    those of you wondering where the denoise feature went in 2.9 you can now get to it by going to the render property's tab then going to cycles and under sampling there is a denoise checkbox to automatically denoise

    • @AmortMedia
      @AmortMedia  3 года назад

      The denoising checkbox only appears when using the cycles render engine. That being said, Blender has been simplified since I releaced this tutorial, and now is easily activated by going to Render Properties/Sampling/Denoising, and checking the render box there. I use the OpenImageDenoise option, but if you have an nvidia RTX GPU, Optix might work better for you.

    Whats the difference between compositor denoise and sampling denoise?

    • @AmortMedia
      @AmortMedia  3 года назад

      I haven't dome a side-by-side comparison, but I believe they're the same, except the compositor denoise only uses open image denoise and the "sampling denoise" offers other options. As far as I know, the sampling denoise was implimented in newer versions of Blender to make denoising easier to use compared to setting up the denoising nodes in the compositor.

  • @GoCreateSomething
    @GoCreateSomething 3 года назад +1

    Do you just like the results from brightening an image with the color ramp better than using the brightness and contrast node? I may have to compare the results from the two nodes and see how they differ if you haven't experimented with that. I also found it interesting that you used color mode instead of multiply to color the lens dirt. Thanks for the demo.

    • @AmortMedia
      @AmortMedia  3 года назад

      I use the color ramp node because it gives you much greater control than the brightness and contrast node. The multiply transfer mode essentially makes the bright parts of the image transparent whereas the color mode applies the color evenly from one image to another regardless of brightness.

    • @AmortMedia
      @AmortMedia  Год назад +1

      I think you could still use the denoise node in the compositor, but Eevee doesn't have the same kind of noise that Cycles does, so I don't think it'd work that well. You could maybe try adding grain in the compositor, followed by the denoise node.

    • @trentonhasty9367

      I think you need to structure your Blender project to use scene layers and within each scene layer have collections of objects/lights/etc. that you can utilize the "Indirect Only" function.

    hey for the scene at 2:17 how did you get the dust to fly from the car tires a detailed explanation or link would be helpful!

    • @AmortMedia
      @AmortMedia  3 года назад +1

      I used a smoke simulation for that. The simulation domain has to be fairly large, to accommodate the path of the vehicle and the distance the smoke travels due to the wind. Other than that, just allign an emitter object with each wheel and parent them to the car. The "smoke amount" (or whatever it's actually called) will have to be keyframed so the dust stops when the car stops. This is all done within Blender using the fire/smoke simulation called mantaflow. If you search for mantaflow tutorials, you'll find a lot of them right here on RUclips.

    • @AmortMedia
      @AmortMedia  3 года назад

      I've done a few tests and found that it may be difficult to do in cycles without a few hacks (if your goal is to actually simulate the seperation of light through a prism). Rendering using the free 3rd party render engine LuxCore might make this effect easier, but I'm not familiar enough with it to achieve good results.

      In case Blender doesn't enable it by default, in the render properties tab, go into the advanced options and make sure the "use animated seed" option is enabled. It's the little clock icon. That will randomize the noise pattern for every frame giving it that "shake".
