When I was a teen in the '60's (I'm 70 now) we took a family vacation to FL and stopped by Siver Springs to tour the place and take the glass bottom boat ride. It was neat and we all enjoyed it.
Thanks for sharing your experience! Wonderful to hear this attraction has been long standing :) It was probably super inexpensive to ride the boat back then!
I was there about 60 years ago and they told us that Sea Hunt, a TV show starting Lloyd Bridges was shot right at the dock where the water was shallow and the electric cables were short. He always wore a wet suit because the water was like ice.
I have been there several times over the years. As a child, visiting with grandparents, as an adult, taking my mother and my siblings and in-laws, and on vacations alone. I used to love to spend all day in there. It has changed drastically over the years, but I have not been there since it became a state park in 2013. I do look forward to going back and spending a day there. I realize it will be different but still is a special place. It is a relative ghost town in comparison to the hey days of earlier times. Boats used to ride literally thousands of passengers on the weekends. But, things change. People change. Still a special place. Thank you for the video and your great commentary.
@@rspro575 hey thanks so much for sharing your fond memories of Silver Springs. Wow, that's awesome that you experienced it during it's heydays. The place has so much history. Just the parking lot size gave us an idea how popular it was back in the days. Thank YOU for finding my video! My parents really enjoyed this special place :)
That looks like an amazing experience! Such a beautiful nature. Would love to visit to make some video for our channel too but I guess we have to wait a few more months.
We were down that way early in 2000. We we're here, Cypress Gardens and the mermaid shows. Was this the place that had several wooden boardwalks going out through the woods? There was a safari at one of the parks too. I fed giraffes.
Thanks for sharing your memories. Not sure if Silver Springs had wooden boardwalks back then but I know many of the springs and state parks have boardwalks through the woods. Thanks for watching :)

How long are the glass bot rides? All day or like 30 minutes?

What is the cost of parking? Boat tour?
Parking was free. Boat tour when we went was $12 for adults. $11 for children 6-12. Hope that helps.
