      I was starting to be afraid the Manta got broken beyond repair and that you were stuck at the first stage of grief and all those new projects were just a way to cope with the accident (don’t get me wrong, they are all cool but going from bi-weekly news on the Manta to none at all was worrying).
      Anyway glad to see everything’s fine on your side and can’t wait to see the Manta diorama again😁

    The colours look epic! About the table: I see many gaming tables which are quite geometric in set-up (e.g. squares), but many medieval cities are anything but that. Maybe angle the river through the table or have a curve in it, with some wonky streets. Maybe it's a nice idea, maybe it's not your thing. Good luck!

    It's going to look great but I feel a big river in the middle takes away gaming space in prime gaming real estate. I think a series of narrower canals on the periphery would have a great look and not place too much tactical importance on their bridges. Might make sewer play more difficult - unless you could lift up the ground level and play underneath? That would also be cool. Look forward to seeing more of it.

    Awesome houses! And the idea to add bridges in between the houses and decks around of the houses is a great idea to get a cool multi level game event. But I wouldn't make a big open river area in the middle. You will always play on the one side or the other. Maybe adding a bridge full of houses like the Ponte vecchio could help to connect both sides creating an area you can really play on. And of course some light effects, and a krypta, and... :-)

    You should add tiny screw eyes (skruvögglor) here and there on the buildings as you finish them. Then you can use wire with bent hooks at the end to create ropes and bridges between houses - that look good and are easily removable but don’t fall off if you bump into the table.
    Great project!

  • @zimmtex6727
    @zimmtex6727 2 года назад +1

    I love all the detail! I believe it does draw you into the story and makes it more emersive. I think you could almost double the play area by stacking tables so you had an underworld with sewers entering into a cave system/ dungeon that went all the way around. Can't wait to see more!

  • @RAGEINGChiken

    A really cool sewer you could do is an L shape, from the side that connects to the river. And remove the top section of foam, then put either a hinge or clip system on it so you can remove the top of the sewer when playing and moving the minis, but then reset it for the atmosphere when they are being used. That way you can still use the top of that sewer as a ground for the area above.

    This is gonna be epic (as usual)...
    One point to consider: aqueducts won't empty fresh water into more natural waterways (that are largely a cheap method of transport for trade and essentially just a larger sewer for the settlement). But, dilapidated aqueducts could be found crossing a waterway adding traversability (and height advantages a typical bridge would not) to gameplay.
    Looking forward to this next project...
    Cheers!

    Maybe you could carve out the sewer system all around the sides of the gaming table? A few ladders could lead up to manhole covers or (contaminated) wells. The sewer could also run out in the river, so you could get out that way as well. Maybe the tides are low so the water is not too deep, thus you don't have to depend on crossing bridges to get over it. You could pass via the sewers, or maybe jumping across debris/sunken boats that are sticking up from the water.

  • @bryanquick3349
    @bryanquick3349 2 года назад

    if you're going to make a sewer system and such, you'll want to make sure there's a lot of manholes, open drains, holes, sinkholes, caverns, wells, and other surface-level access points to connect the street to the sewers underneath. this will probably necessitate making the entire table in removable square sections, so that the lower sections are accessible (unless the idea is to create a 'skirt' of tunnels only around the outside of the table, in which case, that's fine.
    if an extensive sewer/cave system is planned for this build, you might consider making a cistern or other large open area under the table as well! perhaps supported by large columns and the like, with some standing water, that would allow for a large, underground space to game in.

    Awesome! The wizard tower should definately be standing in the middle of the table within the river. Maybe it was abbandoned and the villagers build some ramshackled bridges from both sides towards it. ... or the tower might as well be collapsed, over the river, which would work as another option to cross it.

    If you want sewers, you could do a multi-layered table with each layer removable. The way you have the foam setup atm could make it "easy" to do. Just do each "step" separately and removable so players using the sewers can move their minis and just put back the top afterwards.
    We do that for the inside of the buildings when we play Frostgrave and it opens up a lot of tactical play, cover, etc.!

Because of the channel in the middle and the sewers skaven are bound to be running around, and just thought it would add some fun detail if some of them are fishing.
