In my life of 22 years, I have never been this shocked by flood in my district. This is the worst second to the flood in 1994. Hope the rain will cease soon. Even groceries and food has hiked up in unthinkable prices because there is no way for supplies to come in as all roads connecting our district to other parts of Assam and all has been blocked and roads are all destroyed with loss of life. Only air way is there but due to flood and recurring rain, way to airport is also blocked with water.
Union government neglected Assam since Independence. Ministers only paid visit before elections and people without any shame voted too. Things have changed a lot, BJP has given due importance to this part than any other government. Flood is a natural calamity we can't completely avoid it, but with adequate scientific measures and corporation by both Union and state it can be reduced to a large extent. No high mountains, no bigger trees holds the water, no water canal to concentrate waters to flow directly to the ocean or to the sea, I think the government should take projects allowing people to plant trees, fruit trees, even in backyard farming so that there something who holds the water and stop or at least minimize erosions, from the lowest part of the government should take and impulse project planting trees this is the only way to cure the soil for eroding during heavy rains

The only reason behind assam floods is very simple the govt has not allowed to dig the brahmaputra river and every year this river brings tons and tons of sand and silt from tibet hills and deposit it here in the plains of assam which results in rise of the river bed and because of this during monsoons excesive rain water does not get drained out which causes flood so untill and unless the river bed is dug deep flood in assam is inevitable
