Beste Zangers is a TV show from the Netherlands, in which 7 singers from various musical genres are invited every year. Each of the first 7 weeks / episodes, one of the singers takes the "central place" next to the moderator, and the other 6 sing for him/her songs from that singer's repertoire, or with meaning for him/her. In the last episode (the 8th), the singers sing duets. Floor was invited in the 2019 season of the TV show, finally becoming well known to the public in her country (the audience of this TV show is national, being transmitted on Saturday evenings - an hour with a large audience) after an international career of more than 2 decades in symphonic metal bands, the reason being that the metal genre is considered underground in the Netherlands, not being usually covered by the official audiovisual media. ALL of Floor's performances in this show were extraordinary, opening her doors to the Dutch public, and Floor exploited this opportunity, organizing a chain of solo concerts, with songs from her entire career (including Beste Zangers covers), at the beginning of 2020. The last show in this chain took place only in September 2021 (when concerts with the public were allowed again) at AFAS Amsterdam, being professionally recorded and broadcast online in full, following a crowdfunding campaign organized by Floor, which reached the target in just a few hours - you reacted to "Euphoria" from this concert. Daniel, this is not a contest but Dutch singers singing for each other and each other songs. This is already about 15 years a hit in The Netherlands. The singers pay respect to each other and there is NO ego. As many vocal coaches from the US following Floor and this program The best singers (in English) have said that such a program in The US is not possible sheer from ego, s and jealousy. Pity but thru! This was a Dutch television series. Aside from the host, all the people seated are singers themselves, all from different genres, all at different stages of their careers. Some are aware of or familiar with the other singers, some not. For example, Floor and Tim know each other because their respective bands used to often play at the same festivals on the European circuit. And Floor is a fan of the older gentleman, Henk Poort. In fact, he's sort of an idol of hers that she followed growing up. Each episode is dedicated to one of the singers. The other singers perform songs that that person has either written, recorded, or covered, or perhaps they will do a song that is just a personal favorite or has special meaning for them. As opposed to the sort of reality show you might find in the United States, this is not a competition, there's no voting or anything, just appreciation for each artist's unique skills and approach. This episode was dedicated to the young lady in red, Emma Heesters. Floor chose this song because Emma had also done a well-received cover of it that was very popular on RUclips. I found the full episodes of this season of the show here, and they are worth watching. Floor not only does a wide range of genre and style, but has a different look and aura that fits each song. Or Finland, because she is the face of Finlands largest export product (Nightwish). As I understand the rules of Eurovision (but correct me if I am wrong) you compete for the country that you hold the passport of and that envoys you to the Eurovision song contest pre finals. I have no idea if Floor has a Dutch or a Swedish passport. I suspect she has a Dutch one as by Dutch law you can generally only have 1 nationality (with some exceptions). And Floor still speaks Dutch to her daughter, despite living in Sweden.
@@ronaldderooij1774 The country relates to the songwriter not the singer, for example Celine Dion (Canadian) sang (and won) for Switzerland, Olivia Newton-John (Australian) sang for UK, and Baccara (Spanish) sang for Luxembourg amongst others. I don't know if there has to be any connection, for example, in this year's contest, Cyprus's song was sung by an Australian, but he had a Greek name so there could have been a Cypriot connection.

This is a kind of a European phenomena - you bring 6 of the best singers, often from different genres, together - and let them sing for each other. It's not a contest - but rather a tribute. Each night 1 singer is in the couch - and the other singers, perform his/hers songs or favorites, in their own way to twist and personalize the songs. Besides the Dutch Beste Zangers show from 2019 - Floor participated in the German version in 21 I think it was - called 'Sing meinen song '. Needless to say that she totally killed the show - but unfortunately these videos are difficult to get, because of copyright protection (the songs are on Floor's YT Channel - but no videos). Back to Beste Zangers 2019 - the old guy is Henk Port - The European Phantom from Phantom of the Opera - very famous opera singer in Europe - and a very pleasant and humorous guy. The others called him Uncle Henk. In the first show - before they started, Henk was going around and teasing the others about how he was looking forward to hear them singing his opera style. ( none of them knew literally anything about Floor ) Henk was in the couch - Floor was the first singer on stage - singing 'Vilja Lied' - in German - and in opera style. Henk lost his tongue - the others became very silent - Floor set the barr so sky-high, that the others had to perform better than the had ever done before. And they did during the 7 episodes - this 2019 version can never be matched, it's that mind blowing! Henk Port did a phenomenal version of 'Sound of Silence' to Floor - that version is equal if not better than the Disturbed version !!! (not kidding ) Henk learned himself distortion to perform this song for Floor !!!. Floor and Henk performed a mind blowing 'Phantom of the Opera as the last song in the show - but Nightwish - with Henk as guest star - made the greatest version of Phantom of the Opera ever made - in November 2022 in the Ziggy Dome in Amsterdam. That performance was a promise Floor made to Henk during the Beste Zangers show in 2019. That is insanely good !!!

Actually this TV show was the first time for me that I heared of Floor. I was awestruck and I was intreaged to find out what she "normally" sings, that's when I fell in the Nightwish rabbit hole. Have become a fan since then ... (also for earlier NW with Tarja).
There are some major talents on that couch. Apart from one who is the host of the show they're all singers. In this episode the other singers sing songs that are important to the one sitting next to the host, in this case Emma Heesters. @peevee No the host Jan Smit is also a singer. And he has had many hits actually for many many years!!! Both in The Netherlands and also germany. When he was younger he used to sing in both Dutch and German. Now he mostly sings in Dutch.

This is a great show, but not a competition. Floor performed many incredible and emotionally moving songs on this show. A worth checking out. if you react to one with the intros and outros in English subs you will learn more about the concept of this great show.
Everyone has their own opinion, obviously, but for me, Floor is the greatest female singer. This doesn't scratch the surface yet. When you hear her in Nightwish blockbusters like Dead Boy's Poem, The Greatest Show on Earth, Poet and the pendulum, Shoemaker or her other colaborations like Misplaced Among the Angels, Let This River Flow... or Villa Lied and Que Se Siente from this show, it'll become clearer.

Floor covers any song and makes it her own, as if she came out with it first.. Floor's just that incredible, that she has the natural ability to sing anything, even the phone book, which she does that to very good. Nice reaction. Absolutely every song Floor did on the 2019 season of "Beste Zangers" was the tits, this isn't even one of my favourites. Just so you know, all the people on the couches are the other participants in the show. Unlike most Dutch shows (like Big Brother) it hasn't been remade in English yet (but has been in several European languages.) The show is for successful professional singers. They spend time at a resort on Ibiza, getting to know each other during the days then at night they gather around the couches. Each night one singer is the "focus" and sits next to the host. The others take turns singing for the focus, often something that has meaning for them or even is their own work. It's not a competition and there is no cash prize. Floor agreed to join because the producers told her they had already recruited her childhood idol, opera and musical theatre star Henk Poort. He was Andrew Lloyd Webber's favourite actor in the role of the Phantom in "Phantom Of the Opera". He has since become firm friends with Floor and appeared onstage with her several times, including when Nightwish performed "Phantom Of the Opera" for the first time since Tarja left the band in 2005. Seriously, watch all of Floor's Beste Zangers performances! In the first episode, only one of the other singers had ever heard Floor sing. She was the Netherlands best selling artist while being almost totally unknown in the Netherlands! (Which is a crime, considering how many Dutch Metal Goddesses there are!) First song of the season was Floor, singing to Henk on the couch. The song she chose was "Vilja Lied" from the German operetta "The Merry Widow" that Henk's mother used to sing to him. Floor blew the other singers away with her talent. Eventually she became the de facto "Team Mom" to the younger singers. The whole show was so fecking wholesome I could hadly believe it.

I am sorry, but here comes a new rabbit hole and believe me….it is going to be another big one. Floor covers (I think) about six songs and this in different languages like German, English, Dutch and spanish and believe me, she owns each and every song! By the way, Floor was not known by the most Dutch people. Now, she is a big star in the Netherlands. Just for your info, Floor sang the Dutch anthem for the last F1 race in Zandvoort, last year. The show takes 7 singers from different genres and in each episode one of them is placed central and the others sing a song that has a story with it. Can be an own song or something with a good or bad/sad memory. Stories are shared and the songs are sang, no competition. Funny thing is that with many songs the singers have to step out of their music comfort zone or change a song into their music comfort zone making it even more special. The 8th episode is the fun duet episode where each singer have to chose one of the others to do a duet with. Most epic of that season was Floor with Henk Poort singing the Phantom of the Opera.
Boiled down, the intent of the show is for singers across genres to become friends. Its a celebration of each other's music, and of each other's musical tastes.

'Beste Zangers' is a show, but not a competition. It's a celebration of good music. Every year they have a group of established singers, and each episode one of them is in the spotlight. They explore that singer's career and life, while the other singers pick a song that the one in the spotlight sang, wrote or is just special to them. This is from Emma Heesters' episode, the blonde in red on the couch next to the host. She's a youtube cover singer, who became wellknown with her own cover of Shallow, so Floor picked this song to sing in tribute to her. Please check out some of Floor's own work from her 2023 album. I recommend 'Fire' (live at HLF8) or Paragon (the official video, I'm not sure if there's a good quality live version yet?)

Hi again Daniel - David from across the pond...again 😊 I was exactly like you when I heard this - my Wife is Colombian and just not into metal so my first song to introduce her to Floor was this one and she now loves Floor. In this show she also sung 'Que se siente' entirely in Spanish which pleased Wifey no end. She also performs 'Mama' for Samantha Steenwyjk (one of the blonde ladies, who's song it is) which is so powerful and heartfelt. Beste Zangers is another smaller rabbit hole but well worth doing! You could start with the first performance of Floor in this show with an "operetta" song: Vilja Lied. She was rather unknown to the other candidates other than being some metal chick... Glad you got persuaded to do this one, cuz the "Beste Zangers" goldmine is a treasure trove of all things Floor. I'll try to keep this short..😇 and post a follow-up with the appropriate l!nks. So it's abt songs that were performed by Floor during the legendary 2019 edition of the Dutch TV show, "Beste Zangers". In English, this translates into "Best Singers" but it can also be taken as "Dear Singers", as in a written invitation. No competition or anything. Just accomplished Dutch singers gathered together in an intimate setting far from home (this was filmed on Ibiza, if I'm not mistaken). Each episode is dedicated to one of the singers. The others perform songs that have a special meaning for the singer at the centre of attention. The great thing abt Floor in that show was that most of the other singers didn't know her. She was that "metal chick" and not well known in the mainstream. Most of the Dutch television audience didn't know much about her either. That was about to change dramatically. In short: she blew all of them away singing in German, Dutch, English and Spanish. From the get-go, she set the bar so high that the others stepped up their game and in turn delivered stellar performances when they sang to Floor (and were incredibly nervous). Special mention in this respect: Emma Heesters (a RUclips singer) who sang "Strong" to Floor (who had written it for her mother who suffers from chronic RA). Tissues handy for that one! When doing reactions as a non-Dutchie, it's best to go with the English subbed versions. If YT doesn't allow me to include the l!nks, know that all the subbed versions can be found on the channel "Floor op TV", playlist: Beste Zangers 2019. These versions include the lovely before/after banter which provides some very useful & fun context to the songs. The official versions (by broadcaster AVRO/TROS) I would not recommend, since they miss the before/after, come with a rather annoying outro and also tend to get blocked increasingly. Well man, yes, you can easily fall, helpless, under this woman"s spell. Floor has something, more than talent... charisma is called. And it's very strong. Like the Greek sailors of old, falling under the enchanting singing of sirens.
Floor can literally sing the phone book and make it sound amazing. And I do mean literally, because there's a clip from a radio station where she does exactly that! You should really check out her Phantom of the Opera performance from this show, with the older man sitting on the couch. For me personally, it's the best version there is (even better than both popular Nightwish versions). At some point, we need to get you to go down the Aurora rabbit hole. She's another incredible singer, who kills covers, as well as writes fantastic original songs, and is absolutely amazing live. If you like how Floor feels what she's singing, you'll love Aurora.

Beste Zangers is a Dutch TV Show that is a Celebration of Music without the Competitive element. Each Singer is from a different Musical background and Genre, they each pick and choose what the other acts will sing.
Floor has several great performances in the Beste Zangers show . There are also versions of the same songs that has both speaking intros and outros where they speak a short while about the songs and performance before and after the songs.
Floor said in an interview that she admires Lady Gaga not only because of her music but also because she is such a strong "stubborn" woman who goes her own way. So it perhaps is more a tribute than a cover.
The 2019 Beste Zangers series was amazing. All of the singers were just top notch. Floor was amazing and the other amazing part of the series was ...The Band. They did a fantastic job playing songs they hadn't heard, playing songs differently than the original. Floor was so impressed with them, she hired as many as she could for her solo concert tour. The only ones who declined had previous engagements they couldn't back out of. She sang this song for Emma Heesters, the young long haired blonde. Emma is also a wonderful singer and you should check out some of her songs from BZ 2019. Well worth it!!
Floor is vulnerable, a very special person,a high sensitive empath who has the ability to absorb emotion and transmit to the very souls of her audience who often tear up or fully cry as it affects us so much. She needs to recharge in nature to stay the amazing talent she is .During the pandemic she was totally magnificent to her fans to keep us all going with covers live chats video and interviews . Everyone who has been touched by her is far better off in every way and all adore her . Tuomas is also am empath who creates the exact environment for Floor . Nightwish produce experiences which are wonderful different and captivating. Floor sprinkles stardust in all her collaborations and solo performances .

The way this Dutch TV show works is there are singers from different genres. Each week one is featured and the others sing songs they wrote, or are personal to them. Its not a competition, just a sharing of music and experiences. It's really cool. The German version is called Sing Meinen Song & Floor was on it last year. Blew them away!

My comment: "Floor appeared on the show Beste Zangers in season 12 (No, not a competition, but a singing show where Dutch artists sing to each other when one of them sits on the couch for the whole episode, Floor's "couch" episode was ep4). When all the singers arrived for the show, the ONLY one who knew anything about her was Tim Akkerman who knew her from her time in After Forever. It provides all the context of the why is this, that and the other and this season was pretty cool and exploded internationally due to Floor being on it. The other singers are not slouches either, ranging from very young through to very experienced but each with their own story and motivation which each of the other singer helps explore through singing songs for them.

Floor sung the lines tells me something girl twice as she was singing to Emma the girl in the red. It was Emma Heesters turn to be sung to. They all take turns performing a song and that song could be either there favorite artist or there own song or a song they loved as a child like the song Henk Poort's mother would sing to him as a child. Not sure if this is a contest as such but i believe they all vote at the end their Favorite who i guess is declared the winner?.
You will really love watching the other Floor performances on Beste Zangers 2019, as others below have said. I suggest you watch them in the same order they aired simply because it is the most fun to follow along with the reaction of the other singers on the couch as they got "floored" for the first time. The very first episode is the most fun because, you see, Floor was not very widely known in her home country of the Netherlands. None of the others had any idea who she was or what she could do. Their attitudes were something like, "Oh how cute. A headbangin' metal chick. What's she gonna do, growl for us?" And then she opened her mouth to sing Vilja Lied, an aria from the 19th Century German operetta, "The Merry Widow." In German. Please Trust me on this, do Nightwish "Yours is an Empty Hope" Live at Wembley 2015, and not just because I was there but its the best recording of Floor Growling in Nightwish, the south American recording is also amazing but not as clear, then if you want to really contrast that watch Foor Jansen beste zangers "que se siente" Also just to make a comment on Floors vulnerabilities, she like many people has suffered from depression and just over a year before that amazing performance at Wacken 2013 she was living with her parents contemplating walking away from music for ever, thank god she didn’t as I believe she is a gift to music and this world in general. I don’t admitting as a 280lb man tearing up listening to her singing and a 6"5 friend of mine literally crying next to me just saying " She is adorable" and she is a gift and out Valkyrie goddess. Not sure if you have ever listened to Sabaton, her husband is the Drummer. Christmas Truce is a definite recommendation but you would have to do the Video, you will know when you watch it, the end titles have a haunting vocal which is sung by Floor.
BTW, Henk Poort, who you saw in your very first Nightwish reaction, is the old dude sitting on the couch, listening to Floor. That Nightwish collab was born here. You should do a reaction to Ayreon - The day that the world breaks down. To give some context, Ayreon is a musical project, think a universe like Star Wars Universe and the George Lucas of the Ayreon universe is a guy called Arjen Anthony Lucassen, i won’t go into too much detail about him only to say that he is like a progressive metal equivalent of say Beethoven and Mozart etc and he gets a collective of singers and musicians to perform his music and to tie this into this video, he was the one that discovered Floor Jansen and many of his songs include Floor singing in them. The day that the world breaks down is the first song on the album The Source and the song has all 11 singers who perform on the album, singing on the track. If you do fancy checking it out, there is a music video to accompany the song which is very good and has some subtitled running commentary by Arjen too. Beste Zangers is a show that consists of a variety of artists who sing each others songs or a song that the performer picks out of the playlist of the main guest. In this case Floor picked out Shallow out of Emma Heesters' favorite playlist.
Floor does not like competitive singing, although I think she knows she would win most competitions if she wanted to. She dislikes competitive singing because she feels that art cannot be judged a priori, other than by technique and that is what competitive singing is mostly not about. And she hates to see people disappointed that lose the competition.
Beste Zangers is a TV show from the Netherlands, in which 7 singers from various musical genres are invited every year. Each of the first 7 weeks / episodes, one of the singers takes the "central place" next to the moderator, and the other 6 sing for him/her songs from that singer's repertoire, or with meaning for him/her. In the last episode (the 8th), the singers sing duets. Floor was invited in the 2019 season of the TV show, finally becoming well known to the public in her country (the audience of this TV show is national, being transmitted on Saturday evenings - an hour with a large audience) after an international career of more than 2 decades in symphonic metal bands, the reason being that the metal genre is considered underground in the Netherlands, not being usually covered by the official audiovisual media.
ALL of Floor's performances in this show were extraordinary, opening her doors to the Dutch public, and Floor exploited this opportunity, organizing a chain of solo concerts, with songs from her entire career (including Beste Zangers covers), at the beginning of 2020. The last show in this chain took place only in September 2021 (when concerts with the public were allowed again) at AFAS Amsterdam, being professionally recorded and broadcast online in full, following a crowdfunding campaign organized by Floor, which reached the target in just a few hours - you reacted to "Euphoria" from this concert.

The singers pay respect to each other and there is NO ego. As many vocal coaches from the US following Floor and this program The best singers (in English) have said that such a program in The US is not possible sheer from ego, s and jealousy. Pity but thru! This was a Dutch television series. Aside from the host, all the people seated are singers themselves, all from different genres, all at different stages of their careers. Some are aware of or familiar with the other singers, some not. For example, Floor and Tim know each other because their respective bands used to often play at the same festivals on the European circuit. And Floor is a fan of the older gentleman, Henk Poort. In fact, he's sort of an idol of hers that she followed growing up. Each episode is dedicated to one of the singers. The other singers perform songs that that person has either written, recorded, or covered, or perhaps they will do a song that is just a personal favorite or has special meaning for them. As opposed to the sort of reality show you might find in the United States, this is not a competition, there's no voting or anything, just appreciation for each artist's unique skills and approach. This episode was dedicated to the young lady in red, Emma Heesters. Floor chose this song because Emma had also done a well-received cover of it that was very popular on RUclips. I found the full episodes of this season of the show here, and they are worth watching. Floor not only does a wide range of genre and style, but has a different look and aura that fits each song. It's super cool. Oh yeah, she also sings in four different languages...

As I understand the rules of Eurovision (but correct me if I am wrong) you compete for the country that you hold the passport of and that envoys you to the Eurovision song contest pre finals. I have no idea if Floor has a Dutch or a Swedish passport. I suspect she has a Dutch one as by Dutch law you can generally only have 1 nationality (with some exceptions). And Floor still speaks Dutch to her daughter, despite living in Sweden.
@@ronaldderooij1774 The country relates to the songwriter not the singer, for example Celine Dion (Canadian) sang (and won) for Switzerland, Olivia Newton-John (Australian) sang for UK, and Baccara (Spanish) sang for Luxembourg amongst others. I don't know if there has to be any connection, for example, in this year's contest, Cyprus's song was sung by an Australian, but he had a Greek name so there could have been a Cypriot connection.

This is a kind of a European phenomena - you bring 6 of the best singers, often from different genres, together - and let them sing for each other. It's not a contest - but rather a tribute. Each night 1 singer is in the couch - and the other singers, perform his/hers songs or favorites, in their own way to twist and personalize the songs.
Besides the Dutch Beste Zangers show from 2019 - Floor participated in the German version in 21 I think it was - called 'Sing meinen song '. Needless to say that she totally killed the show - but unfortunately these videos are difficult to get, because of copyright protection (the songs are on Floor's YT Channel - but no videos).
Back to Beste Zangers 2019 - the old guy is Henk Port - The European Phantom from Phantom of the Opera - very famous opera singer in Europe - and a very pleasant and humorous guy. The others called him Uncle Henk.
In the first show - before they started, Henk was going around and teasing the others about how he was looking forward to hear them singing his opera style. ( none of them knew literally anything about Floor )
Henk was in the couch - Floor was the first singer on stage - singing 'Vilja Lied' - in German - and in opera style.
Henk lost his tongue - the others became very silent - Floor set the barr so sky-high, that the others had to perform better than the had ever done before. And they did during the 7 episodes - this 2019 version can never be matched, it's that mind blowing!
Henk Port did a phenomenal version of 'Sound of Silence' to Floor - that version is equal if not better than the Disturbed version !!! (not kidding ) Henk learned himself distortion to perform this song for Floor !!!.
Floor and Henk performed a mind blowing 'Phantom of the Opera as the last song in the show - but Nightwish - with Henk as guest star - made the greatest version of Phantom of the Opera ever made - in November 2022 in the Ziggy Dome in Amsterdam. That performance was a promise Floor made to Henk during the Beste Zangers show in 2019.

Actually this TV show was the first time for me that I heared of Floor. I was awestruck and I was intreaged to find out what she "normally" sings, that's when I fell in the Nightwish rabbit hole. Have become a fan since then ... (also for earlier NW with Tarja).
There are some major talents on that couch. Apart from one who is the host of the show they're all singers. In this episode the other singers sing songs that are important to the one sitting next to the host, in this case Emma Heesters. From the same show you might wanna check out Floor doing Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort and Emma Heesters Vivo Per Lei with Henk also, just to name a couple.

This is a great show, but not a competition. Floor performed many incredible and emotionally moving songs on this show. A worth checking out. if you react to one with the intros and outros in English subs you will learn more about the concept of this great show.
Everyone has their own opinion, obviously, but for me, Floor is the greatest female singer. This doesn't scratch the surface yet.
When you hear her in Nightwish blockbusters like Dead Boy's Poem, The Greatest Show on Earth, Poet and the pendulum, Shoemaker or her other colaborations like Misplaced Among the Angels, Let This River Flow... or Villa Lied and Que Se Siente from this show, it'll become clearer.

Floor's just that incredible, that she has the natural ability to sing anything, even the phone book, which she does that to very good. Nice reaction. Absolutely every song Floor did on the 2019 season of "Beste Zangers" was the tits, this isn't even one of my favourites. Just so you know, all the people on the couches are the other participants in the show. Unlike most Dutch shows (like Big Brother) it hasn't been remade in English yet (but has been in several European languages.) The show is for successful professional singers. They spend time at a resort on Ibiza, getting to know each other during the days then at night they gather around the couches. Each night one singer is the "focus" and sits next to the host. The others take turns singing for the focus, often something that has meaning for them or even is their own work. It's not a competition and there is no cash prize. Floor agreed to join because the producers told her they had already recruited her childhood idol, opera and musical theatre star Henk Poort. He was Andrew Lloyd Webber's favourite actor in the role of the Phantom in "Phantom Of the Opera". He has since become firm friends with Floor and appeared onstage with her several times, including when Nightwish performed "Phantom Of the Opera" for the first time since Tarja left the band in 2005. Seriously, watch all of Floor's Beste Zangers performances! In the first episode, only one of the other singers had ever heard Floor sing. She was the Netherlands best selling artist while being almost totally unknown in the Netherlands! (Which is a crime, considering how many Dutch Metal Goddesses there are!) First song of the season was Floor, singing to Henk on the couch. The song she chose was "Vilja Lied" from the German operetta "The Merry Widow" that Henk's mother used to sing to him. Floor blew the other singers away with her talent. Eventually she became the de facto "Team Mom" to the younger singers. The whole show was so fecking wholesome I could hadly believe it.

I am sorry, but here comes a new rabbit hole and believe me….it is going to be another big one. Floor covers (I think) about six songs and this in different languages like German, English, Dutch and spanish and believe me, she owns each and every song! By the way, Floor was not known by the most Dutch people. Now, she is a big star in the Netherlands. Just for your info, Floor sang the Dutch anthem for the last F1 race in Zandvoort, last year. The show takes 7 singers from different genres and in each episode one of them is placed central and the others sing a song that has a story with it. Can be an own song or something with a good or bad/sad memory. Stories are shared and the songs are sang, no competition. Funny thing is that with many songs the singers have to step out of their music comfort zone or change a song into their music comfort zone making it even more special. The 8th episode is the fun duet episode where each singer have to chose one of the others to do a duet with. Most epic of that season was Floor with Henk Poort singing the Phantom of the Opera.
Boiled down, the intent of the show is for singers across genres to become friends. Its a celebration of each other's music, and of each other's musical tastes.

In this show she also sung 'Que se siente' entirely in Spanish which pleased Wifey no end. She also performs 'Mama' for Samantha Steenwyjk (one of the blonde ladies, who's song it is) which is so powerful and heartfelt. Beste Zangers is another smaller rabbit hole but well worth doing! If you intend to do more Floor in "Beste Zangers", look for clips that have "intro / outro" in the description (in Dutch but they have subtitles), it will give much more depth to the clip. You could start with the first performance of Floor in this show with an "operetta" song: Vilja Lied. She was rather unknown to the other candidates other than being some metal chick... You can see the reaction of them in that performance. 😮

So it's abt songs that were performed by Floor during the legendary 2019 edition of the Dutch TV show, "Beste Zangers". In English, this translates into "Best Singers" but it can also be taken as "Dear Singers", as in a written invitation. No competition or anything. Just accomplished Dutch singers gathered together in an intimate setting far from home (this was filmed on Ibiza, if I'm not mistaken). Each episode is dedicated to one of the singers. The others perform songs that have a special meaning for the singer at the centre of attention.
The great thing abt Floor in that show was that most of the other singers didn't know her. She was that "metal chick" and not well known in the mainstream. Most of the Dutch television audience didn't know much about her either. That was about to change dramatically. In short: she blew all of them away singing in German, Dutch, English and Spanish.
From the get-go, she set the bar so high that the others stepped up their game and in turn delivered stellar performances when they sang to Floor (and were incredibly nervous). Special mention in this respect: Emma Heesters (a RUclips singer) who sang "Strong" to Floor (who had written it for her mother who suffers from chronic RA). Tissues handy for that one!
When doing reactions as a non-Dutchie, it's best to go with the English subbed versions. If YT doesn't allow me to include the l!nks, know that all the subbed versions can be found on the channel "Floor op TV", playlist: Beste Zangers 2019.
These versions include the lovely before/after banter which provides some very useful & fun context to the songs. Well man, yes, you can easily fall, helpless, under this woman"s spell. Floor has something, more than talent... charisma is called. And it's very strong. Like the Greek sailors of old, falling under the enchanting singing of sirens.
Floor can literally sing the phone book and make it sound amazing. And I do mean literally, because there's a clip from a radio station where she does exactly that! You should really check out her Phantom of the Opera performance from this show, with the older man sitting on the couch. For me personally, it's the best version there is (even better than both popular Nightwish versions).
At some point, we need to get you to go down the Aurora rabbit hole. She's another incredible singer, who kills covers, as well as writes fantastic original songs, and is absolutely amazing live. If you like how Floor feels what she's singing, you'll love Aurora.

Beste Zangers is a Dutch TV Show that is a Celebration of Music without the Competitive element. Each Singer is from a different Musical background and Genre, they each pick and choose what the other acts will sing.
Floor has several great performances in the Beste Zangers show . There are also versions of the same songs that has both speaking intros and outros where they speak a short while about the songs and performance before and after the songs.

I certainly wouldn't be surprised if it was true.
Floor said in an interview that she admires Lady Gaga not only because of her music but also because she is such a strong "stubborn" woman who goes her own way. So it perhaps is more a tribute than a cover.
The 2019 Beste Zangers series was amazing. All of the singers were just top notch. Floor was amazing and the other amazing part of the series was ...The Band. They did a fantastic job playing songs they hadn't heard, playing songs differently than the original. Floor was so impressed with them, she hired as many as she could for her solo concert tour. The only ones who declined had previous engagements they couldn't back out of. She sang this song for Emma Heesters, the young long haired blonde. Emma is also a wonderful singer and you should check out some of her songs from BZ 2019. Well worth it!!

Floor is vulnerable, a very special person,a high sensitive empath who has the ability to absorb emotion and transmit to the very souls of her audience who often tear up or fully cry as it affects us so much. She needs to recharge in nature to stay the amazing talent she is .During the pandemic she was totally magnificent to her fans to keep us all going with covers live chats video and interviews . Everyone who has been touched by her is far better off in every way and all adore her .

The way this Dutch TV show works is there are singers from different genres. Each week one is featured and the others sing songs they wrote, or are personal to them.
Its not a competition, just a sharing of music and experiences. It's really cool. The German version is called Sing Meinen Song & Floor was on it last year. Blew them away!

My comment: "Floor appeared on the show Beste Zangers in season 12 (No, not a competition, but a singing show where Dutch artists sing to each other when one of them sits on the couch for the whole episode, Floor's "couch" episode was ep4). When all the singers arrived for the show, the ONLY one who knew anything about her was Tim Akkerman who knew her from her time in After Forever. All everyone else knew was some "Metal" singer was going to be on the show. To make this SHORT, she blew everyone away INCLUDING audiences that were watching at their homes on tv. there are complete episodes of this show with english subtitles if you would like to explore them. It provides all the context of the why is this, that and the other and this season was pretty cool and exploded internationally due to Floor being on it. The other singers are not slouches either, ranging from very young through to very experienced but each with their own story and motivation which each of the other singer helps explore through singing songs for them.

Floor sung the lines tells me something girl twice as she was singing to Emma the girl in the red. It was Emma Heesters turn to be sung to. They all take turns performing a song and that song could be either there favorite artist or there own song or a song they loved as a child like the song Henk Poort's mother would sing to him as a child. Not sure if this is a contest as such but i believe they all vote at the end their Favorite who i guess is declared the winner?.
You will really love watching the other Floor performances on Beste Zangers 2019, as others below have said. I suggest you watch them in the same order they aired simply because it is the most fun to follow along with the reaction of the other singers on the couch as they got "floored" for the first time. The very first episode is the most fun because, you see, Floor was not very widely known in her home country of the Netherlands. None of the others had any idea who she was or what she could do. Their attitudes were something like, "Oh how cute. A headbangin' metal chick. What's she gonna do, growl for us?" And then she opened her mouth to sing Vilja Lied, an aria from the 19th Century German operetta, "The Merry Widow." In German. They could barely keep their jaws off the floor...ummm, OK pun was not intended that time! It is so much fun to watch their mutual Floorgasms! Please Trust me on this, do Nightwish "Yours is an Empty Hope" Live at Wembley 2015, and not just because I was there but its the best recording of Floor Growling in Nightwish, the south American recording is also amazing but not as clear, then if you want to really contrast that watch Foor Jansen beste zangers "que se siente"
Also just to make a comment on Floors vulnerabilities, she like many people has suffered from depression and just over a year before that amazing performance at Wacken 2013 she was living with her parents contemplating walking away from music for ever, thank god she didn’t as I believe she is a gift to music and this world in general.
I don’t admitting as a 280lb man tearing up listening to her singing and a 6"5 friend of mine literally crying next to me just saying " She is adorable" and she is a gift and out Valkyrie goddess.
Not sure if you have ever listened to Sabaton, her husband is the Drummer. Christmas Truce is a definite recommendation but you would have to do the Video, you will know when you watch it, the end titles have a haunting vocal which is sung by Floor.

BTW, Henk Poort, who you saw in your very first Nightwish reaction, is the old dude sitting on the couch, listening to Floor. That Nightwish collab was born here.

You should do a reaction to Ayreon - The day that the world breaks down.
To give some context, Ayreon is a musical project, think a universe like Star Wars Universe and the George Lucas of the Ayreon universe is a guy called Arjen Anthony Lucassen, i won’t go into too much detail about him only to say that he is like a progressive metal equivalent of say Beethoven and Mozart etc and he gets a collective of singers and musicians to perform his music and to tie this into this video, he was the one that discovered Floor Jansen and many of his songs include Floor singing in them.
The day that the world breaks down is the first song on the album The Source and the song has all 11 singers who perform on the album, singing on the track.
If you do fancy checking it out, there is a music video to accompany the song which is very good and has some subtitled running commentary by Arjen too.
I guarantee you will enjoy it and don’t be put off by it being a 13 minute song, it will feel like 5 mins

i began my journey with Floor with this show, but it was Phatom of the opera.i watched all the episods, one of the singer sing NW's song " Nemo " to Floor, and then i watched NW 's wacken concert
Beste Zangers is a show that consists of a variety of artists who sing each others songs or a song that the performer picks out of the playlist of the main guest.
In this case Floor picked out Shallow out of Emma Heesters' favorite playlist.
Floor does not like competitive singing, although I think she knows she would win most competitions if she wanted to. She dislikes competitive singing because she feels that art cannot be judged a priori, other than by technique and that is what competitive singing is mostly not about. And she hates to see people disappointed that lose the competition.
