I do like that. Good memories from the power valve days. Wasn't a ride, was a race, everywhere.
I love what Velocity Moto do to the Yamahas. Big fan of their work.
Couldn't give a toss what it sounds like, that thing looks absolutely amazing 👌. When the XSR was first released, I honestly thought Yamaha would have gone in this direction. Even if it was a special anniversary edition, odd they didn't really.
I hope the Yamaha design team would watch this. This XSR has been transformed - in the best way possible
I was just telling my brother, the other day, that the XSR should look like these old Yamaha 2 strokes. And now I see this. This is so much nicer than the factory body. It even gives my Z900RS Cafe a run for it's money, in the looks department.
It looks beautiful. Velocity moto do a quality conversion. I've still got my Velocity moto LC900 which is nearly 3 years old now. Nothing Velocity has made made has failed and paint still looks amazing.
There will always be two stroke enthusiasts that will say its fake but you get great looks and four stroke reliability and Yamaha warranty.
Great vid 👌
Agreed, I have seen your 900 on your channel, I am just building a 700 myself
@@craigtruelove444 brilliant 👍👍
So surprised Yamaha didn't do this themselves, one of the most iconic looking bikes, a must for a retro look ? That rear end looked soft, it kept making you inadvertently pop the front wheel up 🙂
Yes that's it really can't help it! 😆 it's wasn't me anyway, that was the stunt rider 😁
@Lamb Chop Rides its a real shame Yamaha cheaped out on the 700 frame.. shame accounts dept.. the engine easily competes with Aprilia's 660.. once its tuned for track.. this concept could be really pushed as a competative yet retro sports/track package with a frame mod upgrade to stiffen it all up.. & the RZ350 full fairing option.. takes me waay back.. remember when Honda released the CB1100R.. $10,000 was moon dust stuff nearly double the likes of Suzukis gsx1100.. we had a wire wheel hotrod Katana1100 version here in NZ, Aus & SA that matched the CB.. good old production Castrol 6hr racing days.. love this look.. hate the transformer gen style (not stylish!!).. keep up the great vids Choppsy
What a gorgeous bit of nostalgia! I used to own the later model YPVS in black, but always preferred the look of that earlier model. All it is lacking is an extension & a micron badge on the end can!
ThanKyou for taking me back down memory lane, loved my rz350 , I know this is a 4 stroke but , I love the look and its rz350 like character of wheeling and having fun
Frame flex and a proper seat, just like the good old days!
I have a 2018 and I still love it. Back to basics bike, a lot of fun
Looks so awesome brilliant brings back a lot of memories.. wow 🤩
as someone who had a ypvs (full faired) back in the day, that beast looks awesome!
My dad (in his 70s) has an xsr that he pootles round the highlands on and its perfect - power is smooth, suspension it smooth and its comfortable.
We ❤️ wheelies! Wheelies are big and wheelies are clever and the bigger they are the cleverer they are! Fast Bikes 1998! Still love a good wheelie but times have changed... keep up the good work Chopsy from a fellow hooligan! 👍
I love this salute to the RD350 YPVS, I first had the 350 L/C then the YPVS 350F in the eighties and loved both of them, I'd never ridden an MT-07 till my nephew bought one, after riding it I came back with a beaming smile and ironically said "that's the closest thing to the 350 L/C I've ever ridden" it was so much fun but the suspension was a bit agricultural when compared to my street triple.
Being a CP2 fan boy and a forma RD350 owner, that looks awesome
Looks superb! Always fancied a go on an MT-07, reckon it would be a lot like my old Hypermotard 796, no willy waving needed, just thrills
At a glance it looks like the original version......they've certainly done a great job with that yamaha. Now all we need is a yamaha FS1E in Kenny Roberts colour's 🤣👍
Great video again Chops. 😊👍
Haha now that's an idea! 😁
Great review, thanks for the upload Chopsy.
Chops, give the people what they want.... Hypermotard restoration! Awesome content as usual, that 100k subscribers can't be far off.
Soon Oswald, once I move and have room the project can begin again 👍
‼️ I keep coming bk to this One‼️
I’m really thinking of adding a XSR 700 as a pal for my BMW R1200RS. With an exhaust and a flash of the ECU I think that’s a steal of a bike
I've just sold my Yamaha Tenere 700 and bought a Suzuki SV650. It brings a smile to my face every time I ride it, and I haven't regretted it one bit. I've put a few mods on it, and I've just fitted a looky-likey Yoshimura Alpha exhaust - it sounds epic! Save some cash and buy an SV650!
Wow, they did a great job with this customization, wouldn't have recognized the XSR in this disguise 🥸 👌 Great video, thx for sharing!
It looks almost right- looks like a powervalve that's a bit of a front end whack though!
Very nice. Beautiful bike and a top review
Great looking bike.
That is gorgeous!
Was crying out for this, emailed Hag, now sold my XSR7 but may buy another now...............because that is amazing!
Take it you never got a response either? You'd think after all that development work, they'd want to take your cash, apparently not?
Biggest fan Powamoto says awesome review Chops so I brought all these thumbs up for ya algorithms Mate 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Yeah that was fun!
Bigger doesn't mean better when moving on up from a CP2 engined bike. I rode a S1000XR this week and wouldn't take it over the 700 Tracer I had a couple of bikes back. The suspension was just as uncomfortable as the Tracer and to my mind the CP2 is a peach and just good fun to ride. You're on a nice bit of form with the context recently Chopsie. 👍
Thanks Ian 👍
@@LambChopRides I downsized from a CP3 to a CP2(Tracer 7) and i do not regret it....especially the weight(shaved 20+kg off the Tracer 7)!
I am just building one now 👍
there is already an after market speedo relocater, and there are £110 spring upgrades, lower bars and you've cracked it. love the kit I would have the kenny roberts yellow. had the tank cover on my xsr700 there is a video on my YT. shared on the xsr700 Facebook page :)
This would be a good project bike Chop’s 👍
Lovely looking bike
Would be nice with retro looking clocks
Yes it would complete it
Talking about the wallowy frame, suspension I have a MT09 SP 22" and for a service I was given a MT07 to ride and I was surprised the suspension felt like a pogo stick.
Just stunning…
Great review, you talked about the flex but I had all the rd bikes except the 500 and my 350 flexed. Coming out of a corner on the power band the back end was wiggling like a Latino dancer . Looks fantastic. I'd be very tempted.
Very authentic then! 😁😁👍
That a Great fun bike lamb chops.
Wheelie nice bike and fun review, buddy👍🏻 #FUN # TeamLCR
Thanks Mike 👍 😊
A thing of beauty even the little infills at the top of the frame like on the 31k power valve , the attention to detail is excellent even down to the tyres , may see you again at another random encounter mate .. (russ’s) ps ktm went mt10 coming… ktm to business like for me (as a road bike) mt10 more fun and smoother (imo) but I digress…
Nice one chopsie loved it and I'm not a yamaha lover..
Reminds me of my 1985 RZ 350.My greatest loss to thieves.Rather get myself a Kawa RS 900.Cheers.
I want one in a 900 soo sick. :-)
My Mrs asked me to "take her up the hill climb" I said I had a headache 😑 😉
The occassional wheelie is fun. My S1000R makes it nearly impossible. That bike looks a giggle. They should do a 900 version
There is an xsr900 unsure if this kit will fit though :)
I had the RD350LC when it first came out, they did not have any of the headlamp fairing and lower cowl, also a different paint scheme. This must be reflective of the later models, it does look nice, but then so does the XSR700 anyway.
Already a subscriber, as well as teapot, Missenden flyer to name a couple, trouble is I spend so much time watching other peoples videos I am neglecting my own channel 😂
Ian
Haha thanks for watching Ian 👍😁
I’m not in to the retro style, but the sound is wicked😛
Beautiful bike in its own right but, for nostalgia nuts, it’s going to be amazing!
Very nice review & s good looking bike Chops. I like a Neo-retro but rarely do the manufacturers get the balance right. This definitely look like a decent effort. Are the "flaws" with the suspension etc engineered in to emulate the RD350's or is it just not set up properly as K-Tech are good & a grand should be enough to get you decent quality fully adjustable units.
Think it's due to the chassis, to much flex in the frame. But still a great bike nonetheless!
@@LambChopRides Ah right. Thanks for the clarity. I did think they probably hadn't gone to the extent of trying to emulate the RD's ride but you never know I guess. Either way though, very cool.
The 31K had one of the best looking bikini fairings every made and although this isn't a 2T I have to admit it looks pretty impressive, but £7k for the full conversion is a lot ! 🤔
Yes but you can just the kit and do it yourself, don't have to go with all the options
IMO the XSR/MT range are fugly but the LC versions I could definitely live with.
Great review I love my xsr700 its a fun thing to ride, on another note chops I have three nights this week in maidstone where is good to eat? Il eat anything to be fair
Great bikes eh! Regards Maidstone no clue.. not my local town. That's Teapots local haunt 👍😁
Would look so much better with a classic needle clock
👍
Shame that those stock tyres suck.
Loved learning to ride on my xsr700.
Looks stunning, I liked it's bigger brother that you reviewed more, you say that it's wallowing a bit, didn't you adjust the rear shock for your weight, that's a given... 🤦
No it's more than just a soft rear shock! The flex is in the chassis
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
great review as always chops . was wondering if i could ask your advice about my wheels . just having my ducati single sided wheel straightened at Motoliner in maidstone. after which i would like it powder coated black to try and give it the factory look again . the boys told me to be carful where i take it as acid dipping said wheels is a very tricky job as it can weaken the wheels on these as there soft . reconmened shot not dip .. so any help with this subject and recommendation would be great . south coast west sussex / hampshire area . many thanks sean .
Hi Sean, my mate Adam at A1 Powdercoating buddy. He's one of my sponsors and does all bike bits including wheels. He will blast them not acid dip 👍 his details are in the video description
Cool looking bike, great review. There seems to be an issue with the Velocity moto link.
Yeah better to find thier Facebook page actually
CP2 cross plane is a 270° firing order, same as Triumph speed twins, ktm 890, Enfield gt, and practically every other parallel twin thats built these day... ffs, yamahas own 1996 trx/tdm had a 270° firing order, mimicking that of a 90° V Twin... this was one of the reasons why i opted for an older f800r with its 360° fo.
Take note Yamaha.......now that DOES look good!
that was great reminds of the old days...
It’s the same chassis as the R7, they added side plates to stiffen the chassis, could you not add them to this bike to stiffen it up like the R7?
Yes maybe that's the answer!
I take it the bike has a decat to sound that good?👍
Yes indeed
Wow at first I thought it was a ypvs
Isn't the later chassis much stiffer?
Not sure... hope so!
This is the perfect American film bike…. Looks like a two stroke yet sounds like a four stroke 😂…. Why can film makers and specifically sound engineers not leave bike engine sounds alone…. Harleys sound like Honda 4 cylinders, fours strokes sound like two strokes and the reverse and they have endless gears… plus all roads are always wet 🤦♂️
Haha yes that's allways the case in movies! Up through 3 - 4 gears and doing 40 mph 😆
And they are flat out in a chase then miraculously change down a gear and accelerate away from the pursuer
"Ultimate" ..."cough"...think I have that...replica of Kenny Roberts TZ750 flattracker built out of a XSR700...going up to 115bhp like the original... dunno who buys those kits, tried long enough to buy the 900 one, no one ever got back to me!(XSR900 subframe and bits for sale, sold bike without converting it).
I think the tail looks too long for the bike.
Did you adjust suspension? You complain about "wallow" and how the bike handles - yet it has K-tech which likely is not set up for your weight and riding style. Most people are VERY happy with K-tech suspension.
I wouldn't call it ultimate retro, I feel it needs side body fairings.
That would then look like a mark 2 YPVS. This look is the first version.
Very true 👍
@@johnsparks211 I'll settle for Ultimate Mark I version.
Call me an old fart, but that's a good looking bike.
It is Michael isn't it! 👍
@@LambChopRides yeah. It's the type of bike that makes you feel 18, and not just in your head.
The MT10 will impress you Chops , the 700 is what a bike should be not loaded with electronic rider aides
Beautiful exactly what a motorcycle should be , you’ve been spoiled with to much electric rider aides
Why Yamaha themselves havnt done this kind of thing? The original XSR's look awful imo
Nice but not worth the money. The standard bike is just as good looking
MT010 😂😂😂😂
What an abomination that XSR is. Standard it's stunning.
Good god that bike looks awful.
Best look again when you're sober.
Yamaha MT 10 test would be good, as I’m thinking of buying one when I move back across the pond. Or the Aprilia Tuono.🏍🌋🏔👍👍
Sorry to put a downer on all this but I've just tried to find Velocity Moto shop/phone details from THEIR website and found nothing. When you posted the 900LC video it was just the same [the website is like a 1990's site that people posted just to register their own name before someone else]
Click on facebook, it tells you to come back later when they've got something to post etc
The website even says 'if you want to put in an order you can BUT we can't guarantee we'll have anything in stock'
I live in south London, they are in Surrey but where?
Anyybody know add. +phone details? Cheers
Any chance of driving it legally!?
