he still wanted to get to the top...He still wanted to win...he still keeps on practicing hard perfecting his skills and pushing himself through his limits constantly because he fully believes that day will come when pure hardwork beats talent
Oikawa is the main antagonist of Haikyuu and he is so similar to the main protagonist of the story. That's why I am so happy when the two characters met in Brazil. It's like a fate.

People hate him and I don’t understand why I’ve simped for him ever since he was introduced to the series because of all his self confidence and even I know he isn’t that confident in himself and is just hiding how much he hates himself. I cried when he lost I wanted him to go to nationals so bad he deserves way more then what he’s getting. He’s honestly the best haikyuu character in my opinion, I wish he was real so much so I can comfort him and tell him he’s enough and all his hard work will pay off. ❤️

Oikawa is that one character I'll never forget, even when im an adult and married (maybe) and have kids. I'll never forget him, Oikawa will always be the greatest king.

though the reason of that is to bring out the best of their team! hes not self obssesed or prideful!
he just wants to be prideful for his team to say that he cares and that he wants to help his teamates remain calm whenever they're going through some hard shit.
and i would like to say that HE IS INSECURE.HE THINKS HES NOT WORTH ANYTHING. SO STOP SAYING HES BEING QUITE A NARCISSISTIC,PRIDEFUL/BOASTFUL, AND SELF OBSSESED BEACAUSE HES NOT. HE DESERVES THE WORLD! i am not quite a oikawa stan but i know his worth.
i feel him. he felt all this pressure of being the best and after karasuno beat them he probably took it the hardest since he knew he would never be as good as kageyama. thats an immense amount of pressure
When they lost we all cried. I badly wished they had defeated Shiratorizawa :(:(:(
many Haikyuu fans are Oikawa simp. tbh, I don't simp for Oikawa but I truly admire him on and off-court. His passion and determination as a player made me feel so proud of him, and I could say he's one of the best players in the series. Though he did not make it to Nationals, it doesn't mean he's a loser or weak. Other great players truly see Oikawa as a respectable volleyball player, someone who is more than Nationals, a legend.
and he's really adorable off-court especially towards Iwa- chan and other 3rd years :)

I love Oikawa so muchh TT - TT He's so important to me, he might have that "confidence" of his but deep down he has a very low self-esteem.. It hurts seeing his team mates bully him like its no big deal, they don't even know what he's going through..
The moment I saw Oikawa, I fell in love with his character, like he's very relatable, for example he tries so hard because he's not gifted to be a genius and works so hard to please himself, he puts an act so that people won't worry about him if he's all sad, it so sad seeing that a lot of people hate him, it was also for Kags growth that's why Furudate-san added him, but most likely because he's such a inspiration to all of us. Kudos to the author❤️✨

I feel like a lot of people belittle kageyama’s efforts and karasunos’s and wrote them of as main characters and geniuses when speaking on oikawas skill. But like people forget that oikawa was also naturally talented his ability to tune his sets into exactly each spiker is a natural ability he had and developed. The point of his character is that he got so lost in his hatred that he would one day lose to kageyama even if he hadn’t yet and he would lose because he wasn’t a “prodigy” but I’m sure that alot of people would consider him one more so than kageyama because again volleyball is a team sport and in the beginning kageyama couldn’t function as a team setter and still has problems with it. There are alot of “geniuses” in the show and they all work hard and as kita said to right them off as geniuses or monsters before you even step on the court is you trying to make excuse for your “inevitable” failure and it’s just plain disrespectful to the work they put in. Point in all Oikawa definetly needs some kind of therapy to help with his interiority complex and without spoilers it looks like he got it after the time skip
I feel bad for Oikawa for losing their fight, though they still managed and tried their best. If Oikawa was real and If I knew where he lived even tho its far away from my country, I would manage to find him and hug him. He did his really best on the game. I don't care if I am as tall as hinata while hugging him, I still want to comfort him.
