I too was trying not to die in stage 4... and this is just from watching you and hearing you pep talk yourself... That's a real push... I can only imagine how you managed to hold on...
Awesome stuff! A few moments there where I got scared you were gonna crash, but you saved them extremely well. Also for all the people talking about face reveals, Dave did a face reveal like a year ago lol
Aww man....this has got to be my favorite YTer race, yet! I know this was a tough one if DD, has to encourage himself so much! Had to laugh at, "talking to myself so I don't die!" Awesome run, DD, great to see JB make the group Top 3 as well. Good to see you without a helmet for a change, DD! Whistler is an absolutely incredible place to ride a bicycle, without question.
Mate your self motivation and encouragement is bloody inspiring! We could all be more positive and empowering to ourselves, I think it's easy in today's world to forget that. Amazing work man, well done.
I just started watching your videos and they are very relaxing and wholesome I know it's a lot of work for you to do the biking but as someone who is constantly sick in bed it is very helpful and relaxing for me to watch.
I was initially very impressed with your technical skills and balance on crazy skinnies and such... to see that you can also go fast down all this is also incredible!
my favourite part is probably all the self motivational talking. it's so nice and wholesome to listen too. The riding is ofcourse really fun to watch also!
Who’s the fastest RUclipsr? Well, I think a certain compadre of yours might have had something to say about the final result had he competed. Then again, can he be called a RUclipsr anymore? He hasn’t posted in a few weeks. Ribbing aside, great ride Dave. You are a little hard on yourself when it comes to fitness but, truth be told, you are still a very fit dude, and your skill is obviously elite. I also want to congratulate you on the production value of this upload. I really liked it… especially your voiceover work. Well done all round.
Amazing riding Dave! the only thing I could say is learn to focus and control your breath the short in and out and the big exhales increase your heart rate which brings more fatigue. focus on the big inhales the outs will come. your heart will slow and you can save energy... You are an awesome rider.
I disagree on this technique, but to each his own. Check out this Rickson Gracie clip about breathing and control at the 5:25 mark. Amazing info! ruclips.net/video/iIGu2ggjsWI/видео.html
Great Riding Dave I rode down an intense escarpment on a Xduro Nduro Pro Haibike two months ago I'm scared of heights so for me this was a challenge I reached 52 mph and its changed my perspective 100% I didn't use my brakes once I was to scared to! So watching this was food for me! Cheers dude!
I'd already seen the other videos, so I guess the WINNER can post his when he damn well please :) Great job Dave. Talk Dale into joining you next year.
Wow! Fantastic!! I can't imagine how much skill is required to ride that fast while maneuvering through rocks, stumps, tree roots, hair pin turns and etc., and still have to avoid random bikers!
Dave, just a note to tell you that me and my two little shredders-in-training (9 and 10yrs old boy and girl) love your videos all, the way from Brisbane in Australia. My lad loves yr nickname and wants something similar when he is older. 😀 when I told him he had to constantly shred north shore steeps he wasn't AS desperate for a nickname. great video.
From watching most of yous religiously.... Best all round... VanCan. Solid and Building Stuff... BCPOV. Lunatic... Yuka. Jumper... Boostmaster. And his buddy. Tech and Gnar... Dale Stone. Trials and Picnic Tables... Dangerous Dave. Content and All Round Solid.... Ryan Loam Ranger. Need to Watch more... Shredist and Daily MTB.
Where is this? 30 minutes of downhill sounds amazing and the trail looks spectacular! The highest point within hours of me is 85 feet above sea level, the land is so flat they call it "Hobe Mountain". It's difficult to comprehend 30 minutes of downhill!
Having an amazing ride and getting home to see your files are gone is probably the easiest way for me to lose it! Good on you for rising above but, HEY GOPRO! DO BETTER!!!
Have you considered tilting your camera up slightly. The tension is killing the neck muscles trying to continuously look further down trail but obviously that doesn't work lol. Just a thought.
I have to think he would have won it, guy regularly puts up insane KOMs. Both Dave and Dale are super fit but I'd have to give the edge to Dale. That said, I'd kill for a quarter the skill Dave has, especially on skinny lines haha.
Dale would have won for sure. He's 10x fitter than I am and would have put a ton of time into me on each and every flat/pedally section. I think we'd be close on the descents from a technical standpoint, but again, he's so much fitter that he'd be able to maintain a higher pace. I only get out 1-2x/week, so between practice and racing, that weekend was equivalent to about two months worth of riding lol.
Thanks! I was 5th in my category, the EWS80, which is an open class that rides ~80% of the full course. There is also EWS100 which is an open category riding the full course as well as the EWS which is for elite racers. As a weekend warrior, the EWS80 was just right for me.
"it is like doing a squat and push up...." oh yes. i find DH to be a good all round workout. much better than thought. you really need to be in good shape to handle that. as for passing riders, my little, on her first race, accidentally nudged another rider. The other girl took a low line, she passed on the high line. both were fine thankfully. Small hill all the girls know each other.
Nice work! Man that technical descent gave me arm pump from watching ;-) I reckon you'd be able to improve composure and endurance even further by doing some breath training. Specifically nasal breathing - calms the body and creates focus / flow as well as improving endurance on extended DH runs. Check out / read "The oxygen advantage" by Patrick Mckeown
I've had pretty good luck with them. Rarely have issues when the cut is on the top of the tire, but they have a hard time with anything near the bead. Not sure if bacon would solve that, but I've thought about giving it a try.
Congratulations Dave! You earned the win!
Thanks Jordan! Such a fun weekend with the whole RUclips crew!
A face reveal from Dave is the best content I’ve watched on RUclips all month!!
I wondered what he looked like, too.
I too was trying not to die in stage 4... and this is just from watching you and hearing you pep talk yourself... That's a real push... I can only imagine how you managed to hold on...

That was awesome footage from an awesome event. Great job, Dave!

Really noticed the quality in the commentary, editing and content of this video! Keep it up Dave and congrats on the massive victory

i read this in a british and aussie accent.
I just started watching your videos and they are very relaxing and wholesome I know it's a lot of work for you to do the biking but as someone who is constantly sick in bed it is very helpful and relaxing for me to watch.
That was intense. A lot of that trail looked straight up scary
So many passes on that stage 3 !
I also talk to myself a lot when things get hard, same as you, a lot of "come on" and "you can do it"
Excellent! The amount of "Oh shit! Watch out!"s in my head...man. Great job avoiding that hiker too.
I was initially very impressed with your technical skills and balance on crazy skinnies and such... to see that you can also go fast down all this is also incredible!
my favourite part is probably all the self motivational talking. it's so nice and wholesome to listen too. The riding is ofcourse really fun to watch also!
Thanks for the race day company, Fun racing with you guys!
Great riding Dave, your bike is so incredibly quiet. Do you use any additional quieting techniques or devices?
Who’s the fastest RUclipsr? Well, I think a certain compadre of yours might have had something to say about the final result had he competed. Then again, can he be called a RUclipsr anymore? He hasn’t posted in a few weeks.

Awesome ride Dave! I went mountain biking for the first time today after watching your vids. Great fun.
That was ridiculous. Unbelievably awesome. Great work. I talk to myself too in situations requiring lots of motivation. It works.
I'd already seen the other videos, so I guess the WINNER can post his when he damn well please :) Great job Dave. Talk Dale into joining you next year.

The Commencal Meta SX is a machine. I love mine.
man, that was good! thnx for sharing…. quite an event/ that 4th stage was a WHOLE LOT of work. NZ is watching!
PS Sam Gale…. 6th @Hardline…. Yaaaaa!
Nice content! And congratulations on the win! Up against some fast riders and very close in ability, Had me on the edge of my seat!
Aaaaal the way you can hear thoses suspension screaming "ouch" "awww" "ughhhh" "yawwwch" 😁😁🤘🤘
Good job, Dave!
EWS seems like such a fun type of race.
I love watching your enduro race videos!!
Literally the first vid I've watched of yours. Heard of you before prob on Nic or Josh's channel. Good stuff!
Awesome riding! Way to hold it together on the long downs. Some close calls!
Classic GoPro move. That's too bad we don't get to see you race it.
That was pretty cool, from you and all the other YTers as well, pretty close really.

great video.
Hard to remember these are _double black trails in Whistler_ these guys are riding 😳
Great job!! I figured you're the fastest. Van Can crushed it too!
I’m worked just watching this while sipping my morning coffee!
Awesome ride Dave! I had no doubts who will win… 👍👍👍
Can’t believe I’d stay watching till the end! Great ride Dave!!!! Weeeeeew

There's never enough time to watch them all 😆
@@ddangerousddave I love You - Dave and VanCan Nic and Dale Stone videos. Very different skill sets.
Whoa... you can never tell a person's looks based on voice so this is really cool!!
You should totally do a long take of one of your rides, like from start to finish. If it was 30 min + that'd be amazing and so soothing I feel like :)
Nice work Dave..yiieeww 🤙🏽
Those were awesome stages. I wonder where Dale Stone would have ended up were he present.
Man, Dave... Riding ability aside, your fitness is impressive. *New sub
You have some mad skills. Great video.
I don't know why but I started breathing hard watching you go down stage 3 (maybe stage 4?)! Incredible job.
Well done my favorite MTB ytber
Wicked run dude 👊🏼💥
Next year…RUclipsrs on hardtails!
Epic edge of the seat stuff.
Exhausted just watching that
King Dave. Dale missed this one. It's not fair with him in the mix. He ride these courses and never seems to get out of breath. Lol
Sick dude 🤩🤟🔥
Great job!
U absolutely shredded it!
So that’s what dangerous Dave looks like!
You are insane!! Amazing!
“Come on Dave” is my new way of motivating myself-even though my name is not Dave.
Man, for not being a pro racer this is insane riding!
Where is this? 30 minutes of downhill sounds amazing and the trail looks spectacular! The highest point within hours of me is 85 feet above sea level, the land is so flat they call it "Hobe Mountain". It's difficult to comprehend 30 minutes of downhill!
Looks like an absolutely punishing affair. Nice work Dave!
That's awesome.
You fly down these trails like a madman. Yet I think you're very sane
speed is a byproduct of smoothness.
that was Awesome !
Man what a run 💪
Wow awesome!
dave is my fav
Yes Dave!
What a test of willpower!
Having an amazing ride and getting home to see your files are gone is probably the easiest way for me to lose it! Good on you for rising above but, HEY GOPRO! DO BETTER!!!

amazing!
How do you like how the commencal is handling on the trails for you so far?
Greetings from Brazil!
So Fast 👍👍👍
Macky, the answer is Macky, even if he wasn;t there.
Smooth hauling cashews down those trails.
how do recon Dale would have fitted into the YT leaderboards?
I have to think he would have won it, guy regularly puts up insane KOMs. Both Dave and Dale are super fit but I'd have to give the edge to Dale. That said, I'd kill for a quarter the skill Dave has, especially on skinny lines haha.

Some of the best race footage iv ever seen. Anyone know how he did overall?
Great videos, dude. Did you place 5th overall in this event?

@@ddangerousddave That's awesome. Looks really fun, I'll have to make my way up to Vancouver sometime. I'm in Newfoundland. Keeping killing it dude!
Bike review!
Excellent!
Bro you did great 👍
how much tire pressure do you have? congratulations !!
Holy shit man, the stamina and endurance you got is insane!!! How dead were you the following days? 😅
With your laugh, you can be the next Joker

@dangerous dave, what do you call this style of riding? Downhill? Or enduro?
-Thankyou
This is enduro. Specifically an enduro race.
To answer your question in the caption, I'm gonna go with Bernard Kerr. Not sure anyone faster than him regularly posts on RUclips
Do you like the Dart? I’ve gone back to bacon after breaking two of them.
I've had pretty good luck with them. Rarely have issues when the cut is on the top of the tire, but they have a hard time with anything near the bead. Not sure if bacon would solve that, but I've thought about giving it a try.
Awesome
What's the point in knowing that? You can always press the 2x button ;)
I talk to myself all the time when I ride
Where’s dale?
I thought I heard his "YEW" a couple times during this video... But it could be copycat yewers. LoL.
Dale was banned because he’s too fit
i like the mud so much it meakes me what to take a bath
You look like a mix of Tom Cruise and NileRed
