I haven't bought a premade palette in over a year, and one was gifted to me a few months ago. Still into my singles more so than premade palettes which surprises me a little. Picking singles or creating your own palette is more creative and you are more likely to wear all the colors. I really wish more brands did singles, but I suppose more people are just into getting palettes. I do have a list of singles to get when Lethal does a sale. Very nice palette you built and eye looks as well.
Phonetic reading is how my late mother taught me to read at 3! She taught her kids that way for 40 years as an educator.

So, 25 years ago I could teach and the kids responded. I’ve got so much respect for you and the teaching profession! You made me laugh out loud, I have a Toto t-shirt! I’m here for the education talk. I grew up in Jamaica and we were taught the traditional way which I agree with-syllables and long form math calculations and cursive handwriting. we must keep it alive! I don’t t have kids but my friend enrolls hers in traditional schools that still teach this way.
Yes!! Phonics is everything!!!!! It’s hard because there has so be some political motivation behind these educational pushes. And as teachers are hands are tied because we get observed by administration and the curriculum department. So sad.
I would so buy that eyeshadow palette and wish it was a collab.

I feel you on the education stuff. I'm subbing right now for art, and I had the kids making cards for mother's day yesterday. I had second graders that couldn't spell "her" and "eggs"! I was like what the heck is going on with ELA? I asked both kids to sound out the words and they couldn't! It was downright sad!

I looooove the first look! That pop of pink was perfect! Wait-WAIT they don’t teach the basics like phonetics, multiple tables that we were taught??? I cannot. 😑😑 I would love more teaching talk. Hey hey friend! Just catching up on these! Omg yeah I should add in more teaching talk! It’s so crazy what they don’t teach anymore and the rationale behind it. I’m so glad you liked the palette! August is a hot mess and omg my sweet Markie is now displaying a preteen attitude and I’m like where is my baby?!?
I can't imagine how challenging elementary teachers have it. When my 6th graders start to act like elementary students, I am ready to send them back where they came lol. I also can't imagine teaching ALL the subjects. It's probably nice feeling like you can get to know one set of students, but I like also like teaching multiple classes in a day.
We are departmentalizing! I’ll be doing math all day next year. I’ll see how I like it!

Cara this reminds me of an amped up Byredo Remembrance palette. I’ve been wanting that since release but it’s the same formula as last year and the longevity is not where it needs to be for the price. So glad you did this!! Thank you!

Oh, and he doesn’t like the brand either. He wants the hdx brand but his is bluebird. He’s very specific about what he wants lol!!

My wife has been a teacher for 9 years and even got two Masters. She is leaving the profession at the end of this school year. Her specialty is ELA but has been teaching history for the last 2 years. It's really sad. She loves teaching and has been recognized for her excellence consistently. The system is broken in so many ways. I applaud you for sticking it out for so long! I hope she's able to make her way back to it in some way because it really is her passion. Also, do you watch Eddie B Comedy? Has a YT and does a lot focused on teaching since he is a former educator. Great video as usual- long time lurker but I watch and thumbs up EVERY VIDEO! 🙂

I’m so glad you like it!!!!!! I hope they gave the shades! Sometimes they have sales on the build you own palettes! The two pricey shades in this one were event horizon and parallax because they are duochromes.

Yes for phonics!! That's how my friends kids are learning.
Lol. I can see why cursive isn't taught anymore, but after working in the public sector, I would say employees should eventually get a bonus (like a small language bonus) for being able to read it bc there are a lot of records (like memos and notes, occasionally real estate docs from the 1880s, lol) that are in cursive.
In CA, they are teaching arithmetic w weird diagrams instead of just lining up big numbers in columns.... And as an engineer who worked hard to get good at math, that's a cute supplementary technique to teach kids, but that is not a good way to teach them as the only method.

The sale is still on but I’m going to try to reel myself in because I need to use and enjoy the scents I have! And omg I cannot stand the new math and I’m going to be a math teacher next year. At this point it has to be smth that I'm highly likely to rebuy, ~50% off, and that I don't think I can get in a month.

I find it strange that cursive isn't taught. I realize we rarely write anymore, but don't we still need a signature? Or are signatures just printed now? 🤔 I feel ancient. 😪
At this point kids are just scribbling and calling it a signature I guess! And basic print isn’t being taught either beyond learning to write your name. So sad!
