      I wouldn't go calling Architecture a career for people who are 'like everybody else' I'm currently studying architecture. And the architects I've met, the lecturers (who are also practicing architects) and the rest of the students in my course are all completely mental and off the wall.
      I think it's fantastic, I think it's about finding ways to incorporate hobbies and interests into your work. And I mean what's stopping you from going home at night and hacking for pleasure? Nothing :)

    • @niory
      @niory 9 лет назад +5

      Gerard Byrne It was like that too for me when I was still a student ! where we had all the freedom to do what we really thought was right ! but now as a graduate it's no longer about me ! I just work in an office with so much stress and have to repress my thoughts and my honest opinions and just do what the my boss wants me to do and draw ! we draw projects for money stupid projects ! projects that suck the life out of me ! when I am back home which is around 10pm I only have time to take a bath and sleep ! I do not know where you are from but I hope Architecture will be more of a joy for you ! I really do ...

      shaibi jan ah yeah ! tell me about it ! you know whats really funny ! When I was still an Architect student we found out that the only reason why our teachers gave us the freedom to design freely was because they were also stealing our ideas and applying them in their own project! and If they came upon a talented student they will ask them to work for them and suck their talents dry ! till he is nothing but a zombie !seriously we need to change the future !

      Cole Slaw When everyone say "why?" Great innovators have always said "Why not?"(I'm not a great innovator BTW)
      Hackers are obviously strategic thinkers who also think outside the box. Researchers(my wife is one) are generally left brained, process minded people. A cure for cancer is allusive because the cancer hides itself from our immune system. Sense hackers are great at bringing down the defensives of highly secure technologies, why can't their methods be incorporated with that of researchers.
      Crazier things have been done.
      When RIM dominated the smartphone industry with the Blackberry, who knew a phone with just a clear screen and no buttons would change the industry.

    • @Raylet2
      @Raylet2 9 лет назад +3

      xbb1024 It really depends on the people, I just don't think many of them are interested. We have 40 students and a total of 2 women, no on hassles them just many don't seem interested in technology. Then again maybe I'm stereotyping right now :\

      Why do females have to choose something just because "too many" men are doing it? Good lord I'm sick of this whole gender argument bull crap. Women aren't oppressed. If they haven't figured out that they can do anything they want, then that is their own problem. If they have figured out that they can, and they choose to not do IT, then it isn't some major problem that requires millions of hours to brainwash females into doing IT.

    The good thing is that even though it's a scary possibility that you could be hacked, the reality is that unless you make hacker enemies or are an important person, you're probably fine.
    *Edit:* As I'm getting a lot of comments about this, it's good to mention that in order to stay safe you should have some kind of antivirus software, and you should be very careful about the links you click on. But most spam and other bad stuff is easily identifiable. So again, if you're careful you should be _pretty much_ safe.

If you notice as he's reading the credit cards from people in the audience he says "we bitched at amex about this an they fixed xxx", because of people like him who help make things like this known problems get solved.

      Watch the video again (a few more times if necessary). You'll probably change your mind about locking him up unless you have a predisposition for keeping captives that is so strong it overrides reason.

      I am not following you. A guy who think he can see what you watch on your hotel by listening to an infrared receiver aka photo diode? He seem to have some concepts but missing the details. Reading your card number using a computer is not hacking, the number is printed on the card that he is holding in his hand. As a matter of fact the CVV is printed on the card, but is not in the data. You can do card not present transactions if you have the CVV, and address in the US, but need to do a challenge response to the card to do a card present transaction which he did not and cannot demonstrate. One of the car keys that was in the photo I know for a fact used rolling codes, so the code can only be used once (practically), so replay attacks do not apply. These are pretty long codes that cannot be guessed and can only be transmitted once per second, so you have 3600 codes per hour out of billions to guess. No one code works for all. Most of what he talks about looks like stuff he has heard, or people he knows, not first hand experience, unless he just chose poor examples. Yes all those things are Crack able one way or another, but most not viable or useful. Malaria sounds interesting but one little detail again is missing, the energy of the laser falls exponentially over distance, which is why we do not have lasers burning intruders, terrorists, or prey animals on farms of farmers or governments who can afford much more than a Playstation. It is interesting thoughts, but not very useful... Other than in movies.

      BUT ITS EASY! Everybody knows to hammer on these kind of locks. The pins just kinda - by ACCIDENT, hit the sweet spot, but i thought it was good as an ilustration. How easy it really is. Locksmiths ALWAYS use this tool first - with their picks. Even on youtube theres videos how you do it. But great as illustration
