Cinemagraphs are a fun feature of the SIGMA fp camera's Ver. 2.00 firmware upgrade that allow for clever juxtaposition of still and moving elements in a standard video file. I just watched 'sin-sin', and it's a wonderful film. Thank you. It popped up saying "short film" so I expected it to be 5-8min, but the rhythm and dramaturgy were so compelling that I watched it through straight away

This is awesome! Not only it is a really cool effect, being able to do it in camera is fantastic!!! Great job Sigma! There are a number of relatively affordable adapters you can find via Amazon that will convert your E mount lens to fit L!

Source material should be mov, right?

Source material can be Cinema DNG as well -- whatever can be recorded internally -- but the exported cinemagraph will always be MOV.

They may be able to improve upon it slightly via firmware, but they are using a contrast detect system, which essentially means there’s only so much better they can make it vs phase detect systems more commonly found in Sony and Canon bodies
