Going to try this and Copilot to test them against trips I've already planned and new ones! I'll add in the prompt that I want to cap each day at no more than 250-300 miles. I'll post a result.

I never thought of using AI to help with planning a trip. It’s genius! I do use HDs ride planner for ideas and that with google maps to figure out what roads and routes to use. I will be using AI to help with a trip im planning to Watkins Glen, NY and possibly the Northbound Moto campout in WV.

This is the exact video I've been needing to watch. I took my first solo bike trip last year from Buffalo to Nashville to meet up with the LAB crew and East through the tail well into NC before heading back home. It turned out good with almost no planning but I knew i got extremely lucky. I needed to know how all of you channels plan it amazing trips all the time.
I never thought of AI and will use it for another meetup with L.A.B. this June to Salt Fork Lodge East of you and figure out what else to ride to in that region. Thanks Jess!

My favorite route planning tip is to arrive at the hotel by 4pm. Take a quick nap, shower, explore dinner options, and walk around downtown. And then i try to be on the road when the morning twilight starts. Trying to get the most of miles in in the cool morning temps are far easier. This one tip made the days along multi day rides so much more fun and enjoyed the towns ive stayed in.

By golly, this is the first thing I've seen done with AI that actually makes sense to me. AI is generally so inaccurate that it borders on useless, but planning trips isn't about accuracy, it's about an adventure. So what if it sends you on a wild goose chase, that's the idea! Actually, this is awesome.

I use the HD planner all the time, however a few tips, add extra waypoints to force your bike to keep to the route you want otherwise if you miss a turn it will revert back to the quickest route, also zoom in and make sure your waypoint is one road and on the right side. One thing to remember, when you send that route to your bike it will split it up into separate rides depending on the location, which works for your example as thats a route for each day. I would also add scenic stops as WAYPOINTS, this ensures you don't miss them but don't break you daily routes up.
I have never tried the ChatGPT but will def give it a try next time I do a route.

My first long solo trip 11 years ago was from Halifax, Nova Scotia down the East Coast USA to Florida, over to Nashville, up North into Ontario and back. 35 days, over 10,000 kms, and solo. RUclipsrs like Her Two Wheels were my primary source of preparation). I don’t think I was as prepared as you are. Basically had no route; just followed secondary roads that said “South” on the way there and “North” on the way back. Every night I would look at a map and write possible road numbers on the back of my hand. No GPS ) It was wonderful and freeing. Best 2 pieces of advice I got back then and believe is true is 1 - don’t plan on daily destinations or book accommodations; rather ride with time (for me, on the road by 9 AM and start looking for a cheap place to stay at 3 PM) and 2 - wear a camelback.

Dude/Bro- I love this!! I'm a solo rider normally... BUT, I mentioned to some buddies my plan for a trip to Colorado in June. Now, got me plus 4… LOL Your video just showed me a great way to research and plan with the Chat GPT.
I’ve used the Harley planner app in the past, not a big fan on the transition to the bike after the laptop planning.
I’ve been using google maps and Riser; I’ll give your suggestion a go- everyone that’s riding has a touring bike so I can share the file with them to load onto their bikes… this way, if I get sick of not being solo, they know where to go!! 😂😂😂 ( joking, kinda)
    Yet again, great content!!

Good video ❤ - what I do, is I take as many hi-lighted roads in the Hog Book as possible, I set my gps to scenic, punch in the town wherever the start of that roadway is, get there, then bust out that road - like heading to Front Royal to start the Blue Ridge Parkway or like TX ranch road 336 for the twisted sisters or here near my house on the Kangamangus Highway in NH. Then I bust out the road and punch in the starting town of the next scenic road way. It’s been 10 years now, and I only am missing Joshua Tree and DV, and Thunder Bay to Vancouver Island, and the Alaska Loop 😅 - I plan on busting those out this year. I just sold my road glide for a goldwing, we shall see if she holds her own just as good as the glide did? 🤪

Love this video. Especially for the winter when I do a lot of my riding planning for the year. I will definitely try this out. A winter tip I would like to give to you deals with your car. I too have a stick shift truck that sits outside. It is so brutal to drive those first few miles to work when the wheel and stick are so cold and you are shifting so, so much before hitting the interstate. Gloves are just too bulky (no feel) and then when the heat comes up, your hands are sweating. I now wear my summer motorcycle gloves. Just enough separation from the cold surfaces. Great road feel. Hands won't sweat. I also have these two vents that blow right on my hands. It keeps my hands from getting burn while I have things on full blast to get the cabin warm.

I camp out most nights.(free on national forest land) I never know where I'm going. I've been trying to get lost for a long time now. I may try the AI if I ever figure out where I want to go. Thanks for the info. Keep to the back roads and stay safe.

@HerTwoWheels I just tried one on a route I just rode, and I can see where I need to tweak it. Thanks so much for the tip!

Must be seeing spring! I too am planning. One trip from NW ND to Kokomo to see my sister! Looking at meandering through Wisconsin and Mackinaw, Michigan then south to Indiana. Maybe southern loop back. Will check out the HD app … thanks!

Interesting. 😆 I'm still the old school guy who just hops on Google and Google Maps to check out sights to see, roads to ride on and places to stay and/or eat. 😂
Guess this option is less time consuming. 😂

Never tried chat gpt as a planner. Going to check it out. If you ever make it up north come check out Harley-Davidson of Edmonton.

Wonderful information as I’m planning a ride with my teanage daughter , The ride is one I know well but to show her the route and times I feel like I can reduce a lot of her concerns if she knows the route and stops well in advance so she can relax and enjoy the ride . Thanks for what you do you help us riders 😎👍

Never knew you could do that with ChatGPT. There’s a part of me that loves slamming long mileage days but I do like to get off the big road every now and then.
For this summer I’m kind of torn. A part of me would like to take a couple extra days in Sturgis before the rally and that would limit a long trip for me. So maybe I’ll just take my RV down to somewhere around Cherokee, NC and hit up the great roads around the smokies. Or maybe I’ll just do like last year, take a week off work and spend 5 days in Sturgis then do a 10 day trip on the bike. Would like to head to Reno again (hopefully not blowing up my bike’s motor this time) and then head north out of there across northeastern CA and Oregon before working my way back towards South Bend, IN
