- Today myself and @BubGames utilize an exploit that allows us to duplicate infinite money on Garry's Mod as we take on THE worst pay-to-win server and the biggest Gmod server that encourages paying to have an advantage over other players. In this video we duplicated the equivalent of $100,000 US dollars into a P2W Gmod economy, absolutely ruining it.

Pretty much every game has something in their EULA that prevents stuff like this, it’s just that nobody allocates the time to investigate or punish people in violation

These servers are a grime in Gmod
Not just AtomicRP. Their entire network as a whole sucks. They have DarkRP, TTT, Sandbox, etc.
Atomic is a great server, I’ve got some decent hours on GMOD and they’re pretty chill. Owner is chill

Atomic is stupid easy to exploit on. I've been regularly joining with printer ESP and raiding AFK bases for loot, then I just memory modify as I drop money and dupe it. Its so fucking stupid how easy it is to cheat the system.

I wonder if these schemes could be made more complicated to figure out for the admins by using scripts that intersperse the case trading with a bunch of inconsequential trades. I don't know how amenable gmod is to macros, but it seems like having a few set up to instantly execute actions would be desirable to finish things before being caught. Unless of course rapid macro actions trip a different detection mechanism.
Would also be curious to see what it would be like to combine tactics, have a third guy waiting in a room filled with props to crash the server with lag once admins start trying to take action.
This should be done in a week and not just 30 minutes so the admins don't get suspicious and rewind the server

Initial issues with the servers;
- Did not use the server as the one truth, and is using the client as a holder of information allowing two sessions to be out of sync
- The server should confirm the change and update any related client (I'd happily believe they are not doing many checks)
- Allowing the same account to be connected twice, this is such a simple check.
For the initial issue, I do wonder how much you could manipulate the clients data and it would still be saved on the server. Such rookie mistakes, see the same stupid stuff in many servers even in other games.

Your first two points are just wrong. You’ve got to remember the database server is external to the two “game servers” since both game servers have authority over the database it allows this exploit to happen. The client is never trusted with money in these cases. Your last point is true though.

You could script this whole process and completely fuck up this server by selling random cases on different days and handing them out to randoms on alt accounts. Doing it this way would make rolling back the server impossible. If you truly want to destroy these practices you must think way way bigger.

Best way to go about things is getting caches of dupped cases weeks before,this way even if the admins roll back the economy/server.

l just wonder, how in technical terms, you can fix this multirun situation?
1. Ensuring an account can be connected to at most one server in the server group would fix it easy.
2. Failing that, each transaction must use a separate protected server. At the start of each transaction, the separate server is contacted to update the current money, and the transaction changes the value stored on this server. This would defeat the duping strat in the final stage of the plan - the receiver of the money will get his money re-assigned by the protected server, so the money can't be doubled. This can be defeated through data racing, though it would require some extra thinking to defeat.
