Talking about emotions. She is one of the few singers who can convey any emotion what so ever. Seen her solo show last year where she did all the songs of Beste Zangers (best or dearest singers), did some Nightwish, After Forever and Revamp. Killing and sometimes even tearing up with this one, I don't know a thing of love and Winner. Stunning, exceptional, superb. Closed the show with Phantom of the Opera (with Henk Poort), and blew the roof off.
She does another version of Shallow on this same program as a duet with Tim Akkerman (the guy on the couch with the curly beard). That version they do a bit harder. Toward the end she stands up from the stool, towering over Tim, and we all thought OMG she's about to go full Nightwish on him and hurt the poor guy! But the Goddess spared his mortal life, and no actual Tims were harmed in the filming of the video! You will most certainly fall head-over-tincups in love with all her solo performances on this Dutch TV show "Beste Zangers." Of special note regarding these, you should know that the other famous singers on the show (except for Tim) did not know who Floor Jansen was before the show, as metal is not a popular genre in the Netherlands. So this show was their first introduction, they were, like, "Floor who?" "Oh look how cute, a metal chick. What's she gonna do, growl for us?" And then she opened her mouth! They were floored, floorgasm'd, hearts melted... the whole nine yards. Therefore it is a whole lotta fun to watch those episodes in the exact order they aired so you can appreciate the evolving reactions of the other singers! The crazy thing is, all of the singers in this show are quite known/established in the Netherlands, except for Floor. Only two of the singers had even heard of her. But every single one of these singers was nervous as hell when it was their turn to perform for her. That's how high Floor set the bar for everyone.
Very true. quite a few of them actually did not do a song of hers, simply because they did not dare to (or were not capable of doing it). In that regard, I had respect for Samantha. I am not a fan of Samantha's genre but she dared to do the heavy stuff, both when Floor, and later Tim sat on the couch.
Mostly, she was not the only one. Rolf Sanchez was also pretty unknown, he is like Floor, a very succesful abroad, in his case in South America and the US, bu wasn't very well known here. But it's still a crazy thing I agree. Both singers are from very different genres, but what they have in common is that their genres aren't played much on dutch radio (Floor's moreso than Rolf, cause his genre gets played, but not that commonly, whereas any kind of metal metal is unfortunately mostly out of radio's eye. I don't think Floor's appaerance on Beste Zangers changed that much, but at least she got the recognition and many new fans here which is so super well deserved.
@@Sense008 You are very right, unfortunately we still don't hear any metal on the radio, 2 years after the fact. But for me personally the show Beste Zangers was a huge gift because I did not know Floor before that. I caught up quickly though. I went to her concert in January 2020 and bought all the CD's and blu-rays from Nightwish I could get my hands on. By the way, many are talking here about the Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort. It was indeed more than amazing, but believe me, when you sit in that theater and you hear here do that last belt just in front of you, that is an experience I'll never forget. I can't find the words to describe it. A lot of people cried, and I am not afraid to admit that I was one of them.
Very true, no other vocalist on the planet touches me more than Floor. When she opens her mouth to sing I listen, with tears in my eyes from pure joy and beautiful emotions that touch every cell in my body.
These performances from Floor in this show were so good, it made a single language, English speaking guy download and watch a show, I had to watch reading the subtitles, it was so worth it. The interactions from the singers was just amazing.
Every 'beste zangers' performance of Floor will blow your socks of. That is a given. Do check them out. Phanthom of the opera with Henk Poort is an obvious favorite. Que se siente is one of my favorites.
Haven't seen this info on her yet, so. This is a show format that most in the states won't consider appealing, it isn't a competition in any way. They get a collection of singers from various genres and then each week one is the focus and all the others choose a song of that person's or one that means something special to that person and then perform it there live in front of just them. On this season only 2 other guests actually knew who Floor was. Metal is not very popular in the Netherlands. After this season aired, Floor sold out a short concert tour of the country. She performed 6 solos (in 4 languages) and 2 duets and at one point or other had EVERYONE in tears. She was the first performance of the season and everyone was in total shock from that moment onward with her talent.
That season of Beste Zangers 2019 will never be matched again. Floor started to sing an opera " Vilja Lied" to Henk Port (the old gentleman, famous European Phantom of the Opera) - and everybody got a shock. Floor was considered to be a metal head (which she is) - she even dressed like a metal head that night..... she was the first singer - and the faces of the others were priceless. Floor set the barr so high, that the others knew that they had to perform the best that they had ever done. They did - those episodes are some of the greatest shown in Dutch TV. Henk Port does a mind blowing version of "Sound of Silence" for Floor - equal or better than the Disturb version!!!! And Floor crushes the studio a cuople of times because the others burst into tears or just goes crazy. Super reaction from you - and sorry to tell you - but you are addicted for life now 🤷♂️

At the same time a Episode of this Show is broadcastet on dutch TV they also release the Songs wich the Singers have performed in this particular aired episode, so you can buy and download your favorites on Apple Music or Amazon after hearing And the beste thing was back then that Floors' version of "shallow" jumped overnight , in just 8 hours, on Top of the Dutch single charts and stayed there for a couple of weeks! And wat makes this particular so impressive and exciting is the fact that Floor (even with her lang music career and raw talent and with a huge worldwide fanbase ) was never really well known in the Netherlands until the first episodes Operetta performance wich let everyone (more or less) speechless in front of the Tv (The music market in the Netherlands have been REALLY determined (since the early 90s) only to EDM, following only by Dutch hip-hop, so that other types of music like metal, or folk being almost not existent for the majority

You should see her first performance in this TV show. She sang Vilja Lied. But one of the singer knew her, the others didn't. The Dutchies didn't know her either. So strange, so much talent, nobody knew her...

Can't we just say this woman is a vocal genius? Everyone always keeps talking about Tuomas being a genius (which he totally is), but Floor knows exactly how to use her voice. She can change the vocals of a song in a way that is technically genius, but also emotionally. She can pull you in and make you feel every note and every word. She herself made some changes to Nightwish songs that were originally written for one of the other singers and she makes it her own. Like adding operatic parts that were usually sung by a choir for instance. She hears what would make a song even more epic, theatrical and beautiful. And then she does it like it's the same as brushing your teeth. GENIUS!

The concept of the show is, that on one day all singers sing a song for one of them. It's a song that is by that singer or a song that means a lot for him / her. Floor is singing there in German, Dutch, Spanis and English. Her "Phanom of the Opera" duet with Henk Poort is legendary. This song was for Emma Heesters, the woman with the red glitter dress. She's a fantastic singer as well and doing lots of cover versions. Shallow is one of her very popular covers. So Floor sang this one for her. Floor normally sings in rock, metal and classical singing styles. For this TV Show, she had to learn a new way, that is, pop singing. You just heard a great example of what happens when this woman is studying some new style and what it sounds like! In his interviews, Floor has said how Tuomas Holopainen "challenges" her singing skills on Nightwish albums. For both of his last Nightwish albums, she had to learn more about how to sing a song to make it sound like Tuomas wants the song to go. Now that there has been a mandatory break for bands, the songwriting process has opened up. In an interview this week, Tuomas said he already has song ideas for his next Nightwish album. Which will probably come after the next tour.

I knew you'd be reassessing your original "one of the best" comment. :) Thre are better opera singers, there are equal belters but there's nobody that has Floor's range and depth of talent and ability to cut right to the heart. We're blessed to be living in this era.

Everyone loves Floor Jansen but she is really good at other language to! She also sings in Finnish and probably Swedish to and she is married (i think) to the drummer of the Swedish metalband SABATON. Everytime I hear this song on the radio I can’t stop thinking that they made a mistake and put the wrong version on.... yep when Floor is not singing it. Fun fact. On advice of the band she did a verry withhold version of it. She easily could easily belt the hell out of it but instead made this wonderfull cover.

This was captured at the End of An Era concert tour. Tarja was the lead singer at that time, but she is absent from this performance. Just the guys (Tuomas (keyboards), Marco (bass & vocals), Emppu (guitar) and Jukka (drums). The boys slay it. This, for me, is one of the "Best Covers I've Ever Heard™".

Floor did not want to imitate or copy Lady Gaga. She respect Gaga and has covered "Bad Romance" in a previous band. Indeed. Gaga belts the final chorus and it's all about the build up to that moment. Floor chooses to bring it back and plays against expectations. If she wanted to, Floor could have used the remarkable power she has to make Gaga's version sound as if sung by a church mouse with laryngitis, but she chose not to, all to the betterment of this version.

These performances from Floor in this show were so good, it made a single language, English speaking guy download and watch a show, I had to watch reading the subtitles, it was so worth it. The interactions from the singers was just amazing.

Every 'beste zangers' performance of Floor will blow your socks of. That is a given. Do check them out. Phanthom of the opera with Henk Poort is an obvious favorite. Que se siente is one of my favorites.
Haven't seen this info on her yet, so. This is a show format that most in the states won't consider appealing, it isn't a competition in any way. They get a collection of singers from various genres and then each week one is the focus and all the others choose a song of that person's or one that means something special to that person and then perform it there live in front of just them. On this season only 2 other guests actually knew who Floor was. Metal is not very popular in the Netherlands. After this season aired, Floor sold out a short concert tour of the country. She performed 6 solos (in 4 languages) and 2 duets and at one point or other had EVERYONE in tears. She was the first performance of the season and everyone was in total shock from that moment onward with her talent.
I'm probably not the first, nor will I be the last... Same show... Phantom of the opera... Please listen to this, you'll be blown away.
Imo the most epic duet since Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé. Well Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman was damn good too.
That season of Beste Zangers 2019 will never be matched again. Floor started to sing an opera " Vilja Lied" to Henk Port (the old gentleman, famous European Phantom of the Opera) - and everybody got a shock. Floor was considered to be a metal head (which she is) - she even dressed like a metal head that night..... she was the first singer - and the faces of the others were priceless. Floor set the barr so high, that the others knew that they had to perform the best that they had ever done.
They did - those episodes are some of the greatest shown in Dutch TV.
Henk Port does a mind blowing version of "Sound of Silence" for Floor - equal or better than the Disturb version!!!!
And Floor crushes the studio a cuople of times because the others burst into tears or just goes crazy.

And the beste thing was back then that Floors' version of "shallow" jumped overnight , in just 8 hours, on Top of the Dutch single charts and stayed there for a couple of weeks! And wat makes this particular so impressive and exciting is the fact that Floor (even with her lang music career and raw talent and with a huge worldwide fanbase ) was never really well known in the Netherlands until the first episodes Operetta performance wich let everyone (more or less) speechless in front of the Tv (The music market in the Netherlands have been REALLY determined (since the early 90s) only to EDM, following only by Dutch hip-hop, so that other types of music like metal, or folk being almost not existent for the majority

You should see her first performance in this TV show. She sang Vilja Lied. But one of the singer knew her, the others didn't. The Dutchies didn't know her either. So strange, so much talent, nobody knew her...

Go to Floor's RUclips channel. Every song that she sang to the other 6 singers on Beste Zangers was perfection. And in her show they all sang to her which is the premice of the show. Most of the other Dutch singers hadn't heard of her so what a shock they got !!

Can't we just say this woman is a vocal genius? Everyone always keeps talking about Tuomas being a genius (which he totally is), but Floor knows exactly how to use her voice. She can change the vocals of a song in a way that is technically genius, but also emotionally. She can pull you in and make you feel every note and every word. She herself made some changes to Nightwish songs that were originally written for one of the other singers and she makes it her own. Like adding operatic parts that were usually sung by a choir for instance. She hears what would make a song even more epic, theatrical and beautiful. And then she does it like it's the same as brushing your teeth. GENIUS!
Another reactor (Symply Tracie Reacts), said it well and succinctly: "When Floor enters a song it’s for your heart. She comes for your spirit and soul."

The concept of the show is, that on one day all singers sing a song for one of them.
It's a song that is by that singer or a song that means a lot for him / her. Floor is singing there in German, Dutch, Spanis and English. Her "Phanom of the Opera" duet with Henk Poort is legendary.
This song was for Emma Heesters, the woman with the red glitter dress. She's a fantastic singer as well and doing lots of cover versions. Shallow is one of her very popular covers. So Floor sang this one for her. But instead of making it loud,big and heavy she kept it small and calm.

Floor normally sings in rock, metal and classical singing styles. For this TV Show, she had to learn a new way, that is, pop singing. You just heard a great example of what happens when this woman is studying some new style and what it sounds like!
In his interviews, Floor has said how Tuomas Holopainen "challenges" her singing skills on Nightwish albums. For both of his last Nightwish albums, she had to learn more about how to sing a song to make it sound like Tuomas wants the song to go.
Now that there has been a mandatory break for bands, the songwriting process has opened up. In an interview this week, Tuomas said he already has song ideas for his next Nightwish album. Which will probably come after the next tour.

Everyone loves Floor Jansen but she is really good at other language to! She also sings in Finnish and probably Swedish to and she is married (i think) to the drummer of the Swedish metalband SABATON.

This was so popular it went to #1 on Dutch music charts when it came out. Needless to say, everyone was Floored! If you do another one from her Beste Zangers episodes, I recommend "About Love I Dont Know A Thing". It will make you tear up.

Everytime I hear this song on the radio I can’t stop thinking that they made a mistake and put the wrong version on.... yep when Floor is not singing it. Fun fact. On advice of the band she did a verry withhold version of it. She easily could easily belt the hell out of it but instead made this wonderfull cover.

This was captured at the End of An Era concert tour. Tarja was the lead singer at that time, but she is absent from this performance. Just the guys (Tuomas (keyboards), Marco (bass & vocals), Emppu (guitar) and Jukka (drums). The boys slay it. This, for me, is one of the "Best Covers I've Ever Heard™".

This Dutch TV show (Not a competition) will show you just how many different styles this amazing woman can sing with perfection. floor sings this song one key higher than Gaga. Floor did not want to imitate or copy Lady Gaga. She respect Gaga and has covered "Bad Romance" in a previous band. Floor decided with the suggestion from the band that she do it very small and delicate. Loved it my friend. ✌

Indeed. Gaga belts the final chorus and it's all about the build up to that moment. Floor chooses to bring it back and plays against expectations. If she wanted to, Floor could have used the remarkable power she has to make Gaga's version sound as if sung by a church mouse with laryngitis, but she chose not to, all to the betterment of this version.
