lol love this. It was my mom’s fav too and I’m sure you could guess her fav line lol. Well it’s tied between Ripley and Bill Paxton’s character’s line 😂
The CGI actually was kind of bad IMO but i can tell some shots blended both CGI and practical effects. The scientist was so obviously cgi and it annoyed me so bad lol
David Jonsson was cold!! His transitions were flawless. First caught him on Industry (HBO) and Murder is Easy (Britbox). The movie definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. Yeah, that 3rd act though, I ain’t need it, but it was on brand. Alien is still the best one with this one falling in about 4th or 5th.
I agree on all accounts. There was a lot of effort put into the practical effects & giving you the nostalgic feel of the first two movies. The xenonorphs were terrifying & the face huggers were just plain creepy. The third act was crazy
Yeah,Andy stole every scene he was in and the upgrade he put in work. LOL. This Alien film was better than Prometheus and Alien: Convenant for me,much better.
Been waiting for this! It was fantastic!🤌🏾 I’m late to some of the Alien movies but THIS one was 🔥. David Jonsson killed his role. He was in Rye Lane, a black British rom-com flick with an indie vibe. He has so much range. Four and a half saxophones: 🎷🎷🎷🎷1/2
Tony! You CANNOT claim Freddy dingy sweater wasn’t scary! Clothed or not is all diabolical!!! I can’t wait to see Aliens Romulus-I was waiting for your review!!
That home movie rant is the truest. I love movie outings but I’m simple, I get my seats and know I need a #1 Combo with Bunch-A-Crunch or Butterfingers. Seats reserved and I can hit my seat right on time. My wife always hold me up with all the hot food order. Now I’m waiting for them to heat up food while she’s already sitting comfortably not paying attention to the first 5-10 minutes I done missed. 😢
@@Cheeks730 It was trying to be serious. Well, it was with the Unrated Cut. It was a totally different tone, the kills were more visceral, and not the PG-13 take that the Theatrical Cut was. We also got a better dynamic between Sanaa Lathan's character and the lone surviving Yautja (Predator).
Freddy has a sweater on!!🤣🤣🤣 Xenomorphs are scary as hell!! Great review!! I enjoyed the movie, they went back to the original reasons why we love the franchise. ❤
How did I not know they were Xenomorphs lol 😂 now this stuck in my head. Of course it’s never a quick in an out. I’m glad to hear it’s another group of good actors. Great review again Tony 🙌🏾
This was SOOOOOOOO AWESOME in 4DX!!!! Looking forward to hearing your perspective because I grew up watching the Alien franchise and I thoroughly enjoyed this film overall. ANDY👏🏾 WAS 👏🏾THE 👏🏾MAN!!!
I dosed off 3x. That ac was on 65, with a reclining chair. I caught myself the 3rd time and got tough. It was a 4/5, that whatchacalln was a reach, but i loved it too
I feel like Prometheus was made to create branches in the lore. It very much opened up the franchise to more stories. Romulus wouldn’t have been as good as it was if not for Prometheus.
A rare movie that I walked out after telling people in line you need to see this movie! For me it Ranks #3 in franchise! Tony Tony Tony done, done it again!
I’m with you Tony. I Love the Aliens franchise, and Aliens is my absolute favorite sci-fi movie. Loved the characters and character development of the Colonia Marines. Aliens the movie was a head of its time.
Tony, first off you're the best my brotha. Love all that you do. Second, this 10+ min review of Alien:Romulus (and the whole Alien franchise) absolutely nails my feelings...1,000%. I've stood on Aliens being "my" greatest sci-fi movie of all time, and have Alien:Romulus as my new '2nd place' in the series. BTW, David Jonsson (Andy) absolutely killed it in his performance in A:R...agreed!
I’m glad this one is a redeeming film for the franchise. I was all in on the movies, comics, books and toys. I’m anxious to go see this. Ima need that squeak back on your chair though.
You're ranking is almost identical to mine. Except I put Resurrection ahead of Alien 3. AvP series is its own separate thing. Romulus was amazing and I loved every second of it. I did love that we got to see the gestation from chest burster to full grown Xenomorph. We had never seen it before. I always just assumed they kept shedding their skin until fully grown. Didn't even think they cocooned up.
Nothing will ever top Tony Baker's voice over the zinomorph with the grill ....Tony i need it on a shirt me an my girl went threw hours of voice overs looking for it 🔥.
That third act was wild Tony. Caught me off guard. I knew something was gone happened but I thought an alien was gone sneak into the ship. That twisted was insane.
I loved it! the concept of a neurodivergent-presenting cybernetic was really dope to see.....and the 3rd act was some wild shit I feel like to dig at the prometheus haters 😂 that movie was well done I love this franchise.... might see it again tonite ;)
I went yesterday & seen it @ 10:05am I was the only 1 in there lol 😂 loved that tho 🤣I was looking around 2 make sure them face huggers wasn’t in there 👀
So I was expecting this to be scarier since it was hyped but I agree it was good. Now that human xenomorph was not needed I would have preferred a queen pop out lol
When I was watching Romulus & the first chestburster scene reminded me of your voiceover with the grillz 🤣 from Alien. This movie was awesome, David Johnson did amazing as a caring AI & totally different when he gets that new chip.
Nice review. I'm also in the camp that think Aliens and Big Trubbs are the best movies ever made. The Thing and Blade Runner come a close 3 and 4. Romulus was great. The perfect organism is back!
I’m all in Tony. Aliens is my favorite movie. It’s been a long time since I looked forward to seeing an Alien film. The Xenos are killing machines, they come in different forms depending on what they bond with. Crazy. Good review. Ranking: Aliens Aliens Aliens Aliens Alien 🤷🏽♂️
I am a 52 year old black woman and Aliens is my favorite movie also. I watch it every time it comes on cable.
lol love this. It was my mom’s fav too and I’m sure you could guess her fav line lol. Well it’s tied between Ripley and Bill Paxton’s character’s line 😂
The CGI for the space scenes were so amazing!
That was practical effects - didn’t you see the director saying this.
The cinematography in scenes were well done as well
The CGI actually was kind of bad IMO but i can tell some shots blended both CGI and practical effects. The scientist was so obviously cgi and it annoyed me so bad lol
@Alr1ghtyThen bro you need to stop watching movies

This one is probably the 3rd best in the whole franchise after Alien and Aliens. This movie was such a good time
I slick want to see it in theaters again
I agree on all accounts. There was a lot of effort put into the practical effects & giving you the nostalgic feel of the first two movies. The xenonorphs were terrifying & the face huggers were just plain creepy. The third act was crazy
The CGI on Rook was horrible though
I was hooked from beginning to end 🙌🏾
My 12 yr old daughter looooves your movie reviews! She says she doesn’t want to watch a movie if Mr. Tony hasn’t seen it first ❤🎉
Aliens 1986 is one of my favs too.
David Jonsson killed it as Andy the synthetic he turnt up after that upgrade
Yeah,Andy stole every scene he was in and the upgrade he put in work. LOL. This Alien film was better than Prometheus and Alien: Convenant for me,much better.
@user-be7tc2bd6e Yeah the best Alien movie since Aliens 👌🏿
@@chination1796 AGREED.
Big Trouble in Little China stays on my annual play list. Along with National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. 😂 Such nostalgic movies for me.
Man!!! Agreed!!
Agreed 👍🏽
South African fan right here sir. Sending love. 🙏🏾✊🏾
Man I was always more scared of the Facehuggers than the Xenomorphs.
I don't do scary movies, etc, but I'm just here to support you. Tone😂
This. (Although, I do enjoy scary movies….)
I’m not a movie buff at alllll. I just be tryna run dem numbers up.
@thadutchess08 that’s too bad we would’ve enjoyed it. 😏
😂😂😂
Neither do I, anymore. I used to, but coming back home and keeping the lights on through the night for days after I knew it was time to give it up 😂

I refuse to accept AVP 1 slander! The movie did its job.
The Theatrical Cut was trash, but the Unrated Cut, now we're talking.

Great review Bro. I would go all out and it the entire 5/5. I'm not easily entertained, this one knocked it out of the park.
