This is definitely better on other versions and the recorded version. I agree this has ruined your experience with what is a normally great vocal performance by them The album is actually great. One of my favourite albums. Trembling hands and sweet disposition are both bangers

Yeah you're right, don't know what happened with the mike but they sound much better normally. Check out their other songs from this album not live. Fader is another great song as well as Sweet Disposition but honestly there's a heap of great songs.
I love Temper Trap and this song, but the delay was annoying and the acoustics sounded really bad as well. I recommend listening to the album version, sounds a lot better. 👍👍
Temper Trap never sound quite right live. They only sound perfect on albums. He has a good voice, but he lacks control and consistency. He uses reverb and delay to cover his insecurity as much as for sonic reasons. It give him a feeling of support, so he doesn't feel too exposed.
I don't agree with this. I respect that it's your opinion but at the same time, I've seen them live and they actually surprised me because I wasn't expecting them to be so good live. And both songs of their triple J performance are really intimate vocally.

I just don't think Dougy is one of those singers who's live work measures up to his studio work. There are some singers who are better live than on recordings - like John Farnham, Irwin Thomas (Jack Jones), Matt Corby. But I don't want to rag on TT, because they're a great band.
@ThatSingerReactions Agreed, I hate overuse of reverb! This is a great band but their performance was diminished by the sound engineer's choices. I hope you'll seek out other better vids of their songs.

Jesus christ. This is one of my favourite songs but something has obviously gone very wrong with this performance.
Sweet disposition and trembling hands. Studio versions, not live. Yeah if you like those versions then try the live ones.
Such an awesome song and band, but I don't think this was the best version for you to hear given strange sound.

Yeah, i'm not a fan of whose engineering their live performances (he's also sounded out of tuned in other performances).
