Ok. I understand Stearic acid as fat from the soap . I have been using it for the last few years for the finishing works in a restoration project in Italy. Here we get an olive oil soap with the colour removed. Our marble dust is graded , our lime is aged underwater. In use since Roman times. Thank-you both for concise and practical advise.
Excellent video. Hope you will make more of these in detail for people who want to construct using lime. May be you should start a learning course. A question.. is calcium stearate or using marble dust to achieve smooth finish considered sustainable, reversible and eco friendly? Just trying to figure out whether it goes well with Mother Nature.
The calcium stearate layer is a few microns thick. The marble lime mix layer is a few mm thick. I am not sure what happens when it's recycled or removed, but I think the volume won't be much.

that wil be fantastic to see how excatly the process is done. I'm building my own house in Brazil totally organic and used lime a lot, and would like to know if they is alternatives, other than Tadelakt, which is very labor demanding?
I've been waiting for this one! Grateful for the information about polished lime. You've got me Googling for a marble dust alternative.. as it's unavailable in large quantities unless you are a pool builder. I wonder if powderized eggshells have enough calcium carbonate.. or even oyster shell powder.. hmm. Thanks for the gift of learning today🎉
Have excavated polished lime, rammed earth floors at archaeological sites but didn't think it could be done in today's concepts! I'm allergic to chemical paints and this looks like the perfect alternative. Where can I find more information about this technique? Also masons who specialize in it?
Mam, you've really done a very good venture. You are a very good teacher and explainer. I watch all your videos. About this video, I just wander what type of roof can be build for a house which is build using lime as binding material. Can a two story house be build using lime.
Dear ! Manisha I did not get your point from 5:26 to 5:44 . ( Soap will be applied before Calcium Carbonate Sets ) For better shiny surface ). Please elaborate?
Soap has stearic acid. This stearic acid combined with Calcium Hydroxide to form Calcium Stearate which gives the shiny mirror finish. If you wait too long to apply this soap, the Calcium Hydroxide will simple become Calcium Carbonate. It will be hard, but wont have the shine. Hope that clarirfied
Hello, the lime surface finish is suitable in heavy rain regions? I am from Kerala. We have rain here more than six months. Is it suitable for our climate?
Hi, I missed one thing here, is the marble powder mixed with sand & lime during plaster, or, is it lime + marble powder as a "putty" equivalent on top of the plastered surface?
There are so many types of lime. When you say lime, in europeans countries there is NHL 2 , 3.5, 5 hydraulic lime and also air lime , Quicklime, Hydrated lime etc.. What do you use in India?
You are lucky you have so many grades of lime readily available. It's not so easy here, as cement has really taken over! We used quick lime for foundations (and then hydrated it) and standardised hydrated lime for plasters.
Nice, I am looking for stearic acid soap to finish my lime plaster, but couldn't. I tried making at home but failed, can u guide me about stearic acid soap and it's exact ratio
If you are in India, just use Lux International white soap. Alternatively you can contact MLIME to source the soap they have made specially for this purpose
Hi congrats to anandafarms.... mam im from city-kharar, dist-Mohali,Punjab... if you have.. could you kindly share contact details of masons/ lime plaster workers in nearby area??
priyank your comment is out of context. Here they are to discuss about how to make various finishes with lime. whether MLime will be successful or not is a problem of the society at large. Don't worry.
Live samples 🤣 stop explaining lime tech and give the nasty sod live samples for him to taste, to savour, to smear on himself without restraints, free to be what he always wanted to be but was up to this pointnvery much hindered by self-imposed societal constraints! Hurrah!

This process is similar to tadelakt and labour intensive as well
Hi love watching your content .

Unfotunately we have used cement in the roofs, as our masons could not use lime mortar for roofs.
@@farmaanandaa Actually, to install solar panels, we need higher roof. So what do you suggest mam.
Soap!!!
Any specific soap??
Can you suggest any soap??

Hello, the lime surface finish is suitable in heavy rain regions? I am from Kerala. We have rain here more than six months. Is it suitable for our climate?
I believe the old red floors in Kerala houses were made of lime plaster only. Isn't it?
Hi, I missed one thing here, is the marble powder mixed with sand & lime during plaster, or, is it lime + marble powder as a "putty" equivalent on top of the plastered surface?
Lime and marble powder as a putty
Can we make a high storey building using lime??? And what will be its sustainability??
Lime is a binder like cement. You'll have to use blocks, bricks or earth to make your walls. Sustainability will depend on what else you use
7:38 beautiful colors... how did you added? Food Color? Or what else?
You get pigments/oxides to add to the lime plasters
Any book to learn home construction using lime
Sorry, we don't know of any
Is this comparable to Tadelakt? Is the polished lime waterproof? Is black soap used?
Yes it is comprarable. No, white soap is used.
There are so many types of lime.
When you say lime, in europeans countries there is NHL 2 , 3.5, 5 hydraulic lime and also air lime , Quicklime, Hydrated lime etc..

Can polished lime be used on exterior surfaces, or is it only suited for interior surfaces.
You can use it outdoors, but it may not be value for money
