  • The tradition of beating the heavy drums made of thick wood goes back centuries in Burundi (Central Africa) and is accompanied by an elaborate choreography. The drummers enjoy great popularity.

    I was just in Burundi! I've been a drummer for 20 years, and I can say that when I went to drum with the Burundians I wad blown away. Magnificent drummers and musicians. I dearly miss this beautiful country with it's beautiful people.

    what i also see are the indigenous african martial arts techniques of the drumming techniques employed, ex. circling the neck with a stick, a technique used to parry cuts to the neck as well as the figure 8 techniques ...! this is african warrior music too.
