I feel like we all have probably known someone with this type of personality- simple minded, no ability to think for themselves or take a stand for what's right kind of people. To think that 5 adults like this were able to meet up and allow such atrocities to occur just mind boggling!!

    So your college-bound adopted daughter says that she wants to suddenly move to Virginia to live with her abusive biological parents instead, and then some time later you learn that your adopted daughter is pregnant with her biological father's child and plans to marry him and your only response is: Well I guess we should attend the wedding to be supportive?
    What the hell is wrong with these people?

      This is the risk that comes with open adoption, which make up like 95% of adoptions in the U.S these days. There's always the chance that the kid will get drawn back into the birth parents' fucked up world. They have the right to send pictures, birthday cards & other correspondence before the age of 18 in many instances as well. Most bioparents are not this fucked up but the fact remains: if you place your child for adoption, you should be forfeiting your right to be in their life. It's not your child anymore.

      @@NymbusCumulo928 big oof!! I have to assume that since you’re stating something incorrect with that much conviction and a whole lot of venom, that either you yourself are a survivor of some kind of s*xual assault, r*pe, or m*lestation, or someone you know and care very much about is (censored so RUclips doesn’t delete my comment for those words being in it, since the bots often misidentify content that discusses true crime cases/ healing after assault/psychology of victims of those crimes, etc and wrongly flags it against TOS) or maybe it (thankfully) never happened to you or anyone you know, but you have just always personally wanted to help victims of these crimes and have donated to charities for survivors, or personally identified with the MeToo movement and were outraged at how many people suffer assaults of a s*xual nature still in this day and age. Whatever it is, I am guessing you are saying Katie is disgusting and “guilty” because you feel slighted, offended or even insulted by people calling her a “victim” when you personally don’t see any evidence that it happened against her will. Maybe you think it’s gross or unfair to lump Katie in with victims who were physically forced or injured during their assault, or who said no the entire time, or who were attacked out of the blue by a stranger… they certainly never did something like willingly move in with a man if they felt unsafe with him, and if a roommate of theirs did something against their will they would have left and reported it the same night, not had a baby with the person who assaulted them and then marry him. I’m guessing this is close to how you feel: “When someone is a victim they actively fight back and say no. She could have said no, or she could have left after he tried something but she didn’t. She never did, so she was NOT A VICTIM and 100% FULLY wanted everything that happened to her” Please correct me where I’ve guessed your opinion on the matter incorrectly and feel free to explain how you think.
      I can understand how in some cases, for someone who’s assault WAS violent, or for someone who made it very clear they did not consent during their assault, seeing someone who was not physically forced or injured be labeled a “victim” and lumped into the exact same group as people who WERE forced or injured during their assault could bring up lots of negative emotions. To them, it might feel unfair to group someone who seemed “willing” and didn’t get hurt in with victims of assault who went through something horrible that hurt them, which they never asked for. I understand that if you feel like Katie “wanted” all of it and fully contended, it would upset you for people to call her a victim.
      Thing is, Katie underwent something that psychologists call “grooming”. Her biological father groomed her into whatever he wanted, which happened to be accepting his advances and allowing him to do what he wanted. Katie, who started speaking to them before she was 18 and moved there when she was 18, was nowhere near as emotionally mature as a 40-something adult, she was not emotionally as developed as a 40-something yr old adult, she had nowhere near as many experiences as he did and didn’t even have enough experiences yet to always make the best choice for herself. She had JUST turned 18, so she wasn’t on the far side of 18 she was basically still 17. Medical science has proven that our brain doesn’t finish fully growing and developing until around 26 years old, and until the brain is finished growing, it cannot be expected to be on the EXACT same level as a brain that is fully grown. It will make silly mistakes, it has more to learn, it isn’t fully developed yet. You dont have to trust me. Google it; look up all the ways that a brain that isn’t fully matured affects kids and young 20-somethings behavior and choices, and how they see the world, google can explain it a lot better then I can.
      Someone being groomed by a predatory figure into accepting their advances is not “consenting”. When you’re groomed by someone and they are effectively able to manipulate your actions, you’re not able to give true consent to them because they are controlling you and manipulating you into allowing them to do what they want you to. Someone who has been groomed may verbally tell their abuser that they consent to something, but that is in no way true honest consent between two equal partners. The abuser and person being groomed are NOT equals in the relationship, the abuser controls and manipulates the person they are grooming, strong arming them and forcing them into things, coercing them to finally agree to things, constantly badgering them and heightening the anxiety until they agree with things - there are lots of awful ways groomers get people to do what they want, but none of it is the same as true, actual consent between two partners who are equals in the relationship and trust each other. So no, Katie did not “consent” to this relationship with her father, she was manipulated into saying yes for a very short while. And almost IMMEDIATELY after the police separated the two of them, Katie realized what was going on and broke it off with him, bc she suddenly was not under the control and manipulation of her father for the first time in a couple years. She was able to think for herself and think something out completely, say what she wanted to do without worrying if it would upset her abusive father, and the people around her supported what she chose. It’s very, VERY telling that the very moment she was able to get away from him for any real amount of time and sleep somewhere else where he couldn’t be, and was suddenly faced with the fact that maybe the court wouldn’t let him be around her anymore in the future, she said she was done and it was over.
      Katie did not consent. She does not deserve what happened. She is in no way disgusting. She was groomed and manipulated by an evil disgusting man who deserves to rot in hell. Katie is a victim of grooming and manipulation, and likely of abuse just like he abused every other woman he dated. Katie did not deserve ANY of this.

    • @TheSarahbee23
      @TheSarahbee23 2 года назад +8

      @@NymbusCumulo928 also, I don’t remember hearing that Steven grew up being abused? But even if he did, past trauma only accounts for certain things later in someone’s life. Just bc someone has a lot of trauma from what happened to them as a child, doesn’t mean that they couldn’t control their actions due to that trauma if they hurt someone and thus shouldn’t be held accountable with jail time. LOTS of people have PTSD or other forms of trauma from their childhood and they don’t murder people, or attack people, or r*pe/s*xually assault people. If someone commits a horrible crime as a fully grown adult with a fully developed brain (brain stops developing at has fully grown by age 26) it’s not BECAUSE of the childhood trauma they suffered, and they still need to go to jail and deal with the consequences of their actions. There is a difference between being an adult with a fully developed brain who’s 40-50 yrs old and a life full of experiences who committed a crime, and being 18 years old, a month or two earlier you were still a child so not super adult , who’s brain will not be fully developed for 8 more years, who is being groomed and abused by an adult who you look up to and want to have a good relationship with. Groomers use the fact that the younger person enjoys being around them, that the younger person gets a self esteem boost from making people proud or being told “good job!” as one of the ways they manipulate the person they’re grooming. I’m sure katie wanted to have a good relationship with her birth parents. Steven grooming her and taking advantage of his daughter is the disgusting thing, poor Katie was being manipulated and the SECOND she got away from him she broke it off. You can’t blame katie for what happened to her any more then you could blame a 10 year old for being groomed and assaulted by a 30 year old, it’s in NO WAY the 10 year olds fault , in any way shape or form
      Rest In Peace katie

    Family secrets of incest are common as fuck. I learned as an adult that my uncle was sexually abusing his daughter, and nobody in the family did anything about it. He died never facing any consequences for it. It's not that weird that the adoptive parents went along with the marriage between the dad and his daughter. It's like people are so afraid of being embarrassed publicly by a family member committing gruesome acts that they'll turn a blind eye and let the abuse continue...

    weird. when I was 16 at the same time as this story, my 21 year old online boyfriend from California flew to Texas to visit me. he showed up at my high school football game where I was performing with the drill team. I told him to swing by my house with ice cream because I wasn't just a teenager, I was... a naive teenager. My father very calmly came outside on the porch as he arrived and told him to get back in his car, drive back to the airport, and get on the first plane back to California. the guy hauled ass so fast he left a dust cloud and even at the time, I kind of knew Dad was right.
    he's fighting stage 4 liver cancer right now so I do everything I can to remind him at every opportunity what a good father he was. he didn't helicopter parent so I didn't feel the need to sneak around. he didn't even put his foot down that often--but that's why, when he did, some part of me inherently understood he was right.

Vader, after its multistate massacre. The real true horror though is how much of this is going on that don't get unearthed or reported - or corrected - since those scenarios haven't gone down the bloodfilled sinkhole THIS thing created (oh yeah, paging a certain "wesson!" 💩🤬) The state of this vile "permissiveness" to procreation-prone incest WHEREVER it's tolerated needs to be ended!!!

    Eww! My Dad was arrested when I was 3 and he was released when I was 16. I think he had this, he was pretty creepy for a while and in a sexual way. He would talk about how it was ok for a dad and daughter to date. My stepmom was just as disgusted with his behaviour as I was. I threatened to tell my biological mom if he continued with his disgusting "jokes" (he would always play it off as a joke when he saw my reaction). He eventually stopped but it still lingers in my memory, I'm 30 now, I honestly don't like him much and rarely visit him or my half siblings cause I can't stand him as a human being. This is something I've only told one person and no one else cause I get sick remembering that once happened. It's sad cause I had gone so long without a Dad, when I finally had him back he was nothing like I imagined. I had feelings of loss, sadness, fear, disgust and anger. I tried moving past that but it really still haunts me and I end up pulling away again.

      Unfortunately since he got with her when she was so young she was probably extensively groomed and intimidated by him. Domestic violence involves a lot of manipulation, emotional and often financial abuse - the victim ends up with low self esteem and are made to doubt their ability to “live” without their abuser.

    • @McSnezzly
      @McSnezzly 2 года назад +24

      That’s why you should always call out older men trying to date teenagers even if it’s not “technically pedophilia”. They go after teens because it’s really easy to take control of them, and the abuse is so bad they’re basically brain washed.
      Scientists did a study where they electrocuted dogs in a cage, and when they opened the cage door the dogs didn’t even bother leaving. They just gave up, and were too scared. If you convince someone their life is a certain way, they won’t know what normal is and they won’t even know how to leave. I’ve been there where I had the domestic violence hotline dialed, but I was frozen because being a victim is all I knew. I was scared for my life, but I was also scared to go into the unknown. There was also the feeling of not thinking I deserved help. I’m still finding out things I went through were abusive.
      If they did a brain scan on her I bet they’d find brain damage bc trauma attacks the brain.

This reasoning is why parents are terrified to discipline their children in public today. What ever made you believe that it’s appropriate to tell other people how to parent their children? Funny how people wonder why so many individuals from younger generations behave like entitled aholes.
      If I acted up in a store after repeatedly being told to behave, I would be spanked if the other parent wasn’t there to take me out of the store before it got to that point. Spanking was always the last resort and only in certain situations. I was very rarely spanked and grew up to be a respectful, successful and law abiding citizen.
