I was starting to get worried! I need my daily dose of Northridgefix repair 💉
FINALLY!! Been waiting for a new video to come from NRF - thanks!!
And here it goes... New episode of N.F video,. 😂
😂Alex is a homeowner now.
He has a growing honey-do list
@@newvillage3 ahhh yes... The never-ending honey-do list. 😊
It always makes me happy when you smile after fixing something. I mean that's something you do every day and still get the joy of it. Sign of truly loving your job. Cheers mate I always watch the repairs and I don't even do it lol
Ive had a MSI for almost 6 years . I really think most of these shorts are from end users errors and/or over clocking.
I cant fathom how so many fail in the same way and their hasnt been any litigation brought against those pc manufacturers.
This maybe a bit forward, is it possible for you to run a small survey on next set of laptops?
"Did you over clock your PC?"
If majority are "yes" it could explain why they dont get the warranty.
Awesome video as always .
As a computer tech since the 80's you have my upmost respect and admiration for telling the truth about laptops.
I would also add that warranty techs get paid a fixed price per laptop so make sure they don't cut corners where on-premises field service repair is done, which is always module replacement.
I look forward to the day you get to work on a Framework brand laptop.
Yes am waiting too...
Whats the best laptop that can a man buy ? A strong laptop to use it for everything and to not change it after couple of years .
@@napst3r1mac , because of the software, anything with windows and it's try to update itself would end in blue screen 😂
Welcome Back! Great job as always! All the best.
Great diags as usual, quick and neat! Keep up the good work Alex..
The capacitor industry has a lot to answer for!
It’s more than just that.
Great to have you back
love your videos ! Hope you and Family are enjoying your well deserved new home.. Best to you
ALWAYS IMPRESSED with your expertise. 💻
God bless you for your standing teaching, Alex! Always being amazed at your rate of fixing board failures, but, even more, at your capacity to choose the capacitor of right spec! Is it just a matter of experience (and expertise) or are you using a secret trick?
@ 2:36
Yyeeaahhhh.... but as everyone knows, they ALWAYS fail outside of whatever warranty coverage you purchase. If you purchase 2 years, it will fail in 2yrs & 3 months.... if you purchase 10yrs, it will fail in 10yrs & 4 months....
Whatever standard warranty they come with, you can rest assured that the designer already knows exactly how long they built it to last for, and they will offer a warranty just shy of that fail window!
Good to see video again.. Thank you
My 2006 Dell Inspiron running Windows 7 is still going strong
*That's back when DELL still built solid, beautiful, enterprise quality laptops. Love that beige, ceramic-looking finish. W7 still rocks!*
2004 IBM ThinkPad T42P used nearly every day still operates. Harddisk changed after 10 years and two times cleaning and thermal paste.😁
Finally another upload! I was starting to get worried about you 😂
Go on ...the maestro of short circuit with thermal camera ❤
Hello, good bye bad guy!!! Nice job Alex! We have missed you and so happy for a new video!!
You're always an inspiration.
Nice glad to see another video
Nice video. I always like watching these videos. Take Care and Blessings
Good Job Alex.... finally you cam back thinks work is unstable even here in italy.....am agree with you about life of laptop for this new one.... but before 2006.. before RoHS Directive..... some good brand there wose like Fujitsu, Hyundai...and few more than start the programmed obsolescence.. bye Francesco Timpano from Florence Italy
Buying warranty is a horrible idea. You'll pay as much for the warranty as the average repair, and there are always deductibles on extended warranties that generally cost nearly as much as having it repaired; so in the end, warranty typically costs double what the average repair costs. It is better to just accept that hardware fails and protect your data in such a way you can migrate to a new machine easily.
Thank you for your videos
Nicely done 👍
Well come back Alex!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think people mean which brand of laptop do you repair the least.
I remember asking the same question to a breakdown mechanic, he said he's never had to tow a McLaren P1. Does this make them the most reliable car, no of course not. Just means there are less of them in the streets. But then laptops are roughly all in the similar ballpark of 1k to 2k.
yeap, got the same problem with my new rog laptop few years ago, just received and use it only for few weeks and then no power even with power brick connected, luckily was still in the warranty period
Good job man
Alex returns 😁
Awesome, bad guy out, good guy in, Big boss touch👍
Hi can you explain and demonstrate how do you work with your microscope!!!
The reason im asking is im confused to buy look through microscope or the one you using which you just work and looking through monitor!
Much appreciated
Big hello from Australia
Cheers
Reza
I just bought nf mini and a ps5 hdmi port and made my own Hiroshima... ordering was easy. Shipped out that day. Great quality components. If only you offered soldering skills, I'd be set! Lol
I think it is more important to never adopt a laptop that is known to have failures. But I did helped fixed the firmware issue by making a comparison between two different firmware of the same make and model.
You made my day
Please tell us what meter do you use .
Thanks for the new video.
Say Hello to big boss as well.
Happy Ramadan. 😊
Asus ROG laptops and repairs! Name a more iconic duo.
Where do you get your head mic from alex??
Can you tell me which circuit diagram do you use?
Well done excellent 👏
Why did the board shorted... Tell us to prevent laptops to fail
I've been using my old Toshiba's for many years without any problems. There still are statistics showing which ones fail more often, I did take them into consideration when I bought my devices. Used to be better with the Japanese and the Taiwanese ones + Dell, but I haven't followed these statistics in the last few years. Anyways, you can't really buy a Japanese one now, most followed the Dodo way.
Have a ROG and not a fan. They make the keyboard so that the print rubs off in a short time which will void the warranty. After getting it fixed, I've had the ROG twice as long and the replacement keyboard shows no signs of wear at all.
acer inspire with ryzen 5000 is my latest buy and it damn good for 600bucks
Awesome ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
King of short
What do you suggest for those who do not afford thermal camera? Freeze spray works?
For Sure…
Where ya been man!
Was getting worried that something was wrong. No video for a long while. I guess the new house is time-consuming! :D
At last I got my fix!
You got Northridge fixed
IM NEW BUT I ENJOY YOUR VIDEOS KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK 👍 👌
The last ASUS laptop I bought was an X53S and it failed epically with a dead Sata chip, I ran the laptop for years off the USB3 port, currently I have a Lenovo Ideapad that is currently 5+ years old and still going strong
Better than Factory
After few days new video
You thought you didn't need big boss but you were wrong.
Everything will fail - sooner or later, thats why I do buy maximum lenght warranty available. 2 years by default, due that Lenovo will grab my money to extend my laptop warranty for extra 2 years (onsite repair). Laptop were 1.5 years old when I started to notice it getting hot (Ryzen 7/5800H with 3070 8G), opened to clean, only to find that heatpipe top of the GPU were ruptured and pushed all its contents to motherboard. And as cooling were failing, GPU got hot and started to act...
Thanks to warranty, repair person visited home on next day and replaced entire heatpipe / cooling plate and motherboard (inc cpu & gpu)...
Lenovo Legion 5 Pro 16" - not replacing anytime soon as finding laptop with replaceable memory starts to be a hard.... And finding any with soldered 64G is next to impossible, or pricey as hll... And often those have only single M2 slot too, or soldered ssd.
You buy the warranty but will the company stand behind it ??????
great video!
Wow who is back 😂😂😂
Great like always❤🫡
nice
I had a Gigabyte laptop failed within warranty , got the thing back and sold it immediately, better to get a mini pc if you can because the laptops run so hot , especially for gaming .
Yeah, people who ask such questions does not really make sense. Just buy both. I play games on computer and work on my laptop.
I spend $500 on a pc (x99+e5-2697v3+rx 6600 xt) and $210 on a used i7 gtx 960 laptop. It's been 4 years and never break once.
If your laptop is running too hot when gaming then they didn't do a good job with the paste application and you didn't bother undervolting either. Laptops shouldn't run over 80 degrees in most games.
@@Kezmarkthe consumer does not have a choice. Triple-A games takes 70-90c on ultra settings. They are stuck to play esports games or forced to play triple-A games on medium-high settings.
High-end gpu laptops are only for marketing purposes
@@Kezmark I play games on silent mode even when using ultimate gpu temp is 68 to 70 i mostly use igpu yes on silent mode temp on that is 65 degree both modes make no noise fan is almost zero i dont care about fps but yes i do care about noise and heat.
Asus shorted
Every device fails. Not just Asus laptops. Some last longer than others. Sometimes it's cheaper to replace (especially if the device is very old) but other times, Alex turns it into something that's better than factory.
Great Job
Playing games on high performance may break the laptop as it takes too much power too much noise and too much heat i usually play on silent mode even when on ultimate gpu mostly use igpu silent mode fps dont matter to me what matters is less heat and less noise fps addicts should learn this and not abuse their laptop.
lmao ive had DELL 5577 for i want to say 5 or 6 yrs now. I gamed on it, using a monitor and keyboard and mouse. The laptop just sat there as the work horse and always closed. I never used the laptop keyboard ever and its still like new. I never had a issue at all with this laptop , the only thing , is that gpu gtx1050 isn't recognized at all. Its like it was never there and this is after i uninstalled my own version of windows and the oem. Id recommend Dell gaming laptops
Dell is one of the worst companies defective product
Haters gonna hate.
@@rd2dab no not haters it is true
@rabbi619 it's true in your head! You must be a Democrat huh. I literally, if i was in front of you would prove you wrong. And then laugh at you. My Dell 5577 laptop is still going strong 7 yrs later. NEXT !!!
👌👌👍👍
❤
asus laptops shorted caps, what's new?
ACER IS THE BEST LAPTOP FOR ME 😅, I have this laptop. for 13 years? hahaha also my father's laptop is Acer that around 15 years old the screen broke but the board itself still working hahaha
Best is when the seller doubles the price just for a name . Right alex ?
2:30 - Lenovo laptops will fail? Try telling that to my 15-year-old Thinkpad R61. I can't kill that thing. 😂
That is amazing does it get hot while gaming
Laptops fail but which one has the highest repair rate or could easily be repaired 🤔
demagnetising your twisers.
Damn bro you sound super angry all the time.
Thermal pad and copper foil plastics
Even me here😢
assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh bro
Sad rog top❤❤❤
Bugger l didn't pick the problem,l will have to give myself a upcut and hopefully l don't knock myself out 😮😮
If you game, build a desktop. These gaming laptops seem to be so unreliable, and users who keep them on beds etc. does not help with the failures at all.
I keep my one on bed only when browsing while gaming i keep it on a book
Hello !bad guy!
السلام عليكم
رمضان مبارك كل عام وانتم بخير
Another laptop saved from the dumpster.
better then factory
Do you see what IC 😁😉
We need to learn something new
Asus laptops like playing games to Alex
#670 👍
Asus usually fails because it is buyed a lot and usually it is very abused in games.
abused like what
Asus and warranty doesn't go well together.
buy Framework laptop, this is the only one that not yet come to his shop
Yeah because there is bugger all of them out in the wild.
You've been quiet.
Happy and healthy Ramadans.. I think it’s the reason why we are seeing less videos than usual.
At the company i work, we all use high performance HP laptops company size is about 350 employees.
Using Autodesk and design applications that use a lot of cpu/gpu power and we only have about 2-3 failing laptops a year.
These are laptops with High end cpu and gpu cads.
To say all laptops brands fail is not fair and you should take your words back!
"Which laptop should I buy? None, they all fail". Straight talk, all rubbish.
كل عام و انتم جميعا بخير ..
