"Twenty Flight Rock" is a song originally performed by Eddie Cochran in the 1956 film comedy The Girl Can't Help It, and released as a single the following year. The song was published in 1957 as written by Ned Fairchild and Eddie Cochran.
The barely 15-year-old Paul McCartney used "Twenty Flight Rock" as his first song when he auditioned for John Lennon on July 6, 1957 in Liverpool, England. The 16-year-old Lennon, introduced that day to McCartney at St. Peter's Church Hall prior to a church garden fete, was impressed by his new acquaintance's ability to play the song on the guitar. The good first impression of McCartney's performance led to an invitation to join the Quarrymen-Lennon's band that would eventually evolve into the Beatles. On The Beatles Anthology, McCartney noted that: "I think what impressed him most was that I knew all the words."
Here I´ve intended to show a possible rendition from that historic July 6th and together with John with the same gear they used to play in 1957-58.

I love all your quarrymen guitar cover because if there's no quarrymen there's no beatles.
I love the idea of these "Fantasy" sort of covers. Like sinereos where we dont have a recording but still doing a cover. It's a great Idea and thank you for doing it.

An interesting detail, in the beginning John seemed to just listen, and then he could not restrain himself and began to play along with Paul, Thank you for this work done! It would not be bad for you to perform I Lost My Little Girl, Paul performed it at some concert. Thank you!

Also can you do Ain’t that a shame which was Lennon’s first ever song learn on guitar
Epic
Awesome stuff, Stu! Do you think they must have played Twenty Flight Rock when they went electric?
Hard to know but probably not cause they were constantly changing the set list....how knows?
It's a shame John never joined in at the actual meeting
Didn't Paul wow John Lennon with the solo played left handed on a righthand strung guitar?
¿Could you touch Moving and Grooving please?
It’s in the list! Soon...
@@StuSutcliffe60 that's great I'm already waiting for it
Can you do a cover of the version in the bathroom of McCartney's house of I'll follow the sun please ? You're so talented and the one who make these videos
Wouldn't John be doin this with banjo chords and his guitar tuned banjo since he didn't stop using banjo chords til George joined 🤔
Paul also mentioned he borrowed a right handed guitar and played it upside down.
Probably Eric Griffith's egmond.
@PaulllyI dont see that as really an issue, I see the wrong guitar being used as an issue.
John has said that it was Paul who first showed him proper Guitar chords before George was even in the picture
Excuse me mr sutcliffe if you don’t mind me asking what all beatles themed guitars do you own i was just wondering if you don’t wanna answer it’s totally cool btw awesome vid

Play love me tender Stuart Sutcliffe version
Why would he? It's not Stuart Sutcliffe singing - it's the Boston Show Band.
I mean you should’ve used the audio from Nowhere Boy because it sounds almost like Paul from 1957 but It sounds like Paul a couple years later singing this song.

How did you learn Paul’s part? Were you based in one his presentations? By the way, congrats
There are some clips with Paul playing it.

Do you plan to play more songs from The Quarrymen era?
sure, in time.
Yeah
Were can you find a Galatione champion guitar the same as that one
Try e bay
It depends where you're based, but I've seen some on Reverb's website before.
Does anyone have tabs for both parts?
Edit: The chords John are playing are A, E, and D. All I need are Paul's lead part.
helterskelter basically what u do is play the same chords but u go one strum a then on the a string hit the second then hammer third fret, do something similar for d and e just switch the hammer string
What the problem, sir? you could clearly see everything and repeat everything and you can slowdown music without music be out of tune? These guys often even have not got any records they just go to the music records and hanging there all the time before someone kick them out. Put a little effort it's not that hard at all!
NowhereMan930 haven’t got much of a clue, they sound a bit like 9 chords to me but I’m not sure it might just be a# to a
Where did you get the nice suit at for Paul McCartney?
It's just a white suit jacket with a black button-up.
Where can I get the zenith 17 of Paul?
I am also wondering that
@@duncanbrodie3697 lots of searching on ebay and reverb.
How much did you pay for both them guitars? been looking for them in that type of condition but not been able to find any.

When is the next vid I’m waiting a week
Finishing one...probably tomorrow.
Cheers looking forward love your channel
Well done! Is that P McCartney singing? How did you manage that? Cheerz PS Your guitar sounds higher tuned than concert pitch.
Yep...and a little bit of youth to "15 yo" Macca.
What is John's guitar called
A gallotone champion from South Africa it was guaranteed not to split and he used it for 3-4 years before he stole a guitar at a competition

How old are you ?
15
Does John’s guitar have only five strings ?
yes, he used to play with five strings because he learned with the banjo
Tutorial pls

What type of string do you put on the galloton champion please ?
Most probably acoustics 11 since thats the most common guitar string for an acoustic. I am not sure if its Phosphor Bronze or the other Bronze version.
@@jamqc24 from the era I imagine its 80/20 bronze
Luke Hopkins correct.
Nice, the tab please.
Man its a wonder to me how people play guitar. I cant even play the first chord shape of this song without muting five strings.

That guy who was in group on day but went home for lunch has video up as Maggie Mae. Paul did not bring guitar so played one upside down left handed. Lennon couldn't play this tune so according to your version paul showed him. How was this possible unless paul knew banjo tuning. Lot of frigging around by you why not think it through first. So much piffle about old days long gone obsessed over.
Maybe Paul showed it to him on the right handed guitar that John had with him. He is shown in photos playing it the very day they met.
And they aren't the hardest chords to learn, even for someone first taught bango.
You were supposed to be playing that on the upper deck of the bus , right ? Actually I believe that was where George played “Raunchy “ for John . I could be wrong I should check first , I may have my stories mix up .
Paul played Twenty Flight Rock for John at the Woolton Church Fete. It got him an invitation to join the Quarrymen. George would join after playing Raunchy for John on the top of a doubledecker bus in Liverpool. These are the greatest stories in rock music history.
What chords are you playing at the end?
It's B♭7 to A7
