I really enjoyed this video. I have an original 1842 US Horse pistol in .54 cal. These pistols were smoothbores and were loaded with an unpatched ball using a paper cartridge which was rammed down on top of the ball as wadding. The 40 grain charge is a bit stiff, but certainly proved the pistol is in fine working condition. I am wondering if you took the gun apart and cleaned the bore, lock & trigger internals before you shot it to make it work more smoothely ?
Thanks for your comments and information. I did clean the gun but did not disassemble the lock mechanism. I ran a camera down the bore and it is pretty rough but I sorta expected that. My initial firing was holding it under that table, hoping it wouldn't explode. it seems to be fine, but probably will never shoot it again.
ну так если судить с тактики современного боя то да, а когда и противник имеет тоже самое, то тут тактика боя другая. А вообще это оружие обороны. И не забываем, что первая половина 19 века это еще холодное оружие.
Beautiful 1836 .54 caliber pistol.
All I can think of is... John Candy. I can perfectly imagine John Candy playing either part.
I guess the conversion makes sense, brass caps are easier to make than flint is to find. I mean, you ever try finding flint? It's very hard!

Tenho uma, quero vender!
9" high at 5 foot, might need the sights set, sure would not like to be hit by it, safest place might be in front.
Beautiful
Got it in the end boys 😂

Пока заряжать будешь, 40 раз убьют. Уж лучше лук и стрелы.
