A lot of things are "art" for one person but not to another. I as a non artist in any way would think these Ai pics are a kind of art because some of them are looking very good, but the artist should (no, he has to) call it what it is and not let people believe he shot these pictures this is not ok and I fully understand that you feel triggered. One question from someone who has no idea about art, in the past, what did painters say when the first photographs came up? Did they say: thats no art, using a machine to "paint" ? This would be really interesting for me to know. Also for the near future, I would think borders between human work and machine work will get more and more blurry and at the same time more and more invisible. For example AI can maybe write a good book very soon or maybe can create high quality software code, or can make long dead actors appear in a new movie, look for example at the Abba avatars. Interesting and a bit scary times ahead.

I see AI as a way to supplement my photography. So for example I may take a portrait of someone which doesn't have a great background and then use AI to provide a more interesting backdrop to the image.
So as a tool to aid the creative process, I'm fully supportive of AI. But I personally don't consider putting a prompt into an AI image generator as being creative. Its just an idea that the AI makes into reality rather than you having to put much thought and effort into creating.

well ... wow! deceitful, yes, definitely! but people will do anything to get followers, and hope that by the time they're unmasked or come clean, people will like them enough to stay on the train. it is a fact that the internet is the wild west, though, and we can only keep to our own convictions. does it upset me that he calls the images "photos" or "art"? yes, of course - as a photographer i know how much work goes into a good image. i'm guessing he wouldn't be the type of person who goes out in a howling gale like i did today, with -16C windchill, to capture the landscapes that i wanted. that's his loss. unfortunately, the scraping issue is something that we have to accept if we have an online presence because there's absolutely no way to avoid it or stop it. best bet is to just keep my blinkers on, keep enjoying what i love to do, while keeping a weather eye out for frauds and excluding them from my sphere.

      Cheers for the feedback 🙏
I agree, nothing we can do about the scapers. I do use a website to check the internet for any instances of my better work though as we all know how fond people are of just downloading and using/distributing everything they see online.
For me the only 'trigger' was the deception. I have an immense dislike of scammers and that's pretty much what he is. he has built a following based on misleading people. I have given up trying to get to 10,000 followers on Instagram so that I can use links ages ago, so to see this guy get to 30k through deception really twists my knickers.
The two images I used on my thumbnail, I created in under a minute using AI and have done no post-processing to them yet. They aren't far off the sort of stuff he posts. I'm positive all he does is the same sort of editing I would do on my actual lowkey portraits that I do and love.
The sad thing is, his account has grown by several thousand since the article was released so it seems many people don't mind being lied to 🤷🏻‍♂

@@GrumpyGitsRoadTrip agree with you about liars ... very low and shows a small person. i have just 18 followers on this channel (StS) and am happy with that. you're doing great with a few hundred already, Elton!
