Always loved the ease of carrying a thinline. They definitely end up in my Church rotations due to that fact.

I think readability is the most important think when it comes to format

I am wondering how and why did the demand for thinline came into being or was created by publishers. 1 inch or slightly more than 1 is already thin, but we have that one which seems to have smaller font and some ultra thinline by Thomas Nelson. What's the purpose of function of it? To fit it in a tight suitcase? The ghosting does happen in those ultra thin pages. I think I will just buy the ESV church/pew bible. I also wonder and wanna ask the diff between hardcover of the church bible and the paper cover or trutone. Is there a convenience difference between the two?

I haven't been able to be around for a while. Now I am hearing they are considering updating the NKJV Bible. Is that true? If so what would be the difference between the current NKJV Bible and the new NKJV Bible?

I believe Crossway mastered the thinline format in their newest runs, aside from the lack of line matching. It's incredibly readable in a truly inviting way, often drawing me to want to read it over other editions. I think the leading is mostly the cause for me, personally. It's also thin enough to still feel like a true thinline. I especially love the buffalo leather editions because the leather is quite soft compared to genuine leather and yet remarkably thin, helping the bible feel thin altogether. My CSB thinlines and NKJV thinlines just don't compare, sadly, though I still love them.
I appreciate your videos, Tim! I always find them very interesting and engaging.

I too think the buffalo leather is a great option. I just got a buffalo leather compact ESV that I'll be reviewing soon. The buffalo is a good leather in between the cost of goatskin and the stiffness of many genuine leathers. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I like that cover, I have the brown.
There are more than one hundred changes when you compare the ESV CE,( besides the book removals). Augustine Institute makes a cheap sturdy thinline, you should review it ♥️♥️♥️ .

Thinline offerings have definitely changed over time. I have an NIV84 ultrathin reference Bible published in 1986 that's Extremely thin, but the paper quality, text layout etc. are amazing. I haven't seen anything current that's comparable in physically. The Nelson Signature Series Bibles are also amazing, but hard to come by now and very steep in price.

Thanks for doing a story about this. I’m a big thinline fan. I thought they were popular. So, why don’t they make them anymore?

They do make thinlines still. Not typically quite as thin, but still thin enough (around 1 inch thick).

It took while for me to get another thinline after I got my ESV thinline. I liked the insides, but it was just TOO thin. 10 or so later, got a Thomas Nelson in green goatskin and it’s perfect in hand. But I’m sure that helps by previously reading from the huge Abide Bible.
