- Euro NCAP Frontal Impact takes place at 64 Km/h, 40% of the width of the car striking a deformable barrier. In the Full Width test, 100% of the width of the car impacts a rigid barrier at 50 Km/h. In the side impact, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door at 50 km/h. In the pole test, the car tested is propelled sideways at 32 km/h into a rigid pole.

Wouldn't it be more pertinent to have a crash test where the car drives into a pole (like they crash into trees and signs etc in real life) instead of into a solid wall?

why the front airbag come out in pole test
If they could keep those damn front airbags, especially the passenger airbag, from coming out in the pole test it would look all good! The front offset, full frontal, and side impact tests all looked good. But I don't know why the passenger airbag came out in the pole test when it didn't come out in the full frontal test. Both times there was no passenger in the front passenger seat.

+Nick Cobden There are plenty of cars on sale in the UK that haven't been tested by EURO NCAP. It's not a legal requirement.

Is the Kia Niro also known as the Kia 'Sportage' in the U.S. ? It looks very similar.

Thanks Gustavo - I was hoping they were the same platform as the crash test video clip was probably the best test I've ever seen for a small SUV. The Niro appears to be really really solid in these particular set of tests so I was hoping the Sportage was built the same as I'm looking at getting one soon. Thanks again.
